Samurai Hearts – Reaction (4)
The global Hypernet broadcast community site, VGC.
This was a huge community used by nearly everyone who watched personal streams, and of course Seungyeon knew about it.
No—she didn't just know it.
After her broadcasts ended, checking posts about her stream on VGC had become her secret little hobby.
She wandered around the site, giving likes to posts praising her, and quietly downvoting posts insulting her.
That didn't change even after the stream blew up thanks to Dohyun's effect.
She went through the countless posts about her one by one, pressing likes and dislikes.
And at the same time, she always did one more thing.
'I should show this to Dohyun.'
That was it—showing her little brother, Dohyun, the posts from the community.
[Sister: Yo][Brother: What?][Sister: Is this post actually true?]
—Victoria at the end of the stream was funny as **** lmaoWatching the brother guy clench his teeth and pretend he didn't see anything had me dying lolol"How do I turn this fool into a functional human being," and after thinking hard, she decides to just cut him off LOLYou could feel him getting pissed the moment Victoria showed that self-harm style swordsmanship kkkkkWasn't that basically a curse that gives cancer to anyone watching?
—Self-harm style swordsmanship LOLLLLL
ㄴ**(OP)**: She saved the stream but probably wanted to beat the crap out of her brother lol ㄴVictoria's definitely a genius streamer. No one expected that twist. ㄴAgreed, double-agreed, easy-agree.
—Brother guy shocked by the unexpected spicy flavor! ㄴHow did he NOT notice the spicy flavor in the tutorial?? ㄴShe acted normal in the tutorial though. Isn't that why he was even more surprised lol
[Brother: ...no comment][Sister: That's already a comment, you little punk!!][Brother: lolololololol]
Warning him that she would smack his back exactly as many times as the number of "lol"s he sent, Seungyeon kept browsing the posts.
The things she mainly sent him were posts praising him—usually like this:
—Today the Sword Saint was Sword-Sainting againBeating the Three Sword Tigers was already greatBut when Gato got turned into mince meat in one second, I couldn't help but gaspIs that really a mid-boss of Chapter 1??Makes me reflect on myself after getting tentacle-tortured and dying 5 times...
—I also died to Gato like 10 times lol—He really deserves to be called the Sword Saint; dude humiliates bosses—When he split seven tentacles in half at once, I lost it ㄴ(OP): That was real clip material for sure
[Sister: Look lol these people are seriously praising you][Brother: He didn't seem like a hard boss though][Sister: That's just YOU. Everyone else is saying your mechanics are insane lol][Brother: Really?]
Praise makes even whales dance.
That was exactly what Seungyeon was aiming for.
Make Dohyun dance like a praised whale so he would grow more interested in streaming.
So that he would take a more active role in it.
Not be passively dragged along by her like now, but actually work with her in sync to create the stream.
'Feels like it's working.'
He pretended otherwise, but she could tell he liked seeing people go crazy over him.
As his older sister, she could see the signs.
If he really hated it, he would have told her firmly to stop sending them.
The fact that he didn't—that he subtly expected reactions about himself—gave it away.
'Just a little more, maybe?'
Seungyeon continued digging through VGC.
Liking posts praising her, disliking the negative ones.
Because she had just finished a stream, VGC was overflowing with posts about her, and she dove into the endless flood of posts…
—Victoria is so freakin' cute lol—What's with the Sword God's cape? Sick as hell—Sword God showing how to beat Gato.avi—Sword Saint: "What the hell, give me my sword back"
Unaware of Seungyeon watching, viewers kept posting about her nonstop.
The eighty thousand viewers that exploded after the broadcast ended had begun to move in earnest.
Even if only half of them posted one thread each, that was forty thousand posts.
Naturally, VGC being instantly flooded was not hard.
—Victoria board's territory % is this real?I was slaving at work today and couldn't watchAnyone explain what happened? Was it as legendary as last time?
—It was legendary ㄴ(OP): Okay WHICH part was legendary, elaborate ㄴEverything was legendary, tf you mean; you're the idiot for missing it ㄴNew event was legendary, creating a sword style was legendary, the spicy flavor was legendary ㄴ(OP): Creating a sword style? Samurai Hearts has that? ㄴIt didn't before ㄴNow it does ㄴ(OP): Damn… now I'm too curious; when does the VOD go up…
People who missed the stream—and people who didn't care much about Victoria—had their attention dragged to her broadcast by the flood of posts.
And once attention gathers, posters naturally get even more excited.
They posted even more, and more stream stories spilled across VGC.
—Summary of today's Victoria stream.txtLots of people asking so here's the main points only
Hidden challenge reward cape looks sick (image attached)
New event: Trial of the Three Sword Tigers
Clearing the trial allows creation of a sword style
Sword Saint became Sword God by making "Sword God Style"
Her spicy flavor is real
End.
—This is like eye-level teacher summaries—I immediately understood, thank you sensei...—So that's what Sword God meant—What do they mean by creating a style though;
When a post like that hit the trending list, interest flared even more.
The biggest question from those who didn't watch was about creating a new sword style.
—You could create a sword style?Heard it appeared in Victoria's streamAnyone know the details?
—Literally means creating a brand-new style that didn't exist before ㄴ(OP): That's possible? ㄴIt happened so clearly it is; use your brain dude—There are tons of posts explaining it but you want to know without searching huh?
Samurai Hearts is hot content.
Meaning: many people play it, and just as many watch it streamed.
Because it's a new game without all its secrets discovered yet.
Even the devs said that there are far more undiscovered endings left.
Naturally, streamers and gamers are hyped trying to uncover them.
And in the middle of that, news broke that you could create a brand-new sword style.
Not choosing one of the existing ones, but crafting your own unique school.
What could be more tantalizing?
—How do you create a sword style?—How do you get Sword God Style?
Once people heard it was possible—and someone had already done it—the next natural question was:
How?
Under what conditions?
—Speculation on sword style creation requirements (headcanon)Only thing Sword God did differently from others was the tutorialAnd what he achieved there:
Beating the Tutorial Sword Saint
Hidden challenge: Twenty-Man Slash
I don't think you need both, probably just one.Chances are #1 is the key.
—You headcanon dumbass ㄴ(OP): I said headcanon lol ㄴGetting us hyped over headcanon, unbelievable lol ㄴSo did YOU clear it yet?
—Bro lmao beat the tutorial Sword Saint?? No way I'm doing that—These unlock requirements are insane lol—Besides Sword God, who can even do that?
Guessing the sword style creation conditions wasn't all that hard.
Dohyun and Seungyeon had only streamed Samurai Hearts twice, and among those, the only one where any conditions could be confirmed was the first stream.
The problem was the difficulty of the confirmed requirement.
—Do you seriously think this makes sense? They made a big event like creating a sword styleachievable by literally one superhuman??Is the dev team begging to get their heads smashed in?
—So normal gamers shouldn't even dream of it; ㄴ(OP): Even Sword God barely pulled it off; it's borderline impossible ㄴSo basically they're telling us "don't bother" lol ㄴWhy the hell make something like this? Want to watch a human victory story??
Of course people were upset.
The Tutorial Sword Saint was known as an undefeated monster until the day Dohyun killed him.
Even surviving for a while was considered a testament to your physical skill—yet now the requirement was to beat that monster?
How was that any different from saying "don't even try"?
It was practically mocking the players.
But soon, a streamer went live—someone whose involvement would flip all their assumptions upside down.
The streamer: Khan.
A pro-gamer of the VR game Psychic Wars, with a massive fanbase: average 50,000 viewers, peak 150,000 viewers. One of the top-tier corporate streamers on the platform, easily top 5.
And he suddenly went live.
"Hello, everyone. I'm starting the stream rather abruptly today."
—Khanha!—Why are you streaming early?—Is the world ending tomorrow?—The sun's rising in the west tomorrow huh
Khan usually announced his stream times beforehand and stuck to the schedule.Today was different.
The reason was soon revealed.
"I turned it on early because of that big commotion on VGC. Yeah—you all know. The sword-style creation thing."
—Knew it lol—Dude ran here—Solemn—As expected of the platform's top physical ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Top physical of Tricky. That was Khan's nickname.
Although the title had faded a bit thanks to Dohyun bursting onto the scene, that didn't mean Khan's physical abilities were any less insane.
He was the first person to endure the longest against Sword Saint Kato—and the first to hear Kato say, "Truly magnificent, warrior!"
Naturally, someone like him would stream about the newly discovered sword-style creation system.
"The conditions for creating a sword style are ridiculous. I was shocked too. Why would the devs make the unlock requirement literally impossible?"
—fr—fr—true—Dev team has noodles for brains—I wanna make a sword style toooooo
"But then I realized something. No matter how foolish the devs might be, would they really set an event requirement that no one could meet? Why make an elaborate event if literally no one could unlock it?"
Viewers buzzed.
He wasn't wrong.
No dev team would put in effort to make an event that cannot be triggered.
They already suffer making normal features—why add a useless one?
"My guess is that sword-style creation is a New Game+ feature. Everyone missed it because Kratos—that is, Dohyun—just speedran everything in his first playthrough."
—Is NG+ different from first run?—But you still can't beat Sword Saint in NG+, right?—True; no one's beaten him so far—If that worked, this wouldn't be blowing up
"I also think the idea that you must defeat the Sword Saint is wrong. That rumor only started because Kratos actually did beat him. But there's something else."
Khan grinned.
As Tricky's top physical, the moment he began theorizing about sword-style creation, his viewer count started exploding.
People starving for information flocked to his stream.
"It's all about Niten Ichiryu. Sword Saint first showed Niten Ichiryu only when fighting Kratos. I think sword-style creation depends on seeing that technique."
Defeating the Sword Saint vs. surviving long enough to witness Niten Ichiryu—
The latter was far easier.
In NG+, your stats are higher, you already know some sword arts.Enduring until he uses Niten Ichiryu was a difficulty level any decent player could manage.
And if you still couldn't…
"Well, time to prove it, right?"
Khan didn't bother saying more.
Everything was speculation until he demonstrated it himself.
And as someone once known as the top physical player on the platform, he absolutely had the skill.
He booted up his NG+ save and didn't take long to test his theory.
"I, Hatsuragi Kato, successor of Niten Ichiryu… shall now cut you down in earnest."
The moment Sword Saint, holding two swords, said this line, Khan clenched his fist.
"Okay! First try successful! Now I'll just die immediately!"
He intentionally lost after witnessing Niten Ichiryu.
Then he proceeded with the dialogue with Tengu, and when he reached the clearing—
"Hmhm. I spoke too soon. You stood toe-to-toe with that monstrous Sword Saint. Even they are interested in you. Go speak with them."
—Damn, so seeing Niten Ichiryu really was the only requirement—NG+ makes surviving doable—We got jebaited by Sword God lmao
The pre-event dialogue for the Trial of the Three Sword Tigers appeared, and viewers exploded.
Although slightly different from what Dohyun saw, it was fundamentally the same.
Khan calmly explained:
"No one fought Sword Saint seriously in NG+. And I knew losing wouldn't matter, so I just let him kill me. This is a pretty sneaky trick."
—We got hard-betrayed—Top IQ of the platform holy—Thanks, heading in-game right now—If NG+ wrecks me, I just give up, right?
"I won't continue the story. I didn't discover this myself, and starting the event on my stream would feel shameless. I already have another ongoing series anyway."
He closed Samurai Hearts.
He had only wanted to prove the sword-style creation conditions—and he had.
That was the decisiveness befitting a mega-corporate streamer who didn't chase viewer numbers.
"Anyway, Kratos is seriously amazing. Doing this in a first playthrough? That's no longer platform-top physical. That's world-top physical. I acknowledge it."
—Never seen Khan praise someone's physical skill before—He's right, dude's world-top—True
Leaving behind that single praise, Khan switched to his usual stream.
After sword-style creation was confirmed via Khan, the info spread at lightning speed through the community.
As expected, Seungyeon, who watched VGC like a hawk, found out instantly.
But what she focused on was that Khan directly mentioned Dohyun.
'Holy crap, seriously…!'
Unlike her sudden breakout popularity, Khan was one of the TOP 5 streamers on Tricky. For him to mention Dohyun directly carried far more impact than anything DumDum or Kang Yeonwoo could do.
Khan had international viewers too.
Her face flushed with excitement. She rushed to Dohyun's room and slammed the door open.
"Dohyun! Big news!"
"…Damn, you scared me. What now."
"Khan praised you on stream! He called you world-top physical! WORLD-TOP! The best physical skill in the world!"
Dohyun blinked.
"Khan? Who's that? A soccer player?"
"…Right. You don't watch streams."
Seungyeon sighed.
Since Dohyun didn't know anything about streaming, he had no idea how enormous this was.
It was sad that this overwhelming joy was something she had to feel alone…
