Chapter 2 - First day of School (1)

This wasn't her body, it wasn't even her. Why was she in a situation like this? What had happened after her father had stabbed her? Where was she?

Countless questions crowded Yui's mind, but one intrigued her more than all the others: if she had been killed by her father at that moment and had reincarnated into this body, what had happened to the person who had lived in it before her?

She immediately decided to give herself a mission: to find out who this mysterious person was, whose identity she had taken.

"Hey, little sister, are you there?" her brother repeated.

"Ah, yes, of course…" Yui replied, unsure how to act.

"You're really strange today. Anyway, go to the Montforts: they were complimenting you, and you suddenly walked away. You know, it's been more than ten years since they last saw you; you can't treat them like that, even if you don't remember them well."

"Of course, I'm sorry," Yui said.

She approached the Montforts.

"I apologize for leaving so suddenly; I didn't mean to be rude."

"Oh, don't worry, dear!" said Mrs. Montfort.

"Cleia, we were just talking about you, you know," added the man, who must have been Cleia's father, "and how tomorrow will be your first day at school!"

Cleia? Was this the name of the girl whose place she had taken?

"It's a nice name," Yui thought to herself. But a doubt immediately came to her: first day of school? "What do they mean?" she wondered.

"In any case, now you need to go to sleep," said the woman who must be her mother.

"Sure, I'll go back to my room," Yui replied, unsure where to go.

"Let me come with you," her brother said.

"Thanks!"

They climbed the stairs together to the second floor and stopped in front of a door, which must have been her room.

"Enjoy this room," her brother said, "because it will be the last time you see it for a while."

"What do you mean, 'for a while'?" Yui immediately understood: the school she would attend was a boarding school, so she would be living there for an indefinite period.

In the end, however, she thought it was lucky: at least here she wouldn't have problems with her new family, whose names she didn't even know.

"Good night then!" said her brother.

"Yes, good night," Yui replied.

At least here her family wasn't violent like the previous one, and this gave rise to another thought: revenge against her father, who had killed her. She couldn't even deny that it might be a dream; it was certain that she had died and reincarnated in this body. But even if she hadn't been killed by her father, she couldn't forgive him for stabbing his own daughter.

The next day, Yui woke up to a ray of sunlight warming her face and blinding her eyes at the same time.

"It looks like a scene from a movie… too bad the sun is in my eyes," she said to herself.

Now that she noticed it, she realized she had never seen what the outside of this new world looked like. She was eager to go out and discover what lay beyond the doors of her house.

Descending the stairs of her enormous new house, she saw her father in the kitchen preparing breakfast.

"Really a world upside-down, huh?" she thought.

Noticing his daughter approaching, her father spoke first:

"Cleia, you woke up early! It's only four in the morning; you have two hours before leaving for school!"

Yui convinced herself to call him Dad.

"Good morning, Dad!"

"Good morning, Cleia! Today will be your first day of school! You'll be excited, but don't worry: your brother will be with you!"

After breakfast and getting ready, Yui finally opened the door. In front of her stretched a magnificent garden: two trees, a dirt path bordered by a stone fence. To the left, a well, a small vegetable garden, and a stream running through it; to the right, clothes drying. But what amazed her the most was the view in the distance: a Gothic-style castle, huge like a city, with a village at its feet, illuminated by the pink dawn.

Yui was speechless; she had never seen anything so beautiful in her life.

"It could rival the Seven Wonders of the World," she thought.

"So, are you moving?" her brother asked from behind, startling her.

"Yeah, we're all waiting for you to start your journey and begin your story!" said her mother.

"It's nothing that serious, Ethel!" replied her father.

Perfect, Yui thought; now she knew her mother's name.

To reach Myirion, it would take four hours and thirty minutes on foot, but she and her brother were going on horseback, so the journey would take about one hour and twenty minutes.

Mounted and after saying goodbye to her parents, Yui began the journey to the city.

"One hour on horseback, huh? I thought it would take longer; what luck," her brother said, smiling.

"If you meet a teacher named Thyra, be prepared… she's terrible."

"Well, let's hope for the best," Yui said, uncertain and a little anxious.

The journey went smoothly, and soon they arrived at their destination.

"Finally, we've arrived," said her brother, whose name Yui still didn't know; mentally, she continued calling him "brother," but it annoyed her.

"Cleia, are you there? You need to get off the horse."

"Ah, of course."

Yui got off and found herself in front of the school entrance, located in a section of the castle.

"Magnificent!" she exclaimed.

"Yes, and you need to go over there: they will call all the first-year students by name and give you a sheet with all the necessary information."

"Perfect, thank you!"

After saying goodbye to her brother, she approached a wooden stand where students were called one by one to receive their sheets.

"Cleia Veyl."

Yui thought, "So my last name is Veyl… it's really beautiful."

On the sheet, she saw that her room was on the third floor of the female dormitory "B," room 49.

Finally arriving, Yui opened the door and found a medium-sized room, cute but empty. She thought it had a lot of potential and began arranging her clothes in the wardrobe.

Fifteen minutes later, a girl entered. She had long dark blue hair, blue eyes, and two earrings. She wore a miniskirt and a Bardot-neck top, with long sleeves and gathered cuffs.

"Nice to meet you, my name is Astrid."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Cleia."

"I'll have to get used to that name," Cleia thought.
