Chapter 8 ــ Might Guy and Hatake Kakashi
The first day of the Academy had arrived for (Obito).
But to my surprise, he asked me to go with him on his first day.
The request hung in the air between us, simple and earnest.
"Do you want me to go to the Academy with you?"
(Obito) nodded, a serious expression on his young face that was almost comical.
Scrape. His sandal shuffled nervously on the dirt path.
"This is correct, Sensei. I want you to see me as I enter there for the exam."
I thought for a moment, the rustle of a distant leaf the only sound.
Should I agree or not?
On the one hand, the exam was certainly not difficult for someone of (Obito)'s current level.
He could control his chakra quite well now.
He was capable of sticking numerous leaves to his hand as proof.
Furthermore, he had become very strong physically.
And proficient enough that the Academy shouldn't be hard for him.
I hummed quietly, the sound a low vibration in my throat.
The process of thinking and analyzing the subject was a whirlwind in my mind.
And finally, I said to him,
"Alright. I will go there with you on the first day."
A tiny, hopeful spark lit in his eyes.
Crack. A twig snapped under my foot as I shifted my weight.
"But I may not promise to come to you on the remaining days."
I saw him become extremely happy after I told him that.
So, I also smiled.
Inside, I was confident this was a good step.
Because by doing this, I could give him more instructions.
I could stay close to him.
Furthermore, I could see the other characters from the Naruto anime who were his age.
Perhaps I could see (Might Guy).
And also (Hatake Kakashi), (Kurenai), and the rest of the characters who were in (Obito)'s age group.
---
The next morning, I went to the Academy.
There, on the same road, I was watching many children walking with their parents in the same direction.
The air was thick with the smell of dust and anticipation.
I simply concluded that everyone wanted to go to the Academy to watch their children in the exam.
Most civilians, if they weren't orphans, learned about chakra at the beginning of the Academy.
Where talent was the measure of their ability to enter.
Furthermore, they were given some specialized books about chakra.
Children who possessed great talent, in addition to a smart mind, would be able to pass the exam.
While the weak would remain orphans until they got a job after they grew up.
This was the village's policy.
I heard some children smiling and laughing with their parents.
They were different from the orphans.
Perhaps most of the parents of these people were Genin-rank ninja.
Or even Chūnin.
Or even like (Yūhi Kurenai), whose father was a genjutsu specialist and worked in the Anbu.
I remembered this information from the anime partially.
Because it wasn't shown clearly.
But I was sure of this information in some way.
I could say the reason for my certainty was something fundamental, unclear in my information.
Finally, I arrived at the Academy.
And the children were there by the hundreds.
It was natural, for Konoha's Academy needed a new generation of ninja after the end of the Second Shinobi World War.
However, I perceived this end with precise clarity.
It was nothing but a beginning.
It would begin after six years at least.
When these small characters become 12 years old, or a little less, perhaps 11.
The events would begin to return to their normal course.
When war would happen again.
---
"Guy! Be ready! You must be ready! Show them all your youth!"
A loud voice snatched me from my thoughts.
Thump. Thump. My own heart seemed to echo the sudden intrusion.
I looked in the direction the voice was coming from.
And I didn't even need a single second to know the owner of the voice.
His form was like a living biography telling me who he was.
(Might Guy), also known as the Blue Beast of Konoha.
Before that changed and he became the Red Beast of Konoha in the Fourth Shinobi World War.
The person who was called the strongest, even though he was at the bottom of the Academy's student list.
The person who could have ended (Madara) if he had aimed his kick properly at the head.
Unlike (Obito), who didn't recognize him at first, I was able to recognize (Guy) for one reason.
After the incident with (Obito), which was like an explosion…
My discovery that the child who was watching me was, in fact, the ultimate evil…
It had made me very cautious.
So, I had noted down in a notebook the details and appearances of all the distinctive characters.
And (Might Guy) was certainly on the list.
With his distinctive green spandex suit.
His enthusiastic and brave spirit.
His tremendous effort for training.
And his iconic word: "Youth!"
---
"I will certainly do it, my father! I will show them the power of youth!"
The child, who was six years old, had noticeable muscles.
He wore green clothes with some orange on them.
Directly in front of them was an older man.
His clothes were in the same style.
His hair was thick, with large, bushy eyebrows and a distinctive nose.
The man possessed a confident and enthusiastic smile.
In addition to a strong style that gave an aura of his passionate personality.
Furthermore, his eyes were full of intelligence.
He looked at his son with pride.
Clap! His hand came down hard on his son's shoulder, a sound of solid approval.
"I am confident that you will do it, (Guy)!"
He was saying that.
And from afar, (Sousuke) was hearing this.
He couldn't help but sigh.
He had recognized the man, too.
Even though the man hadn't appeared much in the recent anime, except in a few small scenes.
And he had only one intervention.
Yet he had made himself one of the strongest characters in the Naruto series.
(Might Duy), the Eternal Genin.
A very strong and beloved character by Naruto fans.
All of this forced (Sousuke) to sigh.
But it wasn't a sigh of sadness.
It was an excited one.
Just seeing these characters made him feel excitement.
The thought that he could build a relationship with them, even if it was a bit slow, would give him a wonderful reward.
Especially since (Duy) possessed many skills that surpassed the level of any ordinary Jōnin.
Even though he was just a Genin in the village of Konoha.
That was only because of the village's stupid ranking system.
Which relied heavily on Ninjutsu.
And didn't care much about close combat arts like Taijutsu.
Which was natural, especially since these people could send fireballs, or wind blades, or even manipulate the earth, or release water.
This made the fighting style that relied on physical skills seem less dazzling.
But most Jōnin-rank ninja knew that physical skills were the best weapon a ninja could possess.
Chakra could run out very quickly in a long fight.
While physical strength could make you endure that long fight.
Of course, this information wasn't clear to the lower ranks.
Especially the Genin, who loved to get flashy skills and Ninjutsu.
---
"Sensei, is that you?"
(Obito) noticed.
The white hair and black eyes that were staring at a strange child in green clothes and his father, who was crying and hugging him with confusion.
(Obito) approached his teacher and shouted loudly.
Swoosh. He moved quickly, his small body cutting through the crowd.
(Sousuke) turned to (Obito).
"I told you not to scream, (Obito). But yes, I arrived here a little while ago."
He noticed his teacher was still looking out of the corner of his eye at the father and son.
He didn't understand, so he decided to ask.
"Sensei, why are you looking at those two people? Do you know them?"
(Sousuke) didn't know what to say.
Should he tell (Obito) that these two… one was the father who fought the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist and killed four, while the other three ran away fearing death?
Or talk about the younger son who literally almost ended the final villain of the Naruto story with one kick?
Of course, he couldn't say anything else.
So he spoke in a mysterious style.
"I don't know them, but…"
He made his voice more mysterious in one moment.
While trying to make his aura clarify everything else that was unclear.
"I feel that this man, in addition to his son, might be very strong. You should try to be a good friend to that young man. Do you understand?"
Of course, (Obito) didn't understand all the words his teacher said.
Because they seemed mysterious.
But he looked at that young man and felt a shiver.
Yet he hid it well.
He didn't want to show it to his teacher.
He smiled and said, "Of course, I will make him my friend too."
(Sousuke) was happy with these words.
He placed his hand on (Obito)'s shoulder.
Pat, pat. A gentle, reassuring sound.
"Well done. If you continue, you will become a stronger ninja and the future Hokage. You just have to believe that and be able to seek out wonderful friends. And I am sure this boy will be a wonderful friend who will help you become better."
(Obito) was happy with the praise.
So he smiled happily and even felt embarrassed at the same time.
(Sousuke) was unable to think of anything else.
"(Might Duy) is certainly now stronger than most people in the village."
"At the least, he is on the same level as a Jōnin."
"All that just by using the Eight Inner Gates."
"If he were to open the Gate of Death… he would become of Kage rank."
"If I can build a relationship with him through (Guy), then I can enhance my physical skills and fighting styles."
Even after training with the clone, which gave him better experience than what he got from fighting alone and training…
He still could only say that his fighting and physical skills were average compared to other ninja.
Especially the children of other clans in the same category.
It was true he was better than most civilians at this time.
But if he thought of someone like (Minato), who was an orphan…
Furthermore, he was also a civilian like him.
The difference in fighting skills and talent between them was like the difference between heaven and earth.
With a clear superiority for (Minato).
---
"Isn't that the White Fang's son?"
One of the civilians looked at (Sakumo Hatake) and pointed to his son, who was wearing a mask on his face.
Murmur, murmur. The crowd's whispers grew like a swarm of insects.
The son's hair was white like his father's, and his eyes were black.
Intelligence was clear in the son.
In addition to an aura of coolness.
Unlike his father, who seemed cheerful and was smiling at his son.
Naturally, these words brought many looks from various civilians.
In addition to (Sousuke), who turned with (Obito) to the direction the civilians were pointing.
(Obito) asked in confusion, "Sensei, why does everyone seem amazed by this boy with the mask and his father?"
Of course, since (Obito) was very young at this time, he didn't know his fame.
The White Fang, known to be stronger than the legendary Sannin.
The person who terrified entire ninja countries with his white sword that resembled a fang.
"His father is famous. He is a legendary Jōnin. He is much stronger than me."
Without any pride, (Sousuke) said it just like that.
In the end, he didn't want to lie about his strength.
"His son also possesses great talent, and that's why people value him highly."
"But I am sure you will become as strong as him, or even stronger, if you train well, (Obito)."
With these words, (Obito) stopped looking at the boy with the mask and white hair.
He looked at his teacher and felt a lot of warmth.
"My teacher believes in me, so I will never let him down."
The young six-year-old wrote these words in his heart.
