Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Rokushiki

There were other hauls taken from the Marine vessel, and one of the more unusual items was a complete manual detailing the entire set of martial arts known as Rokushiki.

John could not understand why a basic Marine ship would even have something like this stored on board, since he always assumed that these manuals were strictly kept within Marineford's training grounds.

In his mind, only Marines who trained directly at the headquarters or Cipher Pol agents had legitimate access to these techniques. The idea that a random ship carried such an important document confused him.

Still, the more he thought about it, the more he considered it a fortunate discovery. If fate decided to hand him something this valuable, then he had no intention of wasting the opportunity.

The possibility of using Rokushiki as a foundation to create entirely new branches of martial arts naturally formed inside his mind.

He sat on the floor with the manual resting on his legs while Narberal stood nearby, wondering what John found so fascinating.

John read the entire manual from start to finish, taking his time to understand the explanations, diagrams, and practice methods written inside it.

Each technique had its own principles, but the one that caught his interest the most was Rokougan, which produced a powerful burst of shockwave that reminded him of Sengoku's Devil Fruit.

The other technique that captured his attention was Geppo, as it opened several possibilities for movement and combat.

John's thoughts began to move rapidly as he imagined the different ways these training methods could be altered, expanded, or combined. His mind drifted back to the long list of anime he had seen in his previous life, recalling every martial art he had learned about.

One martial art in particular stood out, a technique from Kano Country that allowed the user to control vibration through their own body and release it outward.

The more he thought about it, the more he believed that with the help of his Essence, he could potentially mimic or even surpass the destructive power associated with the Earthquake Devil Fruit.

While he was still lost in thought, Narberal finally spoke. "John, is something wrong, Captain?"

His question snapped John out of his frozen state. "No, nothing's wrong. I just finished going through the haul from the raid. This manual explains Rokushiki. It is the martial arts system taught to World Government agents," John replied calmly as he handed the manual to him.

Narberal accepted it and began reading. Meanwhile, John continued speaking, explaining his idea as it formed in real time. "I want to create a new martial arts system using the methods described here, but with variations in training so that the end result becomes something different. For example, I plan to combine Kami e with Shigan. If I train my arms to move flexibly like a snake rather than like a sheet of paper, and then apply the finger pistol technique at the same time, I might create a technique similar to a Snake Whip. The thrust would be sharp enough to possibly decapitate someone on contact. What do you think about that?"

Narberal stayed silent for a moment, reading and comparing what John said to what the manual described. After a short while, he closed the manual and gave his answer."It sounds possible. Do you need help with anything?"

John did not really need his confirmation to know it could be done. The real purpose of asking was to check whether Narberal had any hesitation toward using World Government techniques, considering his own past. Judging by his calm response, it seemed he had no issues at all.

"Oh, I also remembered something," John continued. "In the South Blue, there is a country where the ruling family developed a martial art that controls vibrations. If mastered, it might even replicate the abilities of the Quake Quake Fruit. That Devil Fruit is extremely powerful, so I think studying their art could be very interesting."

"I did not know that. I also did not know that a Devil Fruit with that name exists, but based on how you are talking, you probably already set our course toward South Blue," Narberal replied.

John nodded. "It is already done. I adjusted our direction earlier."

Narberal smiled at that answer. He stood up after a moment of thought and began walking toward the training room. "I will restart my training."

His movement reminded John of Bullet, who was still practicing his punches against a metal plate.

Surprisingly, the plate already had a visible dent where the small child had been striking repeatedly. Even more impressive was the fact that Bullet maintained perfect form every time.

John watched quietly. 'Even at a young age, a monster is still a monster,' he thought.

He failed to realize that the same description applied to him as well, only at a much higher level, since he possessed advantages that no ordinary person could ever replicate.

"Narberal, train Bullet as well," John called out. He turned around immediately and walked back toward Bullet to tell him about the additional training.

Bullet celebrated the moment he heard it, clearly excited to train with Narberal. Afterward, the two left the deck and John was left alone once again.

With the quiet surrounding him, John began forming countless mental images. He compared every martial art he had ever seen in anime, matched them against the Rokushiki techniques, and imagined how his body would perform each movement.

The longer he focused on these internal simulations, the faster and clearer the images became.

It was a skill he had begun developing during his time on Karakuri Island, since visualizing machinery and inventions helped him create them more efficiently.

After an hour of mental training, John finally relaxed. He had thought of several different ways to apply the Rokushiki methods, along with ideas for other martial arts he wished to learn during his time in the One Piece world.
