CHAPTER 49 — The Threat That Dragged Him Back
Roulan stayed on the floor long after Qin Yuhan slammed the door behind him.
Her cheek throbbed.
Her pride bled.
Her perfect, pampered world had shattered.
But her rage?
It didn't shatter at all.
It ignited.
Slowly—trembling, hateful—she pushed herself up, supporting her weight against the couch.
The Shi family was collapsing.
Her reputation was gone.
The Qin family wanted nothing to do with them.
But Roulan had one last card.
One… filthy, desperate card.
She wiped her tears and grabbed her phone.
Her fingers shook as she opened the hidden folder she had kept for a long, long time.
Screenshots.
Recordings.
A signed document.
And one damning video.
Every piece was collected quietly over the years while she pretended to be an obedient fiancée.
And in the center of it—
Qin Yuhan.
Drunk.
At a private party.
With a girl he had paid off afterward.
The Qin family didn't know.
His parents didn't know.
No one knew except Roulan.
A cruel smile spread across her bruised lips.
"You can slap me… call me disgusting… break up with me…"
Her voice trembled, but her eyes turned sharp and venomous.
"But you don't get to walk away without bleeding."
She hit call.
The line rang once.
Twice.
Qin Yuhan finally answered, voice cold.
"What do you want?"
Roulan inhaled shakily.
"I want the Shi Corporation stabilized. I want you to help us—just this once."
He scoffed.
"You're insane if you think I'll lift a finger for your family again—"
Roulan tapped the first video.
It began playing loudly.
A curse slipped from his mouth.
"Roulan," he growled, voice dropping, "don't do something you'll regret."
Her laugh was hoarse and hysterical.
"I already regret everything! You think I care anymore? You think I won't post this? You think your precious Qin family will survive a scandal like this?"
Yuhan's breath went silent.
She could almost feel the moment the realization hit him.
Then—
His tone dropped.
Low.
Threatening.
But defeated.
"What do you want."
Roulan exhaled with shaky triumph.
"Help the Shi Corporation. Save it from crashing. Make the media stop tearing us apart."
Her voice cracked.
"And just this once, stand on my side."
Silence.
Then a long, excruciating sigh.
"Fine."
Roulan jolted.
"I'll help the Shi family for the last time," Qin Yuhan said slowly, bitterly, "but after that—we are done, Roulan. Forever. I want nothing to do with you again."
Tears fell silently down her cheeks.
She forced a smile.
"As long as you help… anything else can come later."
He hung up without another word.
Roulan stared at the dark screen, her hands trembling.
She won.
But it felt like losing everything at the same time.
