Chapter 36 - chapter 36

CHAPTER

"I don't want you three to go to your lessons at the moment" The head crossed his fingers together.

"we don't know much about dark magic, meaning we don't know if you'll switch" Nami said.

"so what are we going to do?" Keith rolled his eyes.

"you could study for the upcoming test? or train?" Nami answered.

"right.." Kento tapped his headphones.

"the teachers and other staff will keep careful eye on you, you all may go" the head dismissed.

"gosh, the test! gotta study Nerina, before Kyomi holds my leg again" Kento rushed away

Keith just stared before just walking away.

"okay" I stood there awkwardly before finally leaving.

The teachers suggested that I'll be kept under constant care, same with Kento and Keith, apparently because of Sabina's spell we can switch any time, since we are young. I haven't been to my lessons for more than 3 days.

Honestly, I decided to use my free time to visit the market with friends, and get to know where things are,

"Oh where did everyone go?" I stood in the middle of a busy market.

Today, Thalia wanted us to get a locket?

a ring?

something, she suggested that we should make our own alarm, in case anything happened to the gem, or we find a gem user, we can keep in contact.

I was happy then I'll have another addition to the key strapped to a chain around my neck

"And it seems, I've lost them, again." I sighed "seems like I'll never find my way"

I've tried not to cry much, to avoid suspicion, although.. the dreams I have does cause a bit of tars...

to get rid of them, I have now decided to go out and buy something!

"I could buy something for Kian, I haven't seen him in a while. He'll probably react like he hasn't seen it before"

A thought flashed through my eyes as I imagined Kian's bubbly nature.

"Mommy! I like it!" "I love you!"

"really annoying..." a smile flushed on her face

"Mommy?"

I hummed before turning my head to find a little child holding onto my dress tightly.

"You aren't mommy," he frowned

"Are you, lost little boy?" I looked down.

"I don't know.. Mommy was running from big scary men and I lost her." he teared up.

"Aw… that's so sad, let's try to find her, shall we?" I held his arm tightly.

If I remember, the boy had gills splattered around his body, like mine before the pills Ravi gave me faded. He's a merfolk. Except lighter in terms of complexion.

"where are you from?" I questioned.

the boy looked down.

"don't worry, you can trust me... but I could help you" Nerina smiled.

"Mommy and I are from the south of Aquaria," he sniffled. "She said I shouldn't tell anyone" he covered his head frightened.

"hey.." Nerina gently pulled his hands away

"Aw, thanks, how sweet." I hummed happily.

"W-Why are you holding it here!?" a lady screamed. "Someone help me! She's holding that fish!"

The crowd moved slightly, trying to find the cause of the ruckus.

"Oh no" I muttered. Without a second thought, I quickly shoved the pill Ravi gave me to hide his gills, and quickly splashed him with water to hide his gills.

"What's going on here" a group of police officers came running to us.

"She has them! The merfolks here!" the lady shrieked.

"Where Ma'am" An officer spoke.

"Right in front of you!"

"Um, Ma'am, there are only two elves here"

"I mean it! She did something and boom! He had gills! I saw it!" she lady tried to hold his hand

"Okay, okay" the officer said looking at us, "are you two okay? You aren't hurt right?"

"We are okay." I responded, the little boy stood behind me.

"Don't worry, you two go, we'll deal with this" he smiled warmly.

"Sir, I think she meant her" another officer held a woman roughly..

I watched the boy's face change slightly. As he moved towards her.

"Mommy?" the boy said

"Little boy, this isn't your mother," the officer patted gently. "right?"

"I knew it! I was right!" The lady danced.

The officers roughly grabbed the mermaid's jaw, forcing her to look at the child. "is he you son?"

the boy stared in shock, his hands moving through adrenaline.

The merfolk looked at him before looking down, "He's not my son, I don't have one, they're dead" the guards held her tightly

The boy's face dropped, before he could speak I interjected.

"She's right, we should go back to the park brother." I held his arm.

the boy looked at his mom for the last time before turning around. "okay."

"Have fun kids. And be safe." the officer waved.

"But mommy…"

"Look, I think your mommy wanted someone to protect you." Nerina whispered "you have your tail, so I'm sure you can protect yourself right?"

"I think so, mommy said I can. "

"Good, the ocean is more vast, I'm sure someone stronger can find you and help you better underwater than on land."

I led him to the ocean.

"Okay… but mommy, will I see her?"

"I'm sure you'll see her, she'll be a bit busy though"

I looked around before guiding him into the water.

"Whatever you do, do not come back here, or anywhere, stay in the water until you find nice people okay? I'll go help your mother"

"Okay, bye kind girl" He smiled before jumping into the water.

I watched as his tail flapped away in the distance, before sighing happily

"So stressful"

"I found her!!" Kento screamed from afar.

"The hell are you doing at the beach, Nerina?" Kyomi giggled.

"I came to see the sunset." I replied calmly.

"You're right, sunset usually look better when you're at the beach" Kento added.

"How many times have we lost you this month?" Thalia sighed.

"She's improving, to be honest," Ravi said.

"Yeah, she's trying, the library and beach are far from each other." Kento rolled his eyes.

"sorry guys" Nerina said nervously

"She'll make it one day…I hope" Ravi said.
