Chapter 34 - 34. Bury the Gods!

On screen, Gilgamesh darted through the gods like a golden storm.

Lesser gods couldn't withstand even a single blow.

But his massacre trampled the gods' pride into mud.

To be killed wasn't shameful.

To be killed by a human was humiliation beyond death.

"Damn it! I don't believe it—he's just a human!"

Stronger war gods finally rose together, unleashing judgment.

Frost howled. Lava rained from the sky. Space twisted. Mountains cracked.

The battlefield looked like the apocalypse.

Yet Gilgamesh only grew more exhilarated.

"HAHA! Tremble all you like. No matter what storms you raise, you'll die beneath my blade!"

He cleaved through gales, split molten floods, and advanced even as the earth shattered.

Most gods were household deities, helpless under his fury.

Even combat gods could only slow him for a moment.

Half an hour later, his hands were numb, his grip faltering.

But his gold armor was soaked in divine blood, radiating violence and doom.

Dying gods cursed him:

"We'll return, Gilgamesh. You'll die a miserable death!"

Anu roared, stunned and furious.

He never imagined the gods he ruled would be so weak—so much weaker than the weapons he himself had forged.

"I think I hear a dog barking."

Gilgamesh dragged the tips of his blades across the ground, sparks screeching.

He walked toward Anu.

Enkidu, pale and shaking, forced his chains tighter and shouted:

"King—now!"

"You've done well, Enkidu. Some gods escaped, but the ringleader dies here."

The twin longswords vanished.

Standing on the ravaged earth, Gilgamesh opened a golden vortex before him.

A golden hilt rose into his blood-stained hand.

He spoke as the Sword of Rupture screamed into motion, its three segments spinning against each other.

"Humanity's first tale… the dawn before creation's end!"

"By my Sword of Separation, I rend the world!"

"Enuma Elish!"

A scorching beam blasted down, swallowing Anu.

Reality buckled. The ground collapsed.

Anu screamed, but the sword's roar drowned him out.

"Enkidu, move!"

Gilgamesh sensed something in the beam and snatched Enkidu onto his shoulder, fleeing.

"GIL-GA-ME-SH!"

Anu's hateful voice thundered as a terrifying presence erupted behind them.

"I was careless. I thought the gods were all weak… but their king is this strong!"

Gilgamesh forced his legs faster, racing for the exit of the Divine Realm.

In the modern Uruk palace, the ministers were burning with pride.

One thin official cried out, unable to contain himself:

"We swear to follow our king unto death!"

The shout spread, ministers echoing it one after another.

But the Gilgamesh on the throne didn't laugh as usual.

He fell into rare silence, eyes narrowed.

"What drove you to that decision…?"

The Gilgamesh in the video was stronger, truer to the word "hero" than even he believed himself capable of.

If that was still him… then perhaps he, too, held that same potential.

"King, are you alright?" Beth asked softly, eyes shining.

Gilgamesh snapped out of it, laughing in his usual grand way.

"HAHAHA! Enjoy my majesty. Things are getting more interesting."
