For most empires.
A day where nothing happened would be boring.
For Kael Veyris's Empire.
It was a blessing.
The morning sun illuminated the capital.
Golden rays reflected from crystal towers.
The World Trees swayed peacefully.
Birds sang.
Markets opened.
Children laughed.
And most importantly.
Nothing was trying to conquer existence.
Kael sat upon a balcony overlooking the city.
A cup of tea rested beside him.
For several minutes.
He simply watched.
Below.
The Empire was alive.
Not with war.
Not with fear.
But with life.
A baker opened his shop.
A knight greeted passing citizens.
A merchant prepared goods for sale.
Children chased each other through the streets.
Kael smiled.
Behind him.
A familiar voice spoke.
"You are staring again."
Ignisia.
Kael didn't look away from the city.
"Maybe."
Ignisia sat beside him.
"You've been watching the city for an hour."
"It's peaceful."
Ignisia followed his gaze.
The streets below were full of life.
"Yeah."
She admitted.
"It is."
A portal suddenly opened nearby.
Wukong walked through.
Carrying enough food for twenty people.
Nobody questioned it.
They had stopped questioning Wukong years ago.
Wukong sat down.
"Good news."
Ignisia looked suspicious.
"Why are you smiling?"
Wukong pointed toward the city.
"No invaders."
"Good."
"No cosmic horrors."
"Also good."
"No reality-ending threats."
"Very good."
Wukong grinned.
"I'm officially bored."
Kael laughed.
"Congratulations."
Moments later.
Nxy arrived.
Followed by Lilith.
The four joined Kael on the balcony.
For a while.
Nobody spoke.
They simply enjoyed the view.
Finally.
Lilith smiled.
"You know."
"What?"
Asked Kael.
"For someone who can create infinite narratives."
"And?"
"You spend a surprising amount of time doing absolutely nothing."
Wukong immediately nodded.
"She's right."
Ignisia pointed at Kael.
"You literally created an infinite library."
"Yes."
"You created infinite frameworks."
"Yes."
"You created infinite cosmologies."
"Yes."
"You created books containing beings beyond dimensions, reality, life, death, and countless concepts."
"Correct."
Lilith folded her arms.
"And now you're sitting here watching a baker."
Kael looked toward the city.
The baker was waving at customers.
Smiling.
Laughing.
Living his life.
Kael smiled.
"It's interesting."
The others stared.
"Interesting?"
Kael nodded.
"I've seen infinite narratives."
"I've seen infinite frameworks."
"I've seen infinite realities."
"I've seen stories containing beings beyond countless concepts."
The balcony became quiet.
Kael continued.
"But seeing people happy never gets old."
Silence followed.
A comfortable silence.
Even Wukong stopped joking for a moment.
Then.
A knight below noticed the group on the balcony.
The knight immediately saluted.
Kael returned the gesture.
The knight nearly fell over from excitement.
Wukong laughed.
"You just made his entire year."
"Probably."
The knight ran off to tell everyone.
Within minutes.
Half the city knew.
"Lord Kael waved at me!"
"No way!"
"Really!"
The stories spread rapidly.
Ignisia shook her head.
"You realize they treat that like a legendary event."
Kael blinked.
"I waved."
"Exactly."
Lilith laughed.
"That's the point."
Far below.
Life continued.
The baker baked.
The merchant traded.
The knights protected.
The children played.
And above them all.
The Architect watched.
Not because he had to.
Not because he was guarding reality.
Not because he was rewriting narratives.
Simply because he cared.
The day passed peacefully.
No battles.
No invasions.
No collapsing dimensions.
No cosmic entities claiming to transcend everything.
Just friends.
Family.
And an Empire enjoying another day of peace.
For Kael Veyris.
The Origin of Everything.
The Architect of Existence.
The being who viewed infinite narratives, frameworks, realities, systems, and cosmologies as stories upon endless shelves.
It was one of his favorite kinds of days.
A day where nothing happened.
And everyone was happy.
