Morris's POV
I asked Ana what was happening.
She told me Madeline was heading back home.
"Things have been crazy at the company lately. With Madeline leaving, I'll need to step in and handle everything," Ana explained.
Toby's in Veridia right now, I thought to myself. But even if Ana goes back to Marcel, the Vernon Brothers will keep her safe.
I nodded. "When are you planning to leave?"
"Tomorrow," she replied.
"I'll drive you tomorrow," I said, pulling her into my arms.
I wrapped her in a tight embrace, holding her against me.
"Once I finish up here, I'll come find you," I added.
She hugged me back.
"I'll be waiting for you," she whispered, her voice soft and full of promise.
That evening, I helped her pack her things. With everything ready, she booked her ticket to fly back home to Marcel the next day.
Late at night, she lay there restless, unable to fall asleep.
It was well into the night and she was still lying there, eyes open, staring into the darkness.
