25. Call
⟡ Amara's Phone Rings — The Supreme Beast King
Amara was still teasing Marcelline when her phone suddenly buzzed.
The moment she saw the caller ID…
Her entire aura softened instantly.
Amara (smiling uncontrollably):
"…Him."
Marcelline smirked knowingly.
Marcelline:
"Your husband?"
Amara (already blushing like a lovestruck Lioness ):
"Don't. Say. Anything."
She stepped away and answered.
Her voice dropped from "mocking menace" to "dangerously soft wife."
Amara (sweet, warm):
"Hi… my king."
A deep, low, velvet voice came through the phone.
Even Marcelline heard the rumble from a distance.
Beast King:
"Miss me?"
Amara bit her lip, cheeks turning pink.
Amara:
"Obviously. You disappeared for a whole three hours."
Beast King (teasing):
"Three hours feels like torture without you."
Marcelline rolled her eyes playfully.
Marcelline:
"Ugh. Get a room."
Amara gave her a deadly look that said shut up before I claw your face.
But then she turned back to her call with a honey-soft voice.
Amara:
"Did you eat?
Did you sleep?
Are you taking the herbs I gave you?"
Beast King:
"Only if you give them to me with your hands."
Amara covered her face, nearly melting.
Marcelline laughed.
Marcelline:
"Supreme Beast Queen, huh? Completely whipped."
Amara mouthed "Die." at her…
but her husband's voice instantly soothed her again.
Beast King:
"I'll pick you up later.
And tonight…
you're not sleeping away from me."
Amara's heart exploded.
Amara (stuttering softly):
"O-Okay…"
Marcelline smirked.
Marcelline:
"Should I leave you two alone before you start breathing into the mic?"
Amara hissed at her.
Amara:
"Go submit your assignment and choke somewhere."
Marcelline laughed and waved goodbye, heading toward the professor's office.

⟡ Professor's Wing — Too Quiet
The corridor was empty.
Too empty.
No students.
No voices.
No footsteps.
Just silence.
Marcelline walked with her usual "I-don't-give-a-damn" swagger, heels clicking.
Her cute sweet expression was still on her face…
but her inner aura?
Cold. Sharp.
The devilish queen hidden beneath.
Marcelline (muttering):
"Why is it so dead here?
Whatever. I just want my assignment copy."
She reached the professor's door and found it slightly open.
Marcelline knocked once.
No response.
She pushed it open and stepped inside.
The office was empty too.
But her paper was already placed on the desk—as if someone had left it out just for her.
Marcelline:
"Huh. Convenient."
She walked in casually, grabbed the assignment sheet—
Then turned around to leave.
That's when it happened.
A cold gust of air brushed past her neck.
Fast.
Too fast for a human.
The lights flickered once.
Marcelline froze mid-step.
Her smile disappeared instantly.
Her cute face shifted—
Her eyes darkened.
Demonic slit pupils appeared for a fraction of a second.
Marcelline (low, murderous whisper):
"…If that was a ghost or a cursed creature—
I swear I'll tear its existence apart."
Her aura changed.
Sweet angel → silent devil.
She turned her head slowly, scanning the empty office.
Her heels clicked once on the floor as she pivoted.
Marcelline:
"Come out."
Silence.
Nothing moved.
But she felt it.
A presence.
Cold. Familiar.
Her lips curved into a dangerous smile.
Marcelline:
"Oh… so it's you."
Her voice dropped, elegant but deadly.
Marcelline:
"You dare brush past me and run?"
Her power flared for one heartbeat—
a soft shimmer of fairy light mixing with demonic shadow.
