Chapter 35 - Chapter 35 — Human Potential Is Infinite

After moving, they had enough space.

Master Roshi's real training began.

Chi-Chi, Goku, and Krillin lined up.

Roshi said, "Goku learned kung fu from Son Gohan.

Krillin trained eight years at Shaolin.

Chi-Chi learned a little from the Ox-King.

You all have basics.

So let me see your strength."

They nodded.

Roshi measured distance.

"From this rock to that tree is exactly 100 meters.

Let's see how fast you can run it.

Speed alone doesn't make a great martial artist, but it proves strong legs and body.

Who goes first?"

Krillin stepped up.

"I'll go first—watch my lightning legs!"

Roshi grinned. "Good. Krillin first. Ready!"

"Set!"

"Go!"

Krillin launched, little legs blurring, dust flying.

When he reached the tree—

"Click."

Roshi stopped the watch.

"Excellent. 10.4 seconds. Very impressive."

Chi-Chi praised him for the first time.

"Wow, Krillin, you're fast!"

Krillin smirked.

"Well, 10.4 isn't even my best—my best is 10 flat.

This terrain slows me down… heh heh."

Chi-Chi gaped. "That's… that fast? Krillin, you're amazing!"

Krillin scratched his head smugly. "Heh, thanks.

If you're interested, I can teach you how to run faster later…"

Roshi looked at Chi-Chi.

"Second: Chi-Chi!"

She stepped onto the line.

"Set!"

"Go!"

Her short legs pumped hard, dust rising too.

She finished quickly.

"Click."

Roshi nodded. "11.5 seconds. Better than I expected. Good job."

Chi-Chi beamed. "Thank you, Master!"

Krillin added, "A girl running 11.5 is really impressive."

"Next: Goku."

Goku stood at the line.

"Set!"

"—Click!"

He was already at the tree like a shadow.

Roshi stared at his watch.

"7.5 seconds!"

Chi-Chi ran over, eyes sparkling with hearts.

"Goku! You're so fast! 7.5 seconds!!!"

Goku smiled. "It's nothing. I trained hard since I was little.

Chi-Chi, don't freak out so much."

"Okay…"

Krillin was gobsmacked.

"7.5?! How did you get that strong?"

Goku didn't hide it. "Grandpa taught me. I train with weights all the time."

Chi-Chi and Krillin gave him thumbs-up. "Amazing!"

Then Roshi said,

"You're fast, but remember—there's always someone stronger."

He handed the stopwatch to Krillin and took off his shell.

"Krillin, time me."

"You're running too?!"

"Been a while. Just stretching."

He walked to the line.

"Set!"

"Go!"

Roshi shot forward like a blur.

"Click!"

Krillin stared at the watch in horror.

"W-What?! 5.2 seconds!"

Chi-Chi's eyes lit up like stars.

"Master's so fast! As expected of Master!"

Goku said flatly, "Krillin, you clicked a bit late."

Roshi calmly put his shell back on.

"Sigh. I'm old.

But you're young—maybe you can break five seconds someday."

Chi-Chi asked softly, "Even me?"

Roshi nodded. "Of course. Anything's possible.

Ahem… running makes me thirsty.

Goku, bring me a drink from the kitchen."

Chi-Chi wanted to help Goku, so she sprang up.

"I'll go!"

She dashed inside.

A sharp sneeze sounded—

The next second, Chi-Chi burst out holding the drink, sprinting for her life, while Launch chased her with a kitchen knife.

Everyone was stunned.

They were too fast to follow.

In a flash, they crossed the 100-meter line.

Roshi glanced at the watch.

"Chi-Chi's incredible!

She broke five seconds too—faster than me!"

Krillin gasped. "Seriously? Then I'm the weakest of the three!"

Roshi shook his head.

"Not necessarily.

Chi-Chi was in danger—that forced her potential out.

If you're pushed to the edge, you'll explode with power too.

Believe it—human potential is infinite!"

Krillin scratched his head. "Really?"

"Yes. Look at Chi-Chi."

"Fair enough!"

Goku watched Chi-Chi fleeing, puzzled.

"I didn't think blonde Launch would be that mean to girls too."

Roshi snorted. "Women are only gentle to men they like.

Anyone else? They don't care what gender you are."

Krillin admired him. "Master, you really know a lot."

Goku asked, "Then why do you know so much when you don't even have a wife?"

Roshi's face sank. "Kids don't ask about adult business!"
