Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6

Samurai Hearts – Tutorial (5)

Dohyun hadn't realized it, but there was a reason the remaining enemies hadn't all charged him at once.

Besides him at the front, Seungyeon was still behind, ready to jump in at any time.

As long as she was positioned to intervene, the AI hesitated. But the moment they found the right opportunity, they were always going to swarm him.

And now Dohyun had stepped too far in.

He had presented that opportunity himself.

No AI, no matter how simple, would ignore a perfect chance for a coordinated attack.

"Die—!"

Seungyeon's warning came too late.

She hadn't even finished yelling "Get—!" before the surrounding enemies had already thrust their spears at Dohyun from all directions.

The stabs were the same as before—no special patterns.

But with the number tripled, the situation was completely different.

Spears from three directions at once!

He couldn't simply parry them one by one like earlier.

Forget parrying—his life was in danger.

"Watch out!"

Seungyeon shouted in panic.

Samurai Hearts was not a hack-and-slash power fantasy.

In fact, if three enemies ganged up on you, you were supposed to run.

Even though this ambush was part of the tutorial and the enemies were weakened… facing three at once was still dangerous.

The tutorial goal was to attack, retreat, and eliminate enemies safely.

Seungyeon had chosen to parry for demonstration purposes, but if Dohyun messed up, she was prepared to run immediately.

But she'd been distracted by the Great Success parry he performed earlier.

Because of that, Dohyun was now on the verge of a game-over.

This was clearly her mistake.

Fighting one enemy is nothing like fighting three at once!

—Is Kratos gonna die?—I don't see a parry window. He's dead.—Dead?! DEATH???

Even the viewers believed he was done for.

But at that moment—

Unlike Seungyeon and the viewers…

Dohyun felt no danger at all.

Not even a flicker of panic.

The three spear tips flying at him failed to intimidate him.

Why?

Because they were too slow.

So slow that he couldn't even feel threatened.

Instead, facing the rain of spear tips…

Dohyun was deciding.

Not "How do I survive this?"

But "Which way should I handle this?"

Should I parry these too?

Seungyeon had wanted him to demonstrate the parry again.

He had already shown it once.

Wouldn't it be lame to only parry once?

Dohyun pouted slightly, thinking it over.

Then he decided.

He would parry again.

So he did.

CHAE-CHAE-CHAEENG!!!

A single swing.

A massive arc of motion.

His blade swept in a wide half-circle and struck all three spear tips at once.

Huge sparks erupted—far more than before—and the enemies all screamed as they were flung backward.

"Hmph—!"

With the triple parry completed, Dohyun inhaled.

He stepped forward lightly, twisted his torso, and swung again in a sweeping arc.

Slice—

His blade traced a clean, elegant curve.

And the three fallen enemies all had their throats cut at once.

For a moment, silence.

Then—

Blood erupted simultaneously from all three necks.

The enemies clutched their throats, gagging, stumbling—and collapsed lifelessly.

"…Hoo."

Just two sword motions.

That was all Dohyun needed to kill three enemies.

Exhaling the breath he had held, Dohyun quietly sheathed his sword.

It was a picture-perfect scene.

"…"

Seungyeon stared at him blankly.

Her mouth hung open.

The face of someone witnessing something she absolutely could not believe.

She moved her lips several times but failed to speak a single word.

Instead, the chat exploded—saying everything she couldn't.

—He survived that???—Forget the survival—weren't all three parries Great Successes?!—He parried all three with one swing. That's insane.—And the follow-up slash?? How did he slash all three??—Holy crap holy crap—Physical ability: off the charts

As explained earlier, Samurai Hearts was not a hack-and-slash game.

But what Dohyun had just done was something you'd only see in a hack-and-slash game.

This was, literally, a scene that transcended genres.

The viewers going wild was only natural.

None of them had ever imagined seeing such clean, satisfying swordplay in Samurai Hearts.

Especially not on Victoria's stream—she, the queen of bad physical skill.

"Oh, EyeBleachClip, thank you sooo much for the 10,000 won! I'll use it well! Visual cleansing… yeah, true. That was like a painting."

"FastStanceSwitch, thanks for the 1,000 won! I can't believe it either, but it really happened. Wow… that was amazing."

After the first donation, more poured in relentlessly.

The chat was blazing, and so were the donations.

And of course it made sense.

Even players confident in their physical skills struggled with the Great Success parry.

But Dohyun just landed three of them at once?

And that wasn't all.

Including the first two Great Success parries, he had now succeeded in five Great Successes in a row.

Something no one had ever shown before.

A level of monstrous physical ability that went beyond anything the game—or viewers—had witnessed.

It would have been strange not to see the viewers erupting in excitement.

"What's going on?"

Having returned, Dohyun noticed Seungyeon frantically responding to the avalanche of donations and asked.

Since he barely knew anything about VR games—let alone Samurai Hearts—he had no idea how explosive the impact of his actions had been.

If he had known, he probably would've been surprised.

Though the surprise would've been less "I did something amazing?" and more "People can't even do something this easy?"

"What's going on? A lot is going on! Seriously! You are new to VR games, right?"

"Yeah. I told you."

"Then what was that just now? How did you pull off three Great Success parries in a row? Is there some trick to it?"

The barrage of questions made Dohyun blink in confusion.

He had no idea what she was talking about.

What was so special about what he did?

What was a "Great Success parry"?

And what did she mean by "trick"?

There had been no trick.

Nothing difficult.

She'd said to parry and slash, so he parried and slashed.

For someone who had only touched a VR game for the first time in his life today, all these questions were complete nonsense.

"Ah… so…"

Seungyeon, who had been worked up with excitement, finally noticed Dohyun's blank expression and came to her senses.

Her brother didn't even know what the Great Success parry was.No matter what she asked him, he couldn't give an answer.

If she wanted an explanation, she needed to teach him first.

So Seungyeon quickly summarized the three parry results in Samurai Hearts.

"I did a Great Success…?"

Dohyun listened quietly, then tilted his head.

"That's right."

"And that's supposed to be hard?"

"It's really hard."

Seungyeon's answer was firm.

Even though Dohyun had just pulled off five Great Successes in a row… the difficulty didn't magically become lower.

If she tried, she'd need thousands—maybe tens of thousands—of attempts.

And even if she succeeded, it would probably be due to pure luck, not intention or skill.

That's how difficult the Great Success parry was supposed to be.

"It's hard?"

But Dohyun couldn't agree.

He hadn't been trying to do anything special.

He had simply done what she told him to do.

"I don't really get it. You said to parry and slash, so I parried. That's all."

There wasn't a trace of deception in Dohyun's voice.

He hadn't aimed for a Great Success.

He didn't even know multiple parry results existed.

He just parried. And it happened to be a Great Success.

Because of that, he spoke casually.

And Seungyeon—and the entire chat—were left speechless.

"Uh… well… you're right. I did tell you to parry. So you parried, and it turned out it was a Great Success. I see… I see… hahaha…"

—Ah, of COURSE. How could we not know that!—He just parried, and it was a Great Success~—This is what it feels like to be gaslit by a prodigy??

Seungyeon and the viewers all let out the same hollow laugh.

What they struggled desperately to accomplish… Dohyun had done by accident.

Unbidden, famous "lines of geniuses" flashed through everyone's minds.

"You just do it like this.""Why can't you do it?""Huh? You think this is hard? It's easy though?"

Geniuses do not realize that what comes naturally to them is nearly impossible for others.

Just like Dohyun now, head tilted in confusion.

'IS He god' donated 1,000 won!So is this what people mean when they say"talent monster"?

"IS He god, thank you for the 1,000 won. Ahaha… I didn't think my brother was that kind of monster but… wait. Then what about me? Why am I like this?"

—LOOOL all the talent genes went to the little brother—Victoria's physical stats got completely siphoned off by Kratos—The talent gap between siblings is insane

Dohyun still had no idea what they were talking about.

Without any foundational knowledge, even hearing "it's hard" didn't mean much to him."How hard can it be?"—that was all he thought.

Ironically, that lack of awareness only made Seungyeon and the viewers more fired up.

"An ambush, inside the territory…"

The one who interrupted their comedic exchange was Tatsuki, who had been quietly waiting behind them.

Regardless of how the fight went, all the enemies were dead, and the game judged the event completed—meaning the next scripted scene began.

"And this crest… this is the crest of the Nagamatsu Clan, the neighboring domain."

On the armor of the dead enemies, three overlapping circles were engraved.

Tatsuki examined them closely and murmured in confusion.

"But the Nagamatsu Clan and the Atsuragi Clan are allies. For them to launch such an open attack… surely not?

Red Fox, Black Wolf—let us return to the castle at once!"

After saying his lines, Tatsuki stared at Dohyun and Seungyeon.

To anyone watching, he appeared earnest, urging them to hurry.

But in truth, he was simply frozen—having reached the end of his script and waiting for the player to move.

His sudden interruption allowed Seungyeon and the viewers to finally settle down.

"R-right… let's move on with the story. As for my brother's 'talent,' we'll have a dedicated segment to test that later."

—NEW CONTENT???—Holy crap I'm excited—Family VR stream turning into a legendary storyline LOL the broadcast sense is insane
