Cherreads

Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 Showdown: Horcruxes

Loud cheers echoed through Hogwarts Great Hall, red banners waved in the air, accompanied by bursts of enthusiastic applause.

The atmosphere at the banquet was incredibly high, with students cheering for Gryffindor's victory, and Harry undoubtedly becoming the most dazzling figure of the night.

The table was laden with a variety of delicious dishes. The aroma of pumpkin juice mingled with the smoky scent of roasted meat. Everyone was immersed in the joy of victory, enjoying the food and the fruits of their triumph.

Only Moen, sitting among the crowd, seemed somewhat out of place. His expression was calm and composed, creating a stark contrast with the noisy environment around him.

After taking a few bites of dinner, he noticed that Dumbledore was not there, so he got up and left the bustling banquet hall, heading towards the headmaster's office.

Time was of the essence, and he could not afford to waste any time.

His figure walked through the empty corridor and arrived at the door of the principal's office.

He pushed the door open and went inside.

Dumbledore was waiting for him in his office, his eyes peaceful and wise. When he saw Mohn, a kind smile appeared on his face, radiating a charming glow in the dim light.

Phoenix Fox was preening its feathers on the windowsill, its fiery plumage swaying gently in the evening breeze.

"Morn, I knew you'd come." Dumbledore gestured to the seat in front of him. "Would you like some dessert? Or candy? I have some delicacies from various countries!"

Dumbledore showed no displeasure at Mohn's abrupt behavior, as if he had been waiting for him to arrive.

He waved his wand, and a plate filled with colorful candies appeared on the table.

However, upon closer inspection, the candies are not the normal color; in fact, most of them are black, and their shape resembles swimming black tadpoles, which is somewhat unsettling.

Moen shook his head slightly. "No, I don't like these." There was no emotion in his voice, and his gaze was fixed on a wand lying casually on the desk.

He took a deep breath, suppressed his excitement, and slowly sat down opposite Dumbledore.

"My purpose in coming here is not for the candy, but for the Philosopher's Stone." Moen decided to break through the pretense and lay his cards on the table.

"But before that, I want you to know that I can see more things, and I know many hidden secrets about you and this world." A mysterious smile appeared on his face, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes.

The smile vanished from Dumbledore's face. He pushed up his glasses but didn't speak immediately. His gaze seemed to travel through time, returning to a moment in the past.

After a moment, he turned his gaze back to Moen, his eyes filled with inquiry.

He nodded, signaling Moen to continue.

"I saw the figure parasitizing the back of Rocky's head, and I could feel its twisted and insane power," Moen stated his purpose directly.

"You want me to help Harry, don't you? Or do you want me to be a pawn in this game?" Moen's tone was very calm. He had long seen through Dumbledore's disguise and calculations, so he didn't intend to be polite at this moment.

This time, Dumbledore finally showed a look of surprise on his face. He seemed not to have expected that his secret, which he had kept hidden so well, would be exposed so bluntly.

He sighed softly, but quickly composed himself. "You're very smart, son, but even so, you can't possibly know everything."

"I not only saw Voldemort possess Quirrell, but I can also see into the distant future," Moen continued, slowly clenching his fist. "He created seven Horcruxes that could resurrect him! That's why he's immortal." Moen wanted to see what kind of expression Dumbledore would have when he heard the word "Horcruxes."

Dumbledore's gaze suddenly turned serious, and his expression became extremely earnest.

He took off his glasses, wiped them gently, and then looked at Moen's face again. This time, his eyes were filled with questions, caution, and a hint of surprise.

After a long while, he spoke again in a slightly hoarse voice: "Child, is everything you said true? Are you sure that everything you saw really happened?"

Moen didn't say much, but directly used the power of time. A faint silver light gathered in his hand, and he fixed his gaze on Phoenix Fox, who was resting by the window.

He focused his mind and whispered, "Time stop."

As soon as Moen finished speaking, the air in the room seemed to distort slightly. Time around Fox seemed to freeze at a certain point, its movements were frozen in mid-air, and even the falling feathers seemed to stop in the void.

This control only lasted for about five seconds before Fox immediately returned to normal and continued preening its feathers.

"Perhaps you believe it now?" Moen raised the corners of his mouth slightly, looking at Dumbledore whose eyes had changed, and continued, "The power of time is amazing; it will give me more fragments of the future."

Dumbledore stared at Mohn with a complex look, his eyes seemingly blazing with fire.

"It seems I underestimated you, child." He didn't question anything, but instead accepted the fact that Moen possessed precognitive abilities. "However, it's still too dangerous. I need to confirm some things. Can you see where those Horcruxes are? Can you be sure that Voldemort didn't put any Horcruxes on Rocky as well?" Dumbledore's tone was full of urgency. For the first time, his heart wavered. He wanted to understand more deeply the power that Moen possessed.

Just then, the notification sound of the "Infinite Talent System" rang in Moen's mind again.

[Change the plot and trigger a high-difficulty mission: Defeat Quirrell personally and prevent Voldemort's resurrection. Reward: 1 Blue Copy Attempt.]

Upon hearing the notification tone, a smile appeared on his face; he finally knew how to trigger the system task.

Moen looked at Dumbledore, who seemed lost in thought, without giving a direct response.

"Headmaster, you should know my current strength. I can't see everything yet." Moen decided not to reveal everything at once, but to use it to trigger more system tasks.
