The so-called skinny cat stretched his tiny arms and opened his mouth wide the moment Calen tossed a slice of meat toward him.
He even glanced at Roxanna for a second, but there was no anger or fear. Honestly, the cat just looked tired of life, like his soul left his body long ago and only came back whenever someone put meat near his nose.
He looked so adorable that Roxanna couldn't stop herself from wanting to pet him. But just as her hand was about to touch Lilo's head, Skiv instantly pulled the cat away.
"Stay away from us, you monster!" Skiv hugged the cat tightly, slowly backing away like she was some kind of danger.
Well, of course not everyone could accept her apology as easily as her husbands and Carla did. After all, the evil Roxanna had hurt one of Skiv's precious family members, so it made sense he was acting this way.
"I will never let you touch my cat again!" Skiv finally walked away fast. "It would be better if you canceled the oath my parents made and let me leave this damn place!"
He stomped his feet on the ground and ran off like a mouse being chased by a cat. Roxanna looked so sad while watching him that Cyrus said, "Let me talk to him."
"Wait, no!" Roxanna grabbed his hand before he could chase after Skiv. "Let him be alone for a while."
[He'll probably hate me forever,] she thought. [Well… since I'm going to die tomorrow anyway, I'll leave Skiv and Lilo to stay in my hut.]
But if she was being honest, the hut the evil Roxanna lived in was… a disaster.
She realized that the Vixeria Tribe wasn't actually primitive. They didn't live in caves or huts made from leaves. No, the houses here were sturdy. They built them using red wood, something from the redomia tree, which was very strong and wouldn't rot even if it got wet.
However, that wasn't the problem Roxanna wanted to complain about.
The problem was… the hut was FILLED with trash.
She wasn't even joking when she said this.
There were so many fruit peels and leftovers of raw meat scattered all over the floor. Huge flies, the size of corn kernels, buzzed everywhere, swarming over the mess.
[What the hell… this is so gross!] Roxanna screamed in her head. [How did this fox even survive in a place this nasty?!]
Her clothes always looked clean and neat, so no one would ever guess her home looked worse than a garbage dump.
The hut stood on wooden stilts, and even the space under it was piled with rotting trash.
"Ugh…" Roxanna quickly turned away, gagging as her stomach lurched.
[Good thing I'll die tomorrow. At least I won't have to live in this mess anymore.] Roxanna thought to herself. [Tonight I'll probably sleep outside… or maybe I just won't sleep at all.]
After all, her lifespan was so short, only about thirty hours left.
[Host, the system will warn you one more time.] The system's voice suddenly echoed in her head.
[If you don't mate with one of your husbands, you will die tomorrow.]
Roxanna only shrugged. [Yeah, I'm already prepared to die.]
DING! DING! DING!
The system suddenly blared nonstop. The loud ringing made Roxanna's head throb, almost like the system was trying to split her skull open.
[Warning! Warning! If the Host refuses to complete the main mission, the system will find another way to extend the Host's lifespan.]
Roxanna frowned, confused. Why was the system so desperate to keep her alive? It wasn't like the system understood human feelings or cared about someone dying.
Was it because the system felt like it didn't have enough control over her?
After all, beings like that always acted high and mighty, so when a Host refused to do what they demanded, they usually threw a tantrum like spoiled children.
[New Route Detected!]
[Processing…]
[Calculating possibilities to extend Host's lifespan…]
Roxanna blinked several times, confused. [What now? Are you planning to throw another husband at me?]
The system ignored her comment. Instead, another line appeared.
[Route Found!]
[Side Mission Activated: Make the people in Vixeria Tribe cry because of you!]
[Reward: +48 hours lifespan]
"…What?"
Roxanna stared blankly. [How am I supposed to make everyone in this tribe cry?!]
[I'm not going to whip people until they cry just for 48 extra hours!]
Her beast husbands instantly straightened their backs the moment they heard her thoughts.
Each one of them had actually planned several ways to bring Roxanna to a secluded place where they could finally mate with her in peace, without the other husbands or anyone else noticing.
But now she suddenly had a different task? Now she didn't need to mate with them anymore to extend her lifespan?
Calen and Luan exchanged a silent look. Those two were always like fire and water, but when it came to wicked ideas… somehow they shared the same brain cell.
At this very moment, both of them were already thinking of ways to make the tribe cry.
Maybe they could tell everyone that someone had died, but who? Or they could force the tribe members to do something horribly difficult, like cleaning all the rotten trash piled in Roxanna's house.
Or chase them around the settlement until they burst into tears.
Wait…
Why did they suddenly sound like the evil Roxanna? Had they lived with that wicked woman for too long that they were starting to think like her?!
On the other side, Roxanna kept repeating the same thing inside her head. [I don't want to make anyone cry because of me! Why won't you just let me die?!]
Oh… Then they probably needed to do something less wicked to make people cry.
BANG!
Roxanna, who had been crouching on the ground, immediately stood up straight when she heard something big slam against the wooden gate in front of the settlement.
A moment later, loud screams followed. "BEARS! FIVE DEMON BEARS!"
"AAAAA!!! HELP! MY LEGS! THEY ATE MY LEGS!"
Whose legs was that?!
