For countless ages.
The Empire had known peace.
Not because there were no threats.
But because Kael Veyris existed.
The Architect.
The Origin.
The one who stood beyond narratives, frameworks, realities, dimensions, laws, fate, life, death, time, space, concepts, stories, and countless other structures.
Yet on this particular day.
Kael was doing something unexpected.
He was walking.
Not across realities.
Not beyond existence.
Not through cosmic realms.
Just walking through the capital city of his Empire.
The city was beautiful.
Golden streets.
Living trees.
Floating gardens.
Children playing.
Merchants laughing.
Families enjoying the day.
Kael walked quietly through the crowd.
Most people recognized him immediately.
But unlike other rulers.
The citizens weren't afraid.
A small child ran up first.
"Hi, Lord Kael!"
Kael smiled.
"Hello."
The child immediately ran away happily.
Nearby, an old baker waved.
"Good morning, Architect."
"Morning."
A merchant bowed respectfully.
"May your day be peaceful."
Kael nodded.
"You as well."
Far above.
From a floating palace overlooking the city.
His wives watched.
And talked.
A lot.
Ignisia folded her arms.
"He could literally be doing anything."
"Anything."
Genesisra nodded.
"Yet he chooses this."
Nyx smiled softly.
"He enjoys it."
Lilith laughed.
"He always has."
Morrigan leaned against a pillar.
"To be fair, after transcending everything, what else is there to do?"
Marigold immediately answered.
"Gardening."
Everyone laughed.
"True."
Aetheria watched Kael below.
"Do you think the people understand who he truly is?"
"No."
Genesisra answered.
"And that's probably for the best."
Cosmyra nodded.
"If they fully understood what he transcends..."
"...they would probably panic."
Eternya laughed.
"Or faint."
Nearby.
Umbryssia, the Void Black Dragon Empress, looked toward the city.
"The strange thing is..."
Everyone looked toward her.
"He never acts like the most powerful being."
Nyx smiled.
"Because he doesn't care about being the most powerful."
Seraphina nodded.
"Most rulers seek authority."
"Most gods seek worship."
"Most cosmic beings seek acknowledgment."
Lilith smiled.
"Kael seeks tea."
Everyone laughed again.
Meanwhile.
Far below.
Kael had somehow ended up helping a merchant move boxes.
The wives stared.
Ignisia blinked.
"Is he carrying furniture?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
Genesisra smiled.
"Because someone asked."
Kitsune Reina laughed.
"That might be the most Kael thing I've ever seen."
Ayakari nodded.
"Agreed."
Tsukiyora smiled.
"He could rewrite all existence."
"Yet he's helping someone move furniture."
The conversation continued.
Elysia looked toward the horizon.
"Do you ever wonder why he created all of us?"
Silence followed.
For a moment.
No one answered.
Then Genesisra smiled.
"I asked him once."
Everyone immediately looked at her.
"You did?"
Genesisra nodded.
"What did he say?"
Genesisra laughed softly.
"He said..."
She paused.
Everyone waited.
"'Because existence felt empty without people to share it with.'"
Silence followed.
A warm silence.
Even Ignisia smiled.
"Yeah."
"That sounds like him."
Suddenly.
The Emperor of the Capital arrived.
Not because Kael demanded it.
But because he wanted to greet him.
The Emperor bowed respectfully.
"My Lord."
Kael looked up.
"Hello."
The Emperor smiled.
"The people are happy to see you."
Kael looked around.
Children were laughing.
Citizens were smiling.
Families were enjoying their lives.
The Empire was thriving.
"Good."
That was all Kael said.
Good.
Yet the Emperor understood.
Because that was all Kael had ever wanted.
Back at the palace.
The wives continued watching.
Eldara.
Verdelia.
Ashvattha.
Aeon.
Virelya.
Luxryth Solaris Zeraphiel Ashenback.
Anemone.
Akra.
Kaelithra.
Veylscara.
Yunara.
Elowen.
Abyssia.
Oblivira.
Infinitra.
Nullara.
Ignivar.
Valthera.
Lycanthra.
Korynthia.
Eldritch Chaos Sovereign.
Sanguinara Dracoryx.
Noctyra.
Valis.
Nxy.
And many more.
All watched together.
Finally.
Ashvattha spoke.
"Do you know what's funny?"
"What?"
Asked Morrigan.
Ashvattha smiled.
"The being beyond everything..."
"The one who transcends all narratives..."
"The one beyond realities..."
"The one beyond existence itself..."
Everyone listened.
Ashvattha pointed toward the city.
Where Kael was currently helping an old woman carry groceries.
"...is doing that."
The entire palace erupted into laughter.
Far below.
Kael looked upward.
He already knew they were watching.
He smiled.
Just slightly.
The city remained peaceful.
The Empire remained strong.
And for the Architect of Existence.
There was nowhere he'd rather be.
