Darla lost her vision as darkness engulfed her. She didn't pass out because the pain kept her awake. Her hands clutched into something firm, but not as hard as steel. Her finger dug into it unconsciously, enduring the pain.
While she was in pain, she felt it, the warm sensation that slowly spread inside her. There was something else, something even warmer that was comforting to her.
She didn't know how long she stayed like that, but she slowly regained her vision. It was still painful, especially her chest, but it was more endurable than before.
Her sight remained blurred, but it slowly came into focus. She saw red that slowly shaped into a head. The pain subsided as her vision returned.
She saw a worried face, and that made her smile. She didn't know that Red could make such an expression. Sweat flooded her face and back. It seemed she needed to take a bath again.
As the pain completely subsided, a warm current flowed inside her. That relieved her of the pain.
