Chapter 27: The Rebellion Begins
After closing a "multi-billion beri deal" with Robin ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), Luo Lin lay in bed feeling refreshed, while Robin slept sweetly on his chest.
His current physique was stronger than a giant's. Poor Robin had a hard time keeping up. Feeling the soft sensation on his chest, his thoughts started wandering again.
Robin had long graduated from the D-cup tribe, crossed E-F-G-H, and proudly arrived at the legendary I-cup territory!
Every time he saw them, he was left in awe, drooling, and unable to keep his hands off—but in the end he still couldn't bear to wake her.
He gently slipped out of bed, kissed her forehead, and stepped onto the balcony. The sun was setting.
Perfect timing—he hadn't cooked a proper feast for Robin in ages. The palace kitchen had everything, so tonight was the night for a love-filled dinner!
Robin loved sandwiches, cake, and coffee—he remembered everything.
He borrowed every ingredient from the temporary butler and got to work.
First the cake (most time-consuming). Sandwiches and coffee could wait; meat for himself last.
Heat milk + sugar → beat egg yolks with flour → pour in the hot milk → cook into custard → cool → whip in butter like a madman → cream done → steam the sponge.
…
He kept busy until nightfall.
Robin woke up groggily and saw him still bustling around.
"Luo Lin."
Whoosh—he appeared in front of her instantly. She wasn't startled; this happened too often.
"What do you need, Robin baby?"
"What are you doing?"
"Hehe! Surprise love dinner, of course! Tons of goodies! Get up—almost ready!"
He pinched her cheek—best feeling in the world. He'd been pinching those cheeks since they were kids.
"Okay!"
She threw off the blanket and started dressing.
Luo Lin nearly drooled on the spot.
They were an old married couple, so Robin had zero shyness, but that view still made his brain short-circuit.
"Robin baby~ Need help dressing? Hehe."
"No. I know exactly what you're thinking, pervert."
She smiled beautifully and shot down the old lecher's offer.
Luo Lin sighed dramatically and went back to stirring the meat in the pot.
Robin smiled gently. From childhood to now, whenever she said no, Luo Lin never forced her. Having a husband like that—she considered herself the luckiest woman alive.
(Of course, when she was "playing hard to get," he understood perfectly („ಡωಡ„))
When the last dish hit the table, Robin finished washing up.
Luo Lin lit two candles for a proper candlelight dinner.
They sat side by side—not across from each other like in dramas. Old couples go for cozy, not awkward distance. (Luffy could sit alone and clear the whole table anyway.)
First up: the giant cream cake.
He cut a huge slice and handed it to her.
"Try this—made it specially for you!"
Robin took a small bite—eyes sparkling.
"Mmm! So good! You have some too!"
"Hehe, told you I'm the best! But don't fill up—tons more food! Cake is dessert later!"
"Okay!"
…
They fed each other bites, the atmosphere impossievably sweet.
Under Robin's endless praise, Luo Lin gradually lost himself. Eating became secondary—stealing kisses from Robin was the main mission.
After dinner, they lay on the balcony stargazing.
"The stars here are prettier than anywhere else."
"Mm! Desert city bonus!"
"Luo Lin?"
"Hm?"
"After we find all the Poneglyphs… what then?"
"Go back to Cocoyasi Village, obviously. Have a bunch of kids, retire! Or if you still wanna travel the world, I'll follow you anywhere!"
"Not a bunch—giving birth is hard!"
"Right, right. However many you want!"
"Mmm~"
…
Next morning, Cobra himself came knocking.
Luo Lin opened the door half-asleep. Sun already high.
"Oh, King Cobra! What's up?"
"Disaster! The rebel army is here! Mr. Luo Lin, you said you could stop the rebellion—what do we do?!"
Vice Captain Bell beside him was frantic.
"No panic. How many?"
"At least two million rebels! Marching from 15 km south!"
Luo Lin's mouth twitched. Two million? Who made that up? Alubarna couldn't even fit 200,000!
"Got it. South gate, right? I'll hold the south. You guys handle the other four however you want."
"B-But… Mr. Luo Lin! Alone?"
"Yep! One is enough. Withdraw the south gate troops—I'll be there before they attack."
"…Understood! We're counting on you!"
Cobra cut off Bell's protests and left with his guards.
From what Luo Lin had seen these past few days, two million was nonsense. Max 200–300k total. Split five gates → maybe 70–80k at south gate, all cannon fodder.
Luffy, after two years of Haki training, one-shot 50,000 fish-men. Luo Lin? Twenty years of Haki + top-tier swordsman. Child's play.
Even if there really were two million, split five ways = 400k per gate. Still cannon fodder.
Against absolute power, numbers sometimes mean nothing.
"Robin baby, heading out! Back soon!"
"Be careful!"
She'd overheard everything. She trusted his strength completely, but still had to say it.
"Will do! Gimme a kiss for luck!"
He puckered up.
Robin pecked his lips.
"Too quick! Doesn't count—owe me later!"
He grabbed Mitama and leaped out the window. (When did he start refusing doors?)
The streets were empty—civilians evacuated or hiding. Only soldiers rushing about.
"East, West, South, Southeast, Southwest! Hold every gate! Not one rebel steps into Alubarna!"
"Yes, sir!"
Chaka was rallying the troops. Luo Lin glanced, then strolled leisurely to the south gate.
The royal army hadn't withdrawn—Cobra didn't fully trust him yet.
A captain-like officer approached.
"Are you Mr. Luo Lin?"
"Yep. What's up?"
"Nothing! Captain Bell said we're to assist you!"
"Got it. You won't be needed—just watch. Got a megaphone?"
"…Yes!"
The officer left. Moments later, the troops mobilized… and a soldier brought a lounge chair.
Luo Lin shrugged at their "cooperation." Obviously just polite words.
He strapped the megaphone to his waist, walked to the very front of the wall, sat down, and watched dust clouds rise several kilometers away.
Less than five minutes later, the rebel army arrived.
Luo Lin almost laughed.
Usopp-level bluffing. Looked like a black sea of 2 million, but probably not even 400k total.
They split up for the other gates. South gate ended up with about 100k.
Once division finished, the remaining 100k charged the south gate.
"All units—defensive positions! Don't let them through!"
The royal army behind him obeyed.
Luo Lin ignored them, stood up, and drew Mitama.
"One-Sword Style: Air-Rending Slash!"
A sword beam shot out, growing massive in mid-air—over a kilometer long by the time it neared the ground.
The rebels saw the gigantic slash and frantically halted.
BOOM!!!!
Dust clouded everything for two full minutes.
The slash carved a trench over 1km long, 2 meters wide, and who-knows-how-deep, stopping just twenty meters from the front line.
Both sides stood dumbfounded.
The royal army had watched Luo Lin swing—hearing only choking "h-heh…" sounds from their throats.
The rebels had no idea what just happened.
Among the rebels were swordsmen too, but none could imagine producing an attack like that.
Then Luo Lin's voice boomed through the megaphone:
"Listen up, rebels! You are already surrounded! Lay down your weapons and surrender—that's your only way out! Next slash lands on you!"
Left hand megaphone, right hand supreme-grade sword. Weirdly comical image.
The rebels snapped out of it and stared at the lone figure atop the wall.
"That attack… came from him?"
"I-I think so!"
"How can a human do that?! Is he a monster?!"
"Hmph! So what! We have two million men! One spit each and he's dead! CHARGE!"
Some hothead rallied them. Everyone roared in agreement and charged again, eyes locked on Luo Lin.
Luo Lin shrugged—sent another slash.
This time they saw clearly: that impossible attack really came from the guy on the wall.
"Danger!"
"Stop!"
"Help! I don't wanna die!"
The second slash deepened the same trench. Front rows tried to brake; rear rows shoved them in. Many fell screaming into the abyss.
Hope nobody died!
The royal army, after the initial shock, erupted into massive cheers.
"That was awesome, Mr. Luo Lin!!"
"Unbelievable strength!! Yohohoho!"
The noise annoyed him.
"SHUT UP!"
Instant silence.
Luo Lin nodded in satisfaction, turned back—cheers exploded again.
His face darkened. He jumped straight off the wall.
The royal troops panicked and rushed to look.
Seeing him land perfectly, they sighed in relief.
The rebels calmed down too.
"He jumped down! Don't fear his strength! Tens of thousands of us—trample him! For our utopia!!"
"Yeah! For our utopia! Down with tyrant Cobra! We will liberate Alabasta!"
Fueled by slogans, they charged again, fearless.
Luo Lin sneered.
Poor fools—puppets dancing in Baroque Works' palms.
As the frontmost rebel leaped and swung down at him, Luo Lin's eyes narrowed.
Conqueror's Haki—full burst!
Overwhelming pressure instantly blanketed nearly 100,000 rebels at the south gate.
The world seemed to lose color—turning black and white.
The descending blade froze half a meter from Luo Lin's head.
Thud!
The first man collapsed.
Then like dominoes, nearly the entire 100,000 dropped unconscious.
Only a few hundred barely remained standing, faces pale, sweating buckets, legs shaking, using weapons just to stay upright.
"What… what just happened?! I almost blacked out!"
"What did that guy do?!"
"No idea—he's the devil! Did he just knock out tens of thousands in an instant?!"
Poor guys still thought they had hundreds of thousands.
Luo Lin's voice rang out again:
"Get it now? No matter how many you are, you're not my match. I spared your lives because I don't want to kill you. Stay there quietly.
The other gates have monsters just like me. You have zero chance.
Cross that trench and you die."
He turned and walked back inside the gate, ignoring their reactions.
This time the royal army didn't dare cheer. If earlier they admired him, now they feared him.
Finally the trembling captain asked:
"Mr. Luo Lin… you said the other gates have people as strong as you… is that true?"
"Of course… it's a lie. You think monsters like me grow on trees?"
The captain's face went from ecstatic to dead inside.
Luo Lin didn't wait for a reply—he was already gone.
Total rebel force: ~300k. He alone neutralized a third. Enough work for one day.
Time to find Cobra and read that Poneglyph.
Luffy and the gang should be arriving soon anyway.
From now on—just sit back and enjoy the show!
