CHAPTER 102 — Qin Yuhan Runs Out of Roads

Chaos had a taste.

Bitter. Metallic. Heavy.

Qin Yuhan tasted all of it as he sprinted through the back corridors of the Shi Corporation's headquarters — or what was left of it. What used to be polished marble floors and spotless walls were now littered with shredded documents, fallen picture frames, police tape, and abandoned laptops left open in panic.

Behind him, the sound of footsteps echoed — officers, reporters, and furious creditors all swarming the building like vultures scenting blood.

He ran.

He didn't look back.

He couldn't.

Because behind him was his past — and ahead of him was the last sliver of a future he was desperate to salvage.

His phone buzzed violently in his hand.

He didn't check it. He knew the messages by heart.

— Frozen assets.

— Court summons.

— Arrest warrant pending.

— Shi Corporation officially suspended.

— Roulan confessed everything.

His heart slammed against his ribs.

Roulan.

That traitorous lunatic.

She had dragged him into a fire he didn't start, but he had poured the fuel willingly. Her arrest had cracked the Shi family's wall of lies, and the whole fortress was crumbling.

"Qin Yuhan!" a voice shouted from down the hall.

"STOP RUNNING!"

He stumbled, breath ragged.

No.

He wouldn't let them catch him. He refused to be humiliated like this. He was a Shi son-in-law. A respected executive. A man of status.

He deserved better than handcuffs and headlines calling him a criminal.

He made a sharp turn into the emergency stairwell and slammed the door behind him.

The wind from the open rooftop door above hit his face.

Good.

The helicopter should be here any minute.

He climbed the stairs two at a time, gasping, clutching the railing as he fought the dizziness clouding his vision.

One more flight.

One more.

Finally —

He burst through the rooftop door.

Rain slapped his face instantly, the storm beating down like punishment.

But there — in the middle of the roof — stood a black helicopter.

His lungs filled with relief so potent his knees nearly buckled.

He sprinted toward it.

"START THE ENGINE!" he screamed at the pilot inside. "HURRY!"

The pilot didn't move.

Yuhan froze.

"…What are you doing?! I said start the damn engine!"

The pilot finally turned his head.

And Yuhan's blood turned to ice.

It wasn't his pilot.

It wasn't even a Shi Corporation employee.

It was a man in a black tactical vest with the police insignia stamped across the front.

"Qin Yuhan," the man said, opening the helicopter door with slow, deliberate calm, "you are under arrest."

"No — no, no, NO!" Yuhan choked out. "This wasn't the plan! I arranged a pick-up — I—"

"You arranged nothing," the officer said. "And the man you paid to help you flee? He turned himself in an hour ago. Gave us your entire escape route."

Yuhan staggered backward.

The sound of the rooftop stairwell door slamming open made him whirl around.

Police surged in.

There was nowhere left to run.

"No," Yuhan whispered. "No… no… NO!"

He backed up until his foot hit the edge of the roof.

Wind howled viciously around him.

Rain pounded the concrete.

His soaked suit clung to his shaking body.

"I'm not going to prison," he rasped. "Do you hear me? I am not—"

"Step away from the ledge," the officer warned. "Do NOT make this worse."

Yuhan laughed — wild, broken.

"Worse? WORSE? The whole world is destroying me because of HER!"

The officers exchanged glances.

"Shi Yunxi," Yuhan spat, voice warping with rage. "That woman ruined everything! She took my wife's place, she stole attention, she—"

"She exposed your crimes," an officer interrupted flatly.

Yuhan's face twisted.

"I didn't DO anything!"

"You knowingly protected Roulan's blackmail schemes. You falsified financial reports. You helped cover up the Shi family's illegal offshore accounts—"

"LIES! ALL LIES!"

"They're Roulan's sworn testimony."

"And Roulan," another officer added, "has no reason to lie anymore."

That burned.

That burned more than the rain in his eyes.

Roulan had turned on all of them — the Shi elders, the board, and him — dragging them down with her like a sinking ship desperate for bodies to hold onto.

"She deserves prison," Yuhan hissed. "Not me. Not ME!"

Another officer stepped forward.

"Qin Yuhan, step away from the edge and put your hands—"

"DON'T TOUCH ME!"

His voice cracked.

He swayed.

The rooftop spun.

Rain streamed down his face, mixing with sweat and something dangerously close to tears.

He had lost everything.

His marriage.

His position.

His reputation.

His money.

His freedom.

And none of it felt real.

He pressed a trembling hand to his forehead, laughing hysterically.

"How… how did it come to this? I had plans. A future. Power. Respect. I was supposed to take over the Shi Corporation. I was supposed to—"

"Yunxi was supposed to be the obedient one," he whispered, broken.

The officers stiffened.

Yuhan's expression twisted into something ugly and hollow.

"That woman should've stayed in her place. She should never have been born into the Shi family—"

"That's enough," the police chief barked. "Hands behind your—"

"I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN CONTROL IF NOT FOR HER!"

In that moment, something in him snapped — a final, dying spark of pride, ego, and delusion.

He lunged toward the edge.

The officers surged forward.

Two tackled him from behind just before he pitched over the building.

He screamed.

Kicked.

Fought like a feral animal.

"No! Let me GO! LET ME GO!"

"Restrain him!"

Handcuffs clicked into place.

His knees hit the ground.

His cries turned into choked, shattered sobs — the wails of a man who finally understood:

His life was over.

The officers dragged him back from the ledge.

Rain washed dirt from his cheeks, revealing nothing but ruin underneath.

Qin Yuhan — once proud, polished, arrogant — was hauled across the rooftop like a criminal, because that was all he was now.

A fallen man.

A disgraced heir-by-marriage.

A symbol of the Shi family's corruption.

As they pushed him toward the stairwell, reporters below caught sight of him.

Cameras flashed like lightning.

"QIN YUHAN! ARE YOU CONNECTED TO ROUlan's CRIMES?!"

"DID YOU HELP COVER UP THE KIDNAPPING?!"

"WHAT IS YOUR ROLE IN THE SHI FAMILY'S FINANCIAL FRAUD?!"

"DID YOU TRY TO ESCAPE THE COUNTRY?!"

Yuhan shrieked back at them, voice hoarse.

"THIS ISN'T MY FAULT! IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF SHI YUNXI! ALL OF IT—SHE DESTROYED US! SHE—"

His words were drowned out by thunder — as if the sky itself refused to hear him.

Dragged away.

Humiliated.

Defeated.

And utterly alone.

Qin Yuhan ran out of roads.

Because every path he once relied on…

Was now paved by the woman he tried to destroy.

And every road ended exactly where he belonged:

On his knees.

In handcuffs.

With the entire world watching.
