Kane's POV
We used the fog as cover to escape before they could find us. We camped at the foot of the mountain as they searched everywhere for us.
The horses won't be detected as long they remained quiet.
"Why are we hiding? We can take them," Valerie snarled as we watched their guards patrol.
I was still monitoring — everything felt off. They had found a dead guard, yet they were searching all night without shifters.
"I don't want to test that out," I whispered as we moved even lower to avoid detection.
I turned to the mountain, and an idea struck me. They wouldn't dare go up there because of the myth that had been going around.
"We go up there," I muttered.
"What?!" She snapped in a low tone. We stood up after the soldiers sweeping the area had passed.
"Are you crazy? No one knows what's up that mountain, and I am not hiding like some scared cat."
