Night. A one-bedroom apartment on the city's outskirts.
After a full day of training, I barely used my hands anymore.
Telekinesis handled the toothbrush, the faucet, even the bowl I'd pushed away half-finished. Convenience wasn't the issue; Restlessness was.
I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, the same thought looping in my head,
Flying.
I exhaled, swung my legs off the mattress, and crossed to the window, dark energy forcing it open. Cold air rushed in, carrying muted sounds of distant traffic.
I looked down.
'Oh, boy.'
My foot slid out over the window's frame, a step onto empty air. My heart turned to ice; my lungs seized.
"This is nothing. I can do this," I hyped myself, my fingers letting go of the frame.
Eyes shut tight, I pushed myself to another step.
"..." My eyes opened slowly. My heart throbbed as I saw how far I was to the ground, but a smile stretched across my lips.
"It's more thrilling than I thought."
I looked up.
A tiny push of upwards force, barely a breath, was enough to kill fear and turn it into something electric.
Euphoria took hold as I lifted off, my body ascending above the rooftops.
The cold heart and heavy breath seemed to fade the higher I reached. Higher, and higher still. My skin grew cold from the wind, its whoosh a roar in my ears. When I finally stopped to look down, the city was nothing but a grid of dim veins.
I stayed there for a moment, admiring the view.
"...Holy shit. I'm actually flying."
Then, I burst forward at high speed. My arms were open, fingers spread wide, teeth bared in a wild grin—I was embracing the moment.
Rushing toward the part of the city with the most lights, buildings grew, revealing themselves as skyscrapers.
I pushed forwards.
Car honks and city lights blurred, stretching into streaks as I zoomed far above the streets.
I noticed a few heads gazing up. But at this distance, they shouldn't see my face, as I couldn't see their either. Still, I scanned for nearby apartments and quickly spotted some high-end balcony, making a quick stop at one of them.
A rough landing, I would say.
The guy was doing his "business" with a hottie. I just swiftly used telekinesis to steal some clothes from his closet, fashioning a quick mask with the neck hole for eyes.
'Might as well take some money from his wallet while I'm at it.'
I just turn to leave when I heard their shoutes:
"I-I'm gonna cum!"
"Then pull out, quickly!"
A devilish smile crept onto my face.
No one will know.
"Shit! I can't! Something is—Ahh!"
"—What!? You old shit, I said to pull out!"
"I-I don't know what happened," His eyes drifted towards my direction. "Something just—Wait, I swear I shut the balcony..."
I rushed to leave, even tripping briefly.
The wind overwhelmed my laughter.
"Buwahaha!"
...After what looked like flying at random—almost cutting myself on an antenna, smacking headfirst into a billboard, shocking myself on power lines, and being pursued by a bunch of crazy owls—I decided to take a closer look at the famous Hollywood sign.
"...It's crowded."
Tourists. Even heroes were posted there.
"There's no way I can go down there."
'What with this sudden chain of bad luck?' I pushed those thoughts aside, focusing on the sign again.
Hmm, that's right.
I remember Blonde Blazer said something about this, didn't she? That's why she doesn't like going there.
And she's famous.
"It's just a ladder anyway."
...After flying around a bit, I decided to shearch for the billboard she enjoys going. I quickly found one, landing swiftly this time.
"It's similar," I said, turning toward the Hollywood sign. "The view fits perfectly, just as I remember."
I sat there.
Time passed. The night grew quiet.
All I did was plan my next steps. What should I do to get into the SDN? Do I even need to? The others might be manageable, but how could I ever bed Blonde Blazer?
That should be obvious by now, but I'm not much fan of Invisibitch-gal, whatever. But now that I'm here though, why even choose?
"Well," I pushed myself up. "I'm going home."
Before I left, I took one last glance at the spot. A part of me was hoping to see Mandy here. Does she remember me?
BOOM!
The billboard lights blinked as I sonic-boom into the sky.
