The heat in the tower increased so much that even Rose was sweating. Outside of the tower, a fight was going on that was beyond her imagination.
They were on floor ninety with Keres and Kaina and a few other people that she didn't know that were capable of fighting.
They were the last defense; any other person on the last floor had no fighting capabilities.
Two people entered their arena. Marin told them that this was Ray's training ground; it was designed with diamonds all over it, and barely anything could cause any damage to them.
"Keres! I have counted days to meet you again." One of them took off his mask; he had no hair and no nose. Something had made cuts all over his face; he looked more like a monster compared to a human.
Keres stepped in front of the group. "Return to the upper floors."
Rose yelled, "What do you mean? We want to help too!"
Her voice changed to the shadows all around them: "You will only be in my way; that man is a Leviathan."
Rose knew about the ranking of one's strength in military terms; the first rank was soldiers, then the Remnants would come. They were stronger but not strong enough to stay alive on Mars.
The next group was called Demons; they excelled in all fields, and with a good squad, their chances of survival were great.
The next two categories had long passed the boundaries of a human; Leviathan could destroy a whole city on earth, and at last Immortals were capable of destroying planets if they wanted.
Rose had tested before her awakening; she was a little off from being a demon, but now she had found herself between the fight of two Leviathans.
Kaine pointed at others: "Let's go; we will just be in her way."
Rose cursed her own lack of strength to decide her own fate; the matter at hand was her own life and her family's life, but all she could do was to watch from the sidelines as others decided about her life.
She clenched her fists and followed Kaine toward the stairs.
On the other side of the arena, the two men were discussing their plans too: "Vladimir, you must escape too. Your mother and I can escape under any circumstances, but your life is in danger. Go grab others and return to the base."
Vladimir was unhappy with the current situation. Who would have thought that Kurosawa's heir was such a deadly fighter? And on top of that, half of the Sun Squad was present.
He didn't waste a breath and returned; the invasion was reaching a point that they barely could participate anymore. "The heir of the Kurosawa family should be dead by now."
Before he could depart from the arena, the ground shook violently, and in the middle of the arena, it collapsed completely.
The snake girl, scared for her life, ran toward Vladimir.
Her hunter came out seconds afterwards; Ray was in bad shape, his clothes were torn apart from all sides, with cuts and bite marks of snakes on his skin.
He checked the room with a weird look and moved to Keres; his body was already on the verge of collapsing.
"I did my part; now it's your turn."
Keres answered with her usual tone: "Not bad."
Ray fell into her hands; his consciousness faded away in her arms.
She transferred his body into a corner and covered his whole body with her shadows.
"Where is Mr. Diamond?" Vladimir was shocked; how had he survived both of them!
The girl fell on the ground; her lungs were searching for any air that they could find. "That bastard... Huhhh... That bastard's swords are sniper rifles too; he shot through to his eyes. His head exploded on my body..." Her eyes became teary.
Vladmir hugged her and turned toward his companion: "Mr. Nine, we should retreat. I know you looked forward to this day, but we are a burden for now."
Mr. Nine nodded; if anything happened to Vladimir, he, as the group leader, had to face the consequences.
"Keres, we shall see each other again."
Keres only stood there, observing their conversation. She too preferred to not engage in battle; the damage to the tower was going to be immense.
Outside of the tower, in the air, two dragons clashed together; their flames couldn't affect each other, but it was so hot around them the air itself was melting.
Yelena saw a super jet flying toward the tower. "They succeeded!" She returned to her human form, sending an orb of black fire toward the jet.
A white dragon moved to protect the jet; its claws tore apart the fire orb. What followed was Yelena herself with her claymore in hand.
She went for the head, but the dragon was faster than her; instead, she got her right wing. Falling on her wings, she dashed on her wing with her claymore on her skin to cause as much injury as she could.
While she was busy with the white dragon, the jet had taken away their men and fled from sight. Soon the white dragon returned to her human form too and disappeared into thin air.
Yelena was furious; she dismissed her ring, and the sun above her head went out.
"I just hope that Ray is safe."
A memory from the past flashed in her mind: an eighth-year kid staring at her with his blue eyes, empty of any emotion.
"I have to talk to him..."
