The next day, Leo and Victor woke up ready to go do another task. "Good morning victor" Leo said when he saw Victor stepping out of his room.
"Good morning Leo" Victor smiled and responded.
"Do you want to go do another task today?" Leo asked.
"Yeah, let's go" Victor said.
Leo and Victor made their way to the guild building, they passed the bakery from before then the park and finally arrived at the guild. The first thing they did was check the notice board.
A quest peaked their interest, it was a C level Task "Rescue some E level Hunter's from a C level cave they accidentally stumbled into -Reward: 500 coins (Bring back Demonic Beast corpse for extra coins)
To accept please pull the notice paper off the board and hand it to a receptionist."
Leo pulled off the notice paper and went to one of the receptionists, he handed her the paper. "I want to accept this Task" Leo said.
The receptionist handed him a compass. "This compass will point towards the cave, be careful the cave has low level demonic beasts" She informed.
Leo thanked her and told Victor about the compass then they ventured out.
The cave was outside the city near the jungle, they followed the direction of the arrow on the compass until they stood outside the entrance of the cave.
The entrance was rocky yet it was covered with moss from the outside, the green colour blended well with the grey background the rock acted as. They could barely see anything in the cave, it was pitch black. Thankfully Victor had a lamp in his inventory, this lamp was enchanted and could levitate near the user without the need to hold it.
Victor and Leo walked forward cautiously while the lamp illuminated a small distance infront of them, they would need to be quiet so the demonic beasts wouldn't hear them and they would be able to ambush them.
Infront of them was a chamber glowing with a faint green colour, it was giving ominous vibes so they put their guard up.
They were flabbergasted, infront of them were the lions they were supposed to rescue. Thankfully they were alive, on the other hand they were covered in some sort of spider web.
Leo looked up and saw what was producing the light, it was a luminescent spider with ruby eyes hanging from the ceiling using a web. The spider was massive, it was 10 meters tall, each one of its eight legs was atleast 5 meters. It's fangs were the same size as Leo, it could probably kill him in one bite.
"Carefu,l this spider is strong, they must have made a mistake ranking the cave, this would be atleast an A level cave." Leo said.
"F*ck" Victor replied.
Quake
The spider dropped from its web causing the ground to shake as if there was an earthquake, rocks fell from the ceiling almost hitting Leo.
"New quest from Ultimate System, Defeat the spider, Reward: 1340 XP(X2), 300 coins(X2), 4 extra points in every skill." The Ultimate System spoke in his head.
Without saying anything, both of them started running in different directions around the spider, it focused on Victor since he seemed to be stronger .
Leo climbed the wall behind the spider then jumped onto its back, he ran on it towards its head intending to hit it from above. As soon as he reached the head he slammed down on it using both of his claws.
Ting
His claws were deflected with a plethora of sparks from the impact around them, The spider's shell was as hard as metal, maybe it was actually metal. As soon as he hit it the spider started shaking to fling him off.
Leo was shot into a wall, if he didn't put points into defense before he would be dead now. 'How am I going to defeat it if I can't even scratch it' Leo thought.
He started staring at it then he realised something important, the joints and places that needed to move weren't covered by the shell. If he could get on top of it again he could claw at one of these vulnerable spots, like the one around its neck.
He started climbing the wall again, this time the spider saw him and sent one of its pointy legs straight at him, he dodged in the last second and it hit the wall behind him. When the leg was returning to the spider he started climbing again and jumped on the spider.
He ran as fast as he could toward its neck then he sank his claws into its neck, the spider roared , that was weird since spiders didn't roar, it's roar shook the walls of the cave.
The spider tried shaking Leo off but it couldn't because he kept atleast one of his claws in its neck at all times and used the other to dig into its flesh.
The blood gushed out of the gaping hole in the side of its neck, then Leo reached the carotid artery and cut it. Now, no blood could reach the spider's brain and it started getting dizzy then fell onto the dirt cause a cloud of dust to emerge.
"You have gained 770 XP(X2) and 200(X2) coins, you have completed a quest" The Ultimate System informed.
"Victor , We did it" Leo celebrated.
"Yeah we did, I even got 380 XP myself because I helped you but I didn't get the final blow" Victor said.
Leo put the Spider's corpse in his inventory, somehow even big corpses could fit in it, then they both went to rescue the hunters covered in spider webs, there were about 4 and they were all alive.
They brought them back to the guild and got the 500 and split it coin reward. "Do you have any demonic beast corpses to sell?" The receptionist asked.
"Yes but it won't fit inside the building, can I show you it outside" Leo said.
The receptionist raised an eyebrow then followed him outside, Leo pulled out the spider from the inventory.
The receptionist was dumbfounded, this was atleast an A level demonic beast yet a B rank and a C rank beat it. "H-how?..That's going to sell for 2000 coins, I'm going to speak with the guildmaster about this later, I need his approval to make you both A rank since you defeated this beast" She uttered out.
She gave Leo the coins and Leo split it with Victor, this was a very profitable day for both of them, both in terms of XP and coins.
