Chapter 349 - The Festival Winds Down

The Festival of Harmonized Realms had lasted five hours—an eternity in some minor realms, yet fleeting in the eyes of the Eternal Empire.

The lanterns that had once danced like tiny dragons now drifted lazily to the ground, their flames dimming to a gentle glow. Proto-energy streams in the sky slowly retracted, forming soft auroras that reflected the calm of the empire. Even the dragons, who had been racing and performing stunts across layered skies, circled back to their perches, scales glinting under twin suns.

Kael Veyris sat atop his throne for the first time in days. The soft golden-black light of the palace filtered through the fractal windows. Around him, his wives and daughter gathered.

Virelya, the Eldritch Chaos Sovereign, stretched her arms, letting chaos flames flicker lightly—no longer wild, just playful.

Lyriana smiled, tucking away strands of void bloom energy that had been left floating in the streets.

Aurelia adjusted the residual proto-law that had governed the festival's harmony.

Aelira hovered nearby, still glowing faintly from the exhilaration of her first public display of power.

Kael exhaled slowly.

Five hours, he murmured. All of it… calm. Harmonious. A rare thing.

Virelya nudged him teasingly.

You're actually… smiling.

Kael allowed a faint smirk.

"It's not about smiles. It's about seeing life unfold without the constant weight of battle pressing down. Even an Architect deserves a quiet moment.

The minor gods and citizens who had been allowed close to the festival began to leave, quietly discussing their favorite moments. No one dared look directly at Kael–yet none felt fear today. Instead, there was admiration, respect, and… something unfamiliar: warmth.

The dragons, sensing the festival's close, performed one final display. They spiraled together in a formation that mirrored the Empire itself—layers upon layers of reality, stable, intricate, yet effortless. Their wings stirred a gentle breeze across the palace gardens.

Kael stood, brushing dust from his robes.

It's over, he said softly, more to himself than anyone else. And it was… perfect.

Aelira flew up, her tiny fists clenched in excitement.

Father Can we make next year even bigger.

Kael chuckled.

We'll see. But for now… enjoy the calm. Let the Empire breathe.

He leaned back against his throne, letting the soft glow of the palace lights warm him. For the first time in eons, Kael Veyris allowed himself to simply exist—without battle, without narrative pressure, without the universe demanding more.

And as the last lanterns extinguished and the auroras faded, the Eternal Empire hummed in quiet harmony, a gentle reminder that even the Architect of Existence could find peace.
