[ Chapter VII (7): "SISTER, HELLO" ]
Caught out of his focus, Michael stopped vaccuming for a second to look at where that high pitched shriel came from.
And when he looked at the entrance, he quickly noticed his sister who's way-way smaller than he remembered. Probably aged 8 or 9 in this timeline.
She has soft features, chubby, freckles on her face. And dark black irises, something she inherited from their father; the rest though, from their mother.
[ "Y-you actually know how to clean!" ]
[ "Are you saying I don't?" ] He answered, more on reflex than not. And yes, he doesn't know how how to clean, he just wants to disagree with his sister.
For a second she blinked a couple of times, as if in disbelief of what she was seeing. Her pink school bag which was decorated with keychains all-over, without her noticing fell to the ground with a thud.
Rubbing her eyes, she wondered if what she was seeing was in fact reality or but a figment of her day dreaming.
But yes, no matter how hard she rub her eye, what she was seeing is still the same.
And that is the scene of his brother actually cleaning their house, so-so unreal, something akin to unicorns. [ "You don't!" ]
[ "Fair enought." ] He agrees with her, yes he is a pig, yes he is a snob, yes he doesn't know how to clean- that is why there are servants on payroll after all.
But after giving his sister a brief scanning look, Michael then became bored when he realized his sister may still be the same; poorer, yes, but maybe still the same. So he instead continued on with vaccuming, the noise sounding heavenly in his ears.
[ "Wow... this can't be real." ] Patricia, his sister, mumbled clearly in disbelief as she went to the couch, to lay her bag. [ "Are you sure your really my... brother?" ]
[ "..." ] Michael paused for a moment, not used by the fact that he and his sister aren't throwing curses at one another, like in some kind of wizarding tournament.
Usually whenever he is at home, early dinner, or whenever they pass by one another; they would immedietly get into verbal fights, no clear reason at all, just straight up fighting for the sake of fighting.
In not experiencing that now, he felt weird. But ultimately he liked that change, as he then smiled at her- creeping her out, before then calmly answering her question as straight as he could.
[ "I had a nosebleed, and now I have amnesia. So technically, I don't remember you. Who ever are you?" ]
[ "Yeah, right." ] She didn't trust what her brother said, instead giving a faint snear as she kept annoying Michael. Not really believing the absurdity of what he had just said.
[ "And what's next? Us being secretly rich, lol." ] She shook her head, before then turning her attention from her brother to the tv in front of her; which she turned on.
[ "I'm gonna watch tv, don't bother me." ]
Michael who's vaccuming the stairs gave a quick thumbs up to his sister, and an- [ "Okay." ] before then leaving her alone to clean the upstairs corridor.
The lack of clear protest surprised her, but ultimately she just shrugged her shoulders before then focusing on the show on the tv- which is showing Powerpuff Girls.
[ "Go Bubbles! Beat up that no-gooder, stinky, ugly monster!" ]
Be it amnesia, a car accident, or brain damage. Pat doesn't care, as long as she could be left alone to watch her segments on the tv, then everything's a-ok.
Meanwhile Michael was busy figuring out how the vaccum actually works, while cleaning his messy room that is.
Thoughts drifting to the attitude of his sister, [ "Still insufferable, I guess." ]
He never will say this out loud, but he cares about his sister. And he hopes that their relationship in this universe wouldn't be as intense, as like his original one.
To his father too, though he has yet to meet the man officially aside for stories from his mother and the pictures.
So with nothing to do, he kept vaccuming his room, and even rearranging furniture here and there to his liking.
And also moving the toys in one corner, he's an adult for christ sake, no way in hell he'll get caught playing with one of those.
[ -----| SCENE BREAK |----- ]
[ "I'm home!" ] Lanna, yelled out. Carrying dozens of plastic bags which is filled to the brim with food, biscuits, and other daily neccecities she bought from the grocery.
Clearly out of breath and slightly sweating, she ran as fast as she could back home due to the sole fact that his children are at home alone. And also by the fact, her son doesn't remember anything about her.
[ "Hi Mom!" ] And in hearing her voice, Pat, the youngest of the family and is the princess, then popped her head from the couch to greet her mother.
Before then reluctantly turning from the show (Dexter's Laboratory) to her mother, as she then helped her carry the bags. Which earned her a pinch to the cheek.
[ "Pat, baby, where is your brother?" ]
[ "Michael? Oh, he's upstairs cleaning and rearranging his room, probably." ] Pat answered absentmindedly as she dragged the bags to the tabletop, still not buying the fact that her brother actually has amnesia.
Lanna on the other hand knows that he has amnesia, and has been worried about him since she went out the house; which is why she rushed home as fast as she humanly could. [ "Oh dear..." ]
Hearing that, she climbed the stairs and went to her son's room. And in opening it, she immedietly realized that the bed is on the process of being moved to the corner, she doesn't know exactly why.
[ "Hi Mom!" ] Michael stared for a second, flashed a smile, then continued with pushing the bed to the corner. For maximum room efficiency, and effectivity.
[ "Michael what are you doing?!" ]
[ "Moving my... bed?" ] He answered on instinct, but then he stopped when he noticed the fear and worry in his mother's eyes. Leaving the bed ajar.
[ "And what if you hurt yourself?" ] She asked, clearly worried. Then rushing to his side, as she then helped with the heavy lifting. [ "Oh heavens, no. Let me do the rearranging, Mikey." ]
[ "Thanks..." ]
He moved to the side, still not used to seeing this side of his mother. He couldn't even protest, due to the fact that his mother is three times stronger compared to his 11-year-old lanky body.
And after moving the bed, his mother then ruffled his hair as she gestured for him to follow her and go down the stairs; Michael ever the obedient son, did just that.
[ "I know dear, everything might be weird for you right now. But remember what I said? She is your sister." ]
She paused, pointing at the clear smaller copy of her sitting on the couch, enjoying the tv and the show being shown; about robots fighting monsters.
[ "Pat, baby, can you come here for a sec. Mommy is gonna tell you something important." ]
[ "Alright Mom!" ] Which then reluctantly stood up from the couch, standing besides her mother, waiting.
[ "Yes...?" ] Eyes trailing back and forth from Michael to her mother, eager and ready to do what her mom wants for her to do. However absurd that may be.
For a second Lanna thought of a way to clearly express what she wants to say, even when she went to the grocery, while, and after, she thought of ways on how she could explain the situation to her 8-year-old girl.
But ultimately she decided that the best choice is to tell her everything straight, she wanted to sugar coat it, but she didn't exactly know how.
[ "Your brother has amnesia, he can't remember you, he can't remember anything that happened the day before, or anything before that." ]
Pat heard what her mother said, furrowed her brows, then stared at the smug Michael who is mouthing to her, "I told you."
Before then finally she realized what her mother was saying, as she then yelled out, [ "WHAT?!" ]
[ "Yes, he can't remember anything." ]
[ "Yeah, see. I wasn't lying." ] Michael said with his head raised high, as if he just won a hard fought battle against his sister. In his eyes, he did. Is he petty? Absolutely.
He kept that grin while his mother kept explanating to his sister what exactly is going on, what they would need to do in the future, and what will happen next.
Even when his mother talked to him, he still had that triumphant look, something his mother noticed but didn't brought up.
After a while, the impromptu meeting was over, as she then went to the kitchen to arrange the grocery she bought and to fix them a solid dinner.
[ "You really don't remember a thing?" ] Pat asked, a trace of pity on her face, another thing that Michael had seen for the first time.
[ "Hmm hmm." ] Michael nodded his head, as he then went to the couch, to look and see what's up with the tv. The only solid thing here, as he doesn't own a phone.
[ "How does that even work?" ] She asked, a hand under her chin, genuinely curious. [ "Are you- are you a robot?" ]
[ "...?!" ]
Michael raised a brow at that comment, shaking his head as he then went to the kitchen leaving his younger sister still confused and dazed. [ "Mom, I want to help with your cooking!" ]
