Uri paused for a moment. The corruption on the other elk was visible. The grass around them had gone black as well. He looked in the direction the other had disappeared.
Sure they had left, he used his power. He wasn't entirely sure it would work since they were already dead, but he tried just the same. The devouring power swirled around the carcasses.
Before long, Uri retracted his power. He nodded when he saw the result. Xeno and Visha, who were also watching, could not keep their composure.
Surprise swam through their bond. Their hearts were racing. Visha's eyes were wide, Xeno's mouth dropped. Uri's surprise was less because he had experienced it before.
But that did not mean he had no reaction at all.
"I just found out. The elk," he gestured some distance away to the one he killed. "It died when the corruption was gone. And...it comes to me as vital energy."
