Chapter 28 - Chapter 27 – “Little Explorer”

The morning air was crisp, filled with the scent of flowers and the soft chatter of village life.

Kiaan, now confidently walking, toddled along the dirt path outside the village, his small feet kicking up dust. Mi‑un followed closely behind, holding a small basket of food for their journey.

"Kiaan… stay close!" she called, her voice a mix of warning and amusement.

The baby looked up at her, grinning mischievously, and took a few steps forward before turning back, babbling "Sorry…" as if he knew he was pushing her nerves. Mi‑un sighed, but couldn't help laughing.

---

They reached the edge of the village, where the small stream curved around a patch of wildflowers. Kiaan's eyes sparkled with curiosity. He leaned forward to touch the water, splashing it lightly, giggling at the ripples he created.

"Careful, careful!" Mi‑un shouted, her heart racing. He laughed and looked at her with his tiny hands outstretched, trying to reach her face to make her smile. Despite the chaos, Mi‑un's laughter mixed with relief.

Nearby, village children watched the pair. One little girl approached shyly. "Can I help him?" she asked. Mi‑un nodded, grateful for the support. The children guided Kiaan gently, showing him flowers and pointing at small insects, making him squeal with delight.

---

At one point, Kiaan spotted a small hill and decided to climb it. Mi‑un ran after him, her panic rising.

"Nooooo! Kiaan… you're going to fall!" she shouted, arms outstretched.

The baby paused halfway up, then turned to her, giggling and saying, "Sorry…" in his tiny voice. Mi‑un froze, exhaling in disbelief, and finally laughed. He was learning fast—how to apologize, how to make her smile, and how to explore safely under her watchful eyes.

---

After a few hours, they sat by the stream, Kiaan's tiny feet dangling in the water. Mi‑un handed him a small piece of bread. He took it, giggling, and suddenly splashed her gently, making her squeal and laugh at the same time.

"You little troublemaker!" she exclaimed, wiping her wet hands on her apron. "One day… I'll never survive your energy!"

Kiaan responded with playful babbles and pats on her cheeks, trying to make her laugh again. The villagers passing by smiled quietly, amazed at the bond between mother and child, and how naturally the little boy had become part of the community.

---

As the sun began to set, Mi‑un carried Kiaan back toward the village, his tiny fingers wrapped around hers. She whispered softly:

"You've grown so much… exploring, laughing, learning. MK… you'd be proud of him."

Kiaan looked up at her, babbled happily, and reached for her cheek again. Mi‑un laughed, feeling a warmth in her heart she hadn't felt in years.

For now, their little adventures had taught them both something: the world was big, unpredictable, and sometimes scary—but with love, laughter, and each other, they could face anything.
