When Leo saw the phone screen, he shot upright in fear.
In the photo, a huge hollow space appeared a little below his neck and right in the center of his chest.
If it showed up in the photo, that meant other people would be able to see it too.
Leo shut his eyes helplessly and felt a wave of sadness wash over him.
The dreams he had of showing off his new good looks at the beach had been thrown straight into the trash.
Now he would have to choose every piece of clothing with care.
In the middle of his sadness, Leo imagined something even worse.
He imagined spending a wonderful night with the policewoman he had met yesterday, only for her to suddenly scream, jump away from him, and point at him in terror.
When Leo looked down, he would still see the system, but in the policewoman's eyes there would be a giant hollow in his chest.
A hollow so large that when she looked through it, she would be able to see the wall behind Leo.
With that thought, Leo opened the notes app on his phone and added two new memos.
Plan A - just in case, he must always keep bandages wrapped around his chest.
Plan B - get a tattoo with "4" written over his heart. That way, even if the hollow in his chest was exposed, he could defend himself by claiming to be an over-the-top fan of Ulquiorra Cifer. He could at least close the topic temporarily.
Feeling proud of himself, Leo closed the notes section of his phone and waited for the energy feedback from the lucky event, when suddenly a loud crashing noise came from the lower floor of his house.
Leo instantly created a scenario in his head.
While searching the room for something he could use as a weapon, he imagined the red thread rising from the intruder's head downstairs.
After a long search, none of the items in the room were suitable for use as a weapon.
Just as Leo was about to go downstairs empty handed, his eyes fell on the 5 liter water jug he had placed beside his desk.
"Better than nothing."
A few seconds later, Leo was quietly descending the stairs with a nearly full 5 liter water jug in his hand.
Because the intruder hadn't bothered to be quiet, small noises continued coming from the kitchen, making it easy for Leo to locate him.
When Leo poked his head past the doorway and peeked inside, he saw that all the food on top of the kitchen cabinet had fallen to the floor, and at the center of the mess sat a white kitten.
Since Leo thought very differently from an ordinary person, the moment he saw the kitten, his first thought was that the intruder was using it as a distraction. But before he could pull his head back, he saw something that made his eyes widen in shock.
The white kitten, unaware of Leo, continued eating food from the floor as a huge column of golden light rose from its head toward the sky.
Leo instinctively understood that it was good luck energy.
But this was the first time Leo had seen such a flashy display of good fortune.
Leo looked at what the kitten was eating.
A torn flour sack had fallen to one side, and in front of the kitten sat a crushed and burst can of fish.
It was easy for Leo to guess that the flour sack had fallen in such a way that it accidentally opened the fish can, but how could something so simple trigger such a massive surge of good luck energy?
Was the kitten on the verge of starving to death?
Even if it was, was that really enough of a reason?
Leo looked at the white kitten, who continued enjoying the fish without caring about the world.
At that moment, the kitten noticed him for the first time and lifted its head, staring at Leo, who stood there holding the jug.
Leo did not seem to feel the cold wind blowing in through the open kitchen window. He only stared blankly at the kitten.
When he noticed that one of the kitten's bead-like eyes was blue and the other was green, his heart skipped for a moment.
Was there truly a creature this adorable on the planet?
But back to the matter at hand.
Could this canned fish be a magical fish that granted special abilities to whoever ate it?
Just as Leo was about to think deeper, an idea struck him. He assumed he did not possess a golden finger.
Let us assume the kitten was about to starve.
Then it saw that the window of this house was open and came inside.
While searching for food, a gust of wind opened a cabinet door, making a ten kilo flour sack and a fish can sitting on top fall down.
The fish can landed in front of the kitten, and the flour sack crushed it open.
At the sound of the noise, Leo woke up and came here, and at first sight he would adopt the kitten.
Even if Leo had not seen the golden pillar rising from the kitten's head, he would have wanted to feed and raise it without hesitation.
Thinking through all of this, Leo assumed that the actual lucky event the kitten experienced was encountering him.
To confirm whether his guess was correct, Leo took out another can of fish from the cabinet, opened it, and slowly approached the kitten, placing the can in front of it.
"From now on, I will be your big brother, and you will get to eat good food every day."
The kitten was a little cautious, but it could not resist the smell of fish and approached Leo.
Just when Leo was about to pet it, the kitten made a cunning move, grabbed the entire can of fish, and stepped a few paces away.
Although Leo was a bit disappointed, he saw the golden light flowing down from the kitten turn into a stream of energy and shoot toward him.
The test tube on the system that collected golden energy consumed half of it and filled up completely.
Normally, when this happened, the excess energy would rise into the sky and disappear.
Leo continued watching, thinking the system would absorb the remaining energy, but the system made no attempt.
Apparently, even the system could not consume luck energies on its own.
At that moment, the system slipped out of Leo's clothes, floated in front of him, and began to hover.
A process Leo was well familiar with began once again.
The system first lost its color and shape, then returned to its original form.
A metallic, constantly shifting, unstable alien technology.
Then the system began consuming the energies in the test tubes all at once.
A few seconds later, the system transformed into a cylinder covered with golden lines and re-entered Leo's chest.
