Chapter 10 - The Body's Changes During Cultivation

The image of the human body simulated by Daotian gradually enlarged. The minute structures slowly appeared before Lin Hao's eyes.

"As you can see, the human body is composed of extremely small components; it has never been a single, solid mass," Daotian began to explain.

Lin Hao looked at him in surprise, his mind filled with doubts about the image of ancient cultivators.

"Wait a minute. How do you know that?"

"Huh? Why do you ask?" Daotian squinted, full of confusion.

"From what I know, you most likely come from that other world. According to records, that world isn't a modern society. Even though your form looks very modern, I don't think it was created by advanced science and technology," Lin Hao said.

The passage connecting the two worlds had been open for over a hundred years. During this time, numerous explorations had taken place.

Although humanity hadn't fully explored that entire world, some common characteristics were observable.

"Science? What's that?" Daotian frowned and asked.

Want cultivation knowledge? He had it.

Want alchemy knowledge? He had methods for refining pills from first to ninth grade.

Want him to explain the body's structure? He might not know everything, but he understood issues related to spiritual power perfectly.

But science... he had never heard that word in his entire life.

Lin Hao stared blankly at Daotian. His hand gestured awkwardly at the very modern 3D projection.

"What do you mean? You can project 3D images, you know the structure of the human body, but you don't even know what science is?"

???

The lights in Daotian's eyes twitched as if his circuits had been touched.

"How would I know if you don't tell me?"

Lin Hao held his forehead with his hand, feeling as if he had time-traveled to ancient times and had to start explaining modern knowledge to someone.

"Let me think about how to put this..."

Facing this situation for the first time, Lin Hao felt very awkward. He even felt that he himself didn't understand science very well.

"So, from my understanding, science is how we explore and understand the world around us, from things the naked eye can't see to what we experience in daily life. It helps us discover how nature and the universe work through observation, experimentation, and reasoning."

Their roles instantly reversed. Daotian, who had been the teacher, abruptly became the student.

"I see. So it's about understanding and utilizing the rules of nature? I haven't had the chance to see this world yet, but it seems the differences from that place are still quite vast," Daotian muttered, feeling somewhat curious about this new world.

Initially, he had landed on a hill—a common natural feature—so he hadn't considered how much humans could change the world.

"That's strange. If you know nothing about science, how do you understand the human body so clearly? What methods did you use to research it? And why did you research it?" Lin Hao asked curiously.

It's impossible for someone to be born with such extensive and detailed knowledge without doing anything.

A world without a strong scientific foundation yet possessing such complex knowledge... It's hard to imagine what methods Daotian used.

"Methods? You really don't understand cultivators at all," Daotian said.

"How would I know if you don't tell me? I'm not a cultivator," Lin Hao retorted.

"Ah, let me explain then. The higher a cultivator's level, the clearer their perception of their own body becomes—so clear they can sense even the tiniest components. Furthermore, cultivators don't focus on scientific research like you described, but we do research matters related to cultivation," Daotian explained.

Lin Hao nodded. Hearing this, he understood the situation.

In that world, cultivators possess immense power; moving mountains isn't impossible for them. Therefore, they don't need to research machinery or advanced technology to support their lives.

But researching the body is closely tied to cultivation, so they place great emphasis on it.

"Now, let's continue talking about the human body. After spiritual energy is converted into spiritual power, you still can't use it immediately. In this state, that spiritual power doesn't belong to you yet, so the body needs to absorb it. Every cell in the body, after merging with spiritual power, will transform, allowing the body to contain and utilize spiritual power."

Lin Hao nodded, then thought of another important issue. He asked:

"What about when using spiritual power? Does the body return to its original state, or is there a way to recover spiritual power?"

Daotian shot him an appreciative glance and explained.

"No, once the body changes, it changes permanently. Otherwise, it would be absurd for a high-level cultivator to have to start training from scratch after a single battle.

Once the body is accustomed to that amount of spiritual power, it recovers very quickly. The process is similar to cultivation but much easier. Spiritual power flows directly in to replenish the body without going through the transformative process again."

"Understood. If using spiritual power meant falling back to being a mortal, cultivators in this world would never fight," Lin Hao nodded in response.

Hearing this analogy, Daotian laughed and nodded. Some old memories drifted through his mind.

"They don't use spiritual power that often either. Fights happen, but they always weigh the benefits and risks. Although recovery is much faster than cultivation, it still takes time. If you fight constantly, you won't have time to cultivate. Besides, if an enemy attacks when you're out of spiritual power, you'll most likely die."

As he spoke, he was also teaching Lin Hao that spiritual power isn't infinite. Its use must be carefully considered, or regret will follow.

Lin Hao nodded gravely, imprinting this lesson firmly in his mind.

His talent was low, so his recovery would naturally be very slow. He couldn't use spiritual power as casually as those with high talent.

"In short, the speed at which the body evolves to adapt to spiritual energy is part of one's talent. Now, let's move on to the soul." Daotian didn't linger and continued his lecture.
