Chapter 246: Lucifer's Burning Question, The Group Chat's Frenzy
Lucifer was utterly bewildered.
'Who am I? Where am I?'she thought, a sense of deep displacement washing over her.'Why does everyone seem to have a special, exclusive dish made by Ren? And I don't?'
The situation was leaving her feeling exceptionally awkward.
After a moment of quiet contemplation, she turned to the small girl beside her. "Sora, do you happen to know what dishes Ren is making?"
Kasugano Sora nodded vigorously, her silver hair bouncing. "Brother Ren must be making the three dishes. The portions aren't very big, but they smell so, so good~"
"Eh? How do you know that?" Lucifer asked, intrigued.
Sora leaned in, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Because every time Brother Ren sees that I'm feeling a little better, he makes these three dishes for me. Even though eating all of them makes me very full, I feel full of energy afterward!"
Her words piqued Lucifer's curiosity to an extreme degree, but she kept her expression composed. She couldn't bring herself to ask about it. If she, a figure who prided herself on being a dignified older sister, were to start eagerly discussing what kind of food makes one "full of energy," she felt her entire image would crumble into dust.
Lucifer watched as Kasugano Sora pulled out her phone, her fingers hovering over the screen as if she were about to play a game, only to quietly put it away again. A gentle smile touched Lucifer's lips. "It looks like you really enjoy playing on your phone, Sora."
Kasugano Sora shook her head. "No... to be precise, I just like going online. I don't go out much, so I spend a lot of time on the internet. That's also why Kirari-nee and the others always choose to contact me directly online..."
Lucifer sighed, a hint of helplessness in her tone. "But being addicted to the internet isn't a good thing, you know. When you have nothing to do, you should come here more often to play. I'm telling you, right now, there are two people here who would be perfect playmates for you."
"Eh?! But my personality..." Sora shrank back slightly, clutching her rabbit doll.
Lucifer waved a dismissive hand, her confidence returning. "Those two should be asleep by now, but they would definitely become friends with you, Sora~ I swear it on Beelzebub's name!"
Kasugano Sora nodded, her expression a mixture of confusion and awe. "Oh... that sounds amazing... But Sister Lucifer, who is Beelzebub? Why are you swearing by her name?"
"Who is she...?" Lucifer paused, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "You can think of her as a very, very terrible big fly~"
(Somewhere, a certain Great Fly sneezed violently: Are you being polite?!)
Hearing this, Kasugano Sora froze. A look of pure disgust slowly crept across her face. "Eww~ Sister Lucifer, that's so gross... A big fly is bad enough, but a terrible one? Wouldn't that be incredibly filthy...?"
Lucifer mentally pictured the Lord of Gluttony and nodded with grim satisfaction. "In a sense, she does look quite filthy~"
"So disgusting..." Sora muttered, shivering.
Lucifer would absolutely never defend Beelzebub when someone spoke ill of her. This deeply ingrained rivalry was precisely why she had reacted so strongly when Ren mentioned Beelzebub had run out earlier.
An idea sparked in her mind. Lucifer quietly pulled a nearby laptop over, opened the built-in drawing program, and cleared her throat. "Sora, I'll draw Beelzebub for you. You'll know exactly what she looks like once you see it~"
Kasugano Sora whispered, her voice laced with doubt, "Actually, Sister Lucifer, I don't think it could be that disgusting..."
"You'll know when you see it," Lucifer declared with a grin. "I'm telling you, my drawing skills are super amazing~"
"Eh?! Really?"
Sora watched with wide, expectant eyes as Lucifer gripped the mouse and began to draw the legendary Beelzebub. A few minutes later, Kasugano Sora stared blankly at the object on the screen—a chaotic mess of lines that barely resembled a stick figure—and silently gave a big thumbs-up, her expression unreadable.
Lucifer scratched her head, a faint blush of embarrassment on her cheeks. "Ahem. I'm not very proficient with the mouse. Let me go get some paper and a pen~"
Watching Lucifer march off, utterly determined to prove herself, Kasugano Sora didn't say a word. She just sat there obediently, hugging her bunny doll a little tighter.
The moment Lucifer ran upstairs, she finally took out her own phone. She hadn't been able to in front of Kasugano Sora; she couldn't just ignore the little girl to play on her phone, especially when the child was so well-behaved and, frankly, so pitiful.
Tapping open the group chat, Lucifer quickly @-ed everyone and then typed out the crucial question that had been burning in her mind.
[Hell CEO]: "Do all of you have your own exclusive, representative dish with Ren?"
The result that flooded her screen left Lucifer dumbfounded. Everyone, with the sole exception of Cerberus, gave the same, simple answer.
"Yes..."
In that moment, Lucifer felt her world tilt. She stood frozen, completely out of sorts.
[World's Foodie]: "So why the sudden question, Lucifer? Do you have an exclusive dish too?"
[Love Master]: "What's that, Rindou, you're still too naive. I think one of us must have paid a visit to Ren's Shop~"
[Empress]: "I think so too~"
[World's Foodie]: "Kirukiru! You're not asleep yet?! You have time to chat in the group? You're really something~ So, Lucifer, who exactly did you meet?"
[Hell CEO]: "Sora came over. She said Ren makes her three fixed dishes. Do you know what they are?"
The group chat instantly fell silent. The quiet stretched for a long, tense moment before the screen suddenly exploded with messages. Even Yumiko and Sōryūin Shion, who rarely spoke, began typing frantically.
[Yumiko]: "Lucifer, how is Sora's health? It's nothing serious, right? Does she have a fever?"
After patiently answering a barrage of worried questions, Lucifer finally let out a sigh of relief and typed a final, cryptic reply.
[Hell CEO]: "You all really care about that child, don't you? Don't worry. I'll give you all a surprise later~"
"Eh?" xN
But no matter how much they pressed her, Lucifer didn't say another word. A bold idea had taken root in her mind: she would use her magic to completely restore Kasugano Sora's health, just as she had for Yagami Hikari.
However, the consequence of such an act would be revealing the existence of the Other World to Sora. She would need to ask Ren for permission first. Still, she had a strong feeling he would agree.
Downstairs, Sora sniffed the air. "Hmm... Brother Ren really is making that dish. But Sister Lucifer is so slow... Doesn't she know where the paper is?"
"Sora, I found it!"
When Kasugano Sora turned to see Lucifer returning, she was stunned into silence before she could even speak. Lucifer hadn't just brought back paper and a pen—she had already finished the drawing and was carrying the completed artwork down. The sketch proved that Lucifer hadn't been bluffing in the slightest; her artistic skills were truly excellent.
Kasugano Sora stared at the grotesquely detailed, monstrously large fly depicted on the paper. She swallowed hard. "Hmm... it really is an ugly big fly. But Sister Lucifer, how are your drawing skills so good!"
Lucifer hummed, puffing out her chest with pride. "Of course. And it's not just drawing. When it comes to rhythm games, I'm an absolute master, too."
'It's only natural,'she thought smugly.'A Great Archangel is, by definition, a little bit good at everything. A whole lot, actually.'
