Chapter 33 - Chapter 32: Becoming the Demon Sword’s Disciple

Chapter 32: Becoming the Demon Sword's Disciple

"So? Do you want to be my disciple?"

I slowly moved my hands, checking if they still hurt. Then I looked at Himmel with a curious gaze.

Judging by the aura he emitted and the way he called that person a 'pest,' this old man must be incredibly strong. So I asked him.

"But before I decide, may I ask what your current rank is, old man?" I asked, rubbing the bedsheet, pretending to be casual.

Himmel gave a small, light, slightly arrogant laugh. Then he leaned forward and placed both hands on his thighs.

"Before I answer, do you know what ranks exist in this world?" Himmel asked.

I gave a small nod, looking into his eyes. "Yes, more or less..."

Hearing that, he straightened up, laughing. "Oh? You're not entirely foolish, are you?"

A vein bulged on my forehead. My lips twitched slightly, but I said nothing. Himmel pointed to himself with his thumb and said somewhat arrogantly.

"I am Himmel Logan. And my rank is Transcendent, brat."

My face instantly froze. My mind spun rapidly, processing what he had just said so easily. My heart pounded hard in my chest.

I remained like that for several seconds, and when I snapped out of it, I sprang up from the bed. The pain in my body was gone, replaced by a feeling of awe.

"Say that one more time, old man!?" I gasped.

He grinned widely and laughed. He looked at me with a teasing and mocking tone, then spread his arms slightly and said.

"You heard me. I am a Transcendent," Himmel answered, still laughing.

I blinked once, then twice, and on the third time, I could finally speak in a small voice. I quickly looked down.

"Please... Make me your disciple, old man..!" I said quickly.

Himmel blinked upon hearing that, not expecting my tone to change so rapidly. Himmel rubbed his smiling lips.

"That's what I've been waiting for. You've found the right master, little brat," he said, slowly standing up from his seat.

I slowly shook my head, smiling slightly, "No, I'm the one who should be lucky..."

Himmel, who was already standing, slowly waved his hand, about to turn, then spoke.

"And before I go, call me Master." Himmel said, looking at me from the side.

"Yes, Master..." I said softly.

He nodded cheerfully, "Good, you adapt quickly, don't you?"

I walked slowly towards the window, leaning against it, tilting my head, and said to Himmel.

"As long as I become strong, I don't mind, you know," I replied, partially closing my eyes. The wind entering through the window ruffled my white hair.

Himmel looked at me with narrowed eyes, muttering to himself.

"That's cool..." he murmured.

Shaking his head, he sighed and turned towards the exit door. "You remind me of someone with those words."

I remained silent. Himmel reached the door, speaking in a sharp tone. "You said you wanted to become strong, right? Then I will grant it."

He turned back towards me with a cruel smile, "But power doesn't come suddenly or as easily as flipping your hand."

"I know," I replied to him while staring out the window.

"Then get ready. Hell awaits you," Himmel said as he left the room. His footsteps echoed on the wooden floor.

I smiled, still looking out the window, then murmured. "That's what I want—maybe."

The morning air hit my face. In my eyes, I saw a wide green yard, small wooden houses, and people doing their respective jobs.

One of the people looked back at me, their lips parted as if wanting to say something. I smiled and waved, surprising them.

After that, I straightened my back, walking to the seat Himmel had occupied earlier.

Pulling it slightly, I sat down. Closing my eyes for a moment, I said internally.

'Noll.'

Instantly, a transparent text appeared before me.

[Good morning, Host, and congratulations on waking up from a rather long period of unconsciousness]

My lips twitched. I don't know why, but its words sounded like they were mocking me. I spoke to my System, or Noll; I changed its name to make it easier and sound better.

'Are you mocking me or worrying about me?' I asked, slightly annoyed.

[I am certainly worrying about you, Host]

I clicked my tongue internally. 'Tch, whatever!'

I sighed softly, then said to Noll with anticipation.

'Display my mission completion now.'

Ding!

[Mission: Survive against the Demon Order Commander!

Reward: 4000 Points | 4000 EXP | 50 Stat Points.

[Complete!]

[You have leveled up!]

[You have leveled up!]

[You have leveled up!]

.

.

[You have leveled up!]

I looked at the message, my eyes wide open. A wide smile slowly appeared on my face.

"Damn it... I leveled up consecutively!" I said happily.

'Fighting him was not in vain, looking at the reward,' I muttered internally.

When that person appeared, I didn't have time to see the mission reward due to panic and exhaustion. But now, seeing the reward, I felt it was worth it—even though I almost died.

"Ah... Just remembering that I survived fighting a Grandmaster is already a blessing..." I muttered unconsciously.

I laughed hollowly, still staring at my mission completion. From that fight, I realized something about my power.

First about [Unlimited Adaptation]: it turns out the stronger the enemy I fight, the longer my body takes to adapt.

When fighting the Demon Order Commander, my body only began to adapt to his attacks after being hit six times.

And there, I also realized a weakness of this power. The weakness is when enemies fight me in a group.

Because in a group, they can unleash different powers, making it difficult for my body to adapt.

But if it's one-on-one? I win.

Then there is [Unlimited]: this power is very useful and very broken. How could it not be, as it can prevent enemies far stronger than me from touching me.

This power is also what allowed me to survive against Calez and win. This power is great as I grow stronger.

And for [Lightning Fury]: although very strong, this power also has a major weakness, which is causing me to lose control if I'm not careful.

Lastly, the skill [Imagination]: I realized that, thanks to this, I no longer need to cast incantations when using magic. I only need to imagine the magic I want to use, and the magic appears.

But it must be compatible with the affinity I possess. In short, I can create magic in any form.

"Truly broken..."

I shook my head slowly, rubbing my chest which was hit by the Demon Order Commander's punch, which still felt slightly sore.

Why did my body heal quickly when I woke up? Well, my instant regeneration immediately started working when I woke up, albeit slowly.

"I am still weak..." I said, clenching my fist.

[That is correct, Host is still weak]

I said nothing because it was right. I leaned my back against the chair's backrest and murmured.

"System."

A blue screen with star-like speckles appeared, showing my statistics. Unaware that elsewhere—someone had just started their own story.
