Mia woke up Tuesday morning with a knot of nervous energy in her stomach.
The coffee date with Grayson was at six. She had the whole day to get through first.
She got ready for work on autopilot, her mind already jumping ahead to the evening. What would she wear? Should she do something different with her hair? Was she overthinking this?
Probably.
The drive to the estate was quiet, the morning traffic lighter than usual. She parked in the staff lot and headed inside, trying to focus on the tasks ahead.
Margaret was already in the kitchen when Mia arrived, prepping for the day.
"Morning, dear," Margaret said warmly. "You look nice today."
Mia glanced down at her uniform. "I look the same as always."
"No, there's something different. You're glowing."
"I'm not glowing."
"You are. What's going on?"
Mia felt heat rise to her cheeks. "Nothing. Just... I have plans tonight."
Margaret's eyes lit up. "Plans? What kind of plans?"
"Just coffee. With a friend."
