The pack watched as Xeno and the others left. Heta rested her hand on her stomach; the worry in her eyes was apparent. Visha and Uri stood watching until they were out of sight.
"They will come back safely. The pack will be whole again soon."
Uri spoke to no one in particular. But the people who remained knew he was speaking to let them know that they should not worry.
The day went as expected. Those who were to hunt went hunting, those who wanted to forage foraged. Foraging had become less of an activity after they started farming. Now they mostly grow things in their own gardens or in the large tracts of land that were previously cleared for the purpose.
Foraging has now become almost recreational.
Visha still foraged because she didn't want to grow the herbs she needed in her garden. She felt it was better to keep such things wild rather than grow them herself.
The day ended, and Visha and Uri went to bed.
