Jonah left Aidan's office and headed directly back to his room, he wanted to explore, but doing so would raise suspicion he'd rather avoid.
As he opened the door, Orcette was talking with Lottie at table and Kayla remained fast asleep, which worried Jonah a bit in terms of how she would sleep that night and so he nudged her awake.
She sat up so quickly she would have headbutted him had he not been expecting it, but he caught and soothed her immediately. "Calm yourself Kayla, it will take time to adjust to your new instincts. Orcette, can you pass her blades?"
Orcette did as asked as she spoke. "Good idea if we want her to sleep tonight. Lottie, could you fetch the food, please?"
Lottie stood then bit her lip and looked at Jonah. "Did you do something to Kieran?" She asked the question with almost painful insecurity.
"Absolutely not, but as adorable as you are, I'm afraid men have a tendency to be oblivious to such subtlety. All I did was open his eyes a bit." The blush that found her cheeks spoke volumes of her experience accepting compliments, but it was clear she was thankful for the assistance.
As she exited the room and went to get them some food, Orcette meanwhile sank back to chair. "Am I adorable?"
She asked the question as Jonah was looking Kayla over and had started talking her through what he learned, which left him vulnerable. "Yeah, despite your new body, you keep acting immature which makes it seem a bit exaggerated, it's very cute..."
As if to demonstrate it, she stood up suddenly, catching her hip on the table and making a bit of a racket. "...Just like that." It was only then that he realised what he was saying and turned to see her blushing.
"Are you two a couple in the real world?" Kayla asked as she inserted herself into the conversation.
"No, we only met by chance because he was stood in front of me in the courtyard. I tried to tease him, but it backfired." She was floundering more than she realised however and children always manage to pick up on the things you least want them to.
Kayla, deciding that this was the best way she could repay Orcette for their taking her in, decided to try and distract Jonah. "Am I cute?"
"You're easily distracted and need to pay attention, sorry Orcette..." Jonah trailed off into a lecture, explaining as much as possible to the already frazzled teenage girl.
When Lottie returned she was in the company of Lucas, who was holding a set of ID cards. "Sorry to interrupt dinner, but I thought we should get this sorted sooner rather than later..."
As Lottie placed the food down on the table, Jonah took two of the cards and handed one to Kayla whilst Lucas passed Orcette the other.
Strangely enough, they were more like a stack of four credit cards each, made out of what felt like plastic but something far more sturdy and with a pin or something going through them in the middle of a square frame.
On closer inspection, Jonah could see that it was one solid piece folded in half and half again.
"Well, dead simple, jus-..." Remembering what Orcette had told him about needles and seeing where things were going, Jonah shot up and dexterously pressed Orcette's thumb onto it. "Sorry, if you had finished, we would have been coaxing her into it all night."
Orcette was glaring at him, annoyed by his forcing, but couldn't argue that he was right and focused instead on watching as the pin receded and the blue blood came off against the surface.
As it did, it began to spread throughout the square, painting a blue portrait of Orcette, then finally settling and recolouring into a photographic likeness.
When that had finished the pin seemed to merge with the ID as it unfurled itself. The blood that formed the portrait spreading out and drawing what was very reminiscent of a circuit diagram before completely settling as it transitioned into some kind of character sheet.

"Well that's the quickest blood result I've ever gotten..." Orcette proceeded to read out her stats and skills for others' benefit.
When she was done Jonah asked Kayla if she wanted to go next or last and after seeing the fuss Orcette made and the way she had been sucking her thumb since, she gave Jonah the spotlight.
As he pressed his thumb against it though, it just bent without piercing his skin, which Lucas was apparently expecting as he formed a small needle with spirit energy. "Sorry Jonah, I kind of expected as much and whilst Orcette was a good start, I'd rather be certain."
Without delay, Jonah extended a hand towards him. "Please do, I'd rather clear myself of suspicion, it doesn't suit an angel."
Lucas laughed and jabbed the index finger with the needle that quickly ceased to exist after drawing forth the copper-like blood which Jonah smeared on the needle before plucking a feather and cleaning the digit. "I'm not sure on shelf life, but burn this and the fire will have some ability to break curses."
"Really? You may have just become a popular man, if your sheet shows you hon-"
"Lucas, it may be wise to remember that if he does pass, it means you are being rude to an angel." Lottie interjected as some small way of showing her support, though by the time she was done the character sheet had finished and proved her council wise.

"Well..." Lucas started before pausing. "... You're an angel, but I have no idea if anything on that is normal, since you're the first to my knowledge that got an ID. Honestly though, since Angels can't lie, that race tag is all I needed but that unique bit raises questions."
Jonah smiled, Lucas wasn't wrong and he was as annoyed by the new question as he was happy to have an excuse for any slip-ups. His biggest concern though, was the charges section. "It seems I have to increase my self awareness, even I didn't know I had officially chosen them. Nor did I know I could have more than one charge in that manner."
Lottie and Lucas looked at each other and expressed that they didn't know. "Well, your food grows cold, hand those back and I'll show the Master and have him add Kayla as your guild daughter when she's all done."
"Daughter?"
"Indeed, I don't know what happened with your family young one, but regardless it is the only way an underage child can join the gui-" Lucas was silenced as Lottie's elbow found his ribs.
Kneeling down, she took one of Kayla's hands. "Don't worry, Sweetie. You don't have to give up on your parents or call them Mum and Dad, all it means is that you are their responsibility. That way if you misbehave, we know who to return you to."
Kayla thought about it a bit, then nodded and pressed her thumb down on the pin and watched as the same process took place. "You're a bit of a wimp, aren't you Mum?" Kayla grinned as Orcette grumbled, before Jonah gestured for her to calm down.

"And with that, we're all settled. I'll bring them by when the changes have been made, but as for your spiritual weapon training, come and find me after your house hunt tomorrow. The Master told me if this works out, he wants you up to snuff before an angel gets killed and we have a heavenly host out for blood." Lucas laughed, bowing to convey a wordless apology for his suspicions.
"I'll leave you be as well, I'm sure you have much to talk about. If you want your room cleaned tomorrow, just leave your key at the counter and head out, we banned cleaners from occupied rooms a while ago."
Lottie's face flushed a bit and she looked at the confused expression on Kayla's face, making Jonah and Orcette laugh, at which point she took her leave.
The moment the door clicked shut and he could no longer sense any emotion from her, he began telling Kayla all about his life for the same reason he had been so open with Orcette about it.
When he was done, Orcette took her turn, starting with an apology for grumbling about the dig Kayla had made about her reaction to the pin. By the time she was done talking, Kayla burst into tears and walked over to hug her before Orcette sat her down and got her eating.
Whilst she was eating, Orcette and Jonah tucked into theirs, finding it surprisingly good for basic bread, a few slices of cheese and some sausages.
"Oh thank god, I don't think I could have lived without eating meat, but I wonder what's taking Lucas so long?" Jonah spoke as he put his plate on the table before laying face down on the bed, which was apparently a way to summon Lucas as he knocked on the door a few seconds later.
Orcette watched as Jonah tried to figure out if he wanted the IDs that badly, then stood and got the door herself. "Hey, Lucas. Thanks for that, I'm sure you and the Master have better things to do than babysitting new members."
Lucas made a face that said they were, but also that they both enjoyed the simpler parts of their job from time to time. "...Anyway, I asked the Master for permission, and he agreed. Tomorrow, we'll be going for a trip to a dungeon, it's overnight, but if you do buy a house then he will give Lottie an allowance to buy a few things for the new place."
Jonah rolled onto his side and then stood up upon hearing that. "That's very generous, thank you both for your gracious hospitality."
"Please lighten up, I get it, I was a jerk but I hate formalities..." Lucas laughed a little. "...If you can show Kieran what's in front of him, you can add a dash of peasant to your speech with me. Or would you prefer I call you Lord Jonah for my indiscretions?"
"No, It's fine. Until I know what I am, I don't think I have the right to claim the usual honours of my kind."
Lucas nodded, then patted Jonah on the shoulder and said goodnight, which was quickly followed by the thud of Kayla's body hitting the table. "Ouch, that's going to hurt. Best get the little one to bed, make sure she locks the door and show her to the outhouse out back."
The word made Orcette and Jonah shiver and only when Lucas made a gesture that it wasn't as bad as they probably expected but not great.
So Jonah went to investigate and to be fair, they did smell, but no more than the average dive bar toilet before closing after a busy Friday night. He then returned to the room and Jonah stayed while Orcette made her own assessment, arriving with the face of someone opting to hold it in for as long as possible.
"Well, I'll see you in the morning." Orcette said as she was about to leave.
"You can have this room tonight and I'll take yours. Kayla clearly needs sleep and I'd like to let her have it, sweet dreams."
"You too. See you in the morning.
"Remember to lock the door when I leave." Jonah then stood outside and waited until he heard the lock clunk, then headed into the room that sat directly at the top of the stairs.
The girls slept pretty soundly, Jonah however did not have a luxury like sleep.
Instead, he sat awake in the room, at first he thought it was just an insomnia spell but it soon became clear it wasn't.
After four hours of not even feeling tired, Jonah resigned himself to the fact it was simply not something his new body required.
"How fun?.." He muttered to himself sarcastically. "...I am going to get to know the ceiling of any bedroom quite well apparently, I need to find a hobby."
