Chapter 11 - THE PASSENGER

Akilah's heart was racing as she read the message on her phone. She looked around the cabin, her eyes scanning the rows of seats, searching for any sign of Ethan. The plane was dimly lit, with most of the passengers asleep or trying to sleep. Akilah's eyes adjusted to the darkness, and she began to make out the features of the people around her.

Toya was asleep beside her, her head tilted to one side. Akilah nudged her gently, trying not to startle her. "Toya, wake up," she whispered.

Toya opened her eyes, looking around in confusion. "What's wrong?" she asked, her voice low.

Akilah showed her the message on her phone. Toya's eyes widened as she read it. "What are you going to do?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Akilah didn't know what to do. She felt trapped, surrounded by strangers, with no way to escape. She looked around the cabin again, trying to spot Ethan. That's when she saw him.

He was sitting a few rows behind her, his eyes fixed on her. Akilah's heart skipped a beat as their eyes met. Ethan smiled, a cold, calculating smile, and Akilah felt a chill run down her spine.

Toya followed her gaze and saw Ethan. She gasped, her hand covering her mouth. "What do we do?" she whispered.

Akilah stood up, trying to stay calm. "We need to tell the flight attendant," she said, her voice low. "We need to get help."

Toya nodded, and they made their way to the front of the plane. Akilah explained the situation to the flight attendant, who listened attentively.

"I'll call the captain," she said, her voice calm. "We'll take care of this."

Akilah and Toya returned to their seats, watching as the flight attendant spoke to the captain. The plane was quiet, except for the sound of the engines and the occasional murmur of a passenger.

Akilah felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was safe, she was going to be okay. But as she looked back at Ethan, she saw that he was standing up, making his way towards her.

She felt a sense of panic, unsure of what he was going to do. Toya grabbed her hand, holding it tightly.

"Ethan, stop," Akilah said, trying to sound firm. "You're not going to do this here."

Ethan smiled, his eyes glinning with a cold intensity. "I'm not going to do anything, Akilah," he said, his voice low and menacing. "I'm just going to take my seat."

Akilah knew he was lying. She could see it in his eyes, the way he was looking at her. He was going to do something, and she didn't know what.

The flight attendant appeared at her side, a calm smile on her face. "Sir, please return to your seat," she said. "We're getting the captain's attention."

Ethan's eyes never left Akilah's face. "I'm not going to hurt you, Akilah," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I just want to talk."

Akilah knew better than to believe," she didn't.

"I'm not going to talk to you, Ethan," Akilah said, her voice firm. "I'm not going to listen to your lies."

Ethan's face twisted in anger, and for a moment, Akilah thought he was going to hit her. But then, he seemed to regain control of himself.

"Fine," he said, his voice cold. "I'll wait."

Akilah watched as he returned to his seat, her heart still racing. She knew she wasn't safe, not yet.

The flight attendant came over to her, a look of concern on her face. "Are you okay?" she asked.

Akilah nodded, trying to smile. "I'm fine," she said. "Thank you."

The flight attendant nodded, her eyes scanning the cabin. "I'll make sure to keep an eye on him," she said.

Akilah nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude. She knew she wasn't alone, not yet.

As the plane continued to fly, Akilah tried to calm down. She knew she was safe, for now. But she also knew that Ethan wasn't going to give up. He was going to keep coming, and she was going to have to be ready.

Akilah's eyes locked onto Ethan's, and she felt a surge of determination. She was not going to let him win. She was going to fight back, and she was going to win.

The plane flew through the night, the hours ticking by slowly. Akilah dozed off, exhausted, but her eyes snapped open as she felt the plane begin to descend.

They were landing, and Akilah knew she had to be ready. She looked around the cabin, trying to get her bearings. Where were they? And what was waiting for her on the ground?

As the plane touched down, Akilah felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was safe, she was going to be okay.

But as she looked out the window, she saw a figure waiting for her on the tarmac. A figure in a black suit, with a black hat pulled low over his face.

Akilah's heart sank. Who was this? And what did he want?
