Chapter 2 - Making drugs (healing potions)!

[Perks "Falna" Acquired.]

{Falna}: You have been blessed with a god's "grace", thus allowing you to manifest supernatural abilities and reinforce yourself with your future myths.

Future "myths"? Mythology? The word chosen to describe the excelia did make me raise an eyebrow, but i guess it made sense.

After all, to gain status and skills you need excelia.

Battle experience, training, failed and overcomed challenges! All of that is recorded in a person's falna.

In simpler words, excelia is a story of an adventures journey toward their goal. And myths are stories.

'status?' I thought, not wanting to risk Miach or Naaza who were in the room to hear me whisper the command.

Thankfully, it worked.

[STR:10]

[DEF:10]

[END:17]

[SPD:10]

[DEX:10]

[INT:10]

[WIS:10]

[Skills]:

[Perks]: {Falna}.

All system stats are a 10. Classic.

Well, except endurance, but that's because I gained a couple points while limping through Orario with a stab wound on my thigh.

Hm...I'm doing push-ups as soon as I have time, to grind the STR stat. Then go for a run to grind both SPD and END stats, and maybe attempt some amateur parkour to grind DEX?

I'll go to the library and read a fuck load of books for the INT and WIS.

How do I raise DEF tho? Let someone whack me with a stick over and over?

Meh, I'll figure it out later.

No HP tho? Well, I don't have 'Gamers Body' so maybe that's why? So that also means that I can't shrug off lethal attacks like a stab to the heart and simply loose a couple of health points instead of dying... Well, you can't have everything, I guess.

"So, is it done?" I ask once I feel the texture of a paper page touch my back, a faint azure light flashing briefly as my falna status gets copied over to it via Miach.

No response was given. And when I turned around I saw Miach holding the page with my falna, a blank look on his face. No...not blank, more like...stunned?

Even Naaza was a little worried as she looked at him, poking his shoulder and letting a quiet "Lord Miach?" whith a frown on her face.

"Alright, let's see what shocked you so much." I shrug, grabbing the paper from him and reading it.

Strength: I 0

Endurance: I 0

Dexterity: I 0

Agility: I 0

Magic: I 0

Development abilities: [Mixer (I)], [Enchantment (I)].

Skills:

Spells:

All falna stats are at 0, huh? I half expected for the stats from my system to bleed over into the falna. Would level it up faster if it did, but I'm not necessarily disappointed that this isn't the case.

No skills and spells, but it seems like I have development abilities related to the classes from my gamer system. So I guess some things can bleed through between both systems? ...I'll probably learn more about it in the future.

"Told you I have abilities that make alchemy and magic item creation possible." I shrug again. "Just didn't know they'll be development abilities." Something in the casual tone in my voice must've irritated Misch as he let out a sigh and rubbed his temples.

"Huh!?!?!?!!!!!!" Naaza said calmly.

Next thing I know, the page with my status is ripped from my hand before I can react.

From my perspective, I felt the briefiest thug on my grip, and It just...disppeared from my hand. No blur of motion, no gust of wind, nothing that I could react to. Naaza was so fast that I couldn't even properly process her speed!

She's level 3 if I remember correctly... Is there this much of a gap with just 2 levels? I mean, I knew that there was a certain gap between each falna level, but...holy shit.

Theoretically if she wanted to kill me, I wouldn't even know how or when she did it!

"This is... impossible?" Naaza questions unsurely, and turns hesitantly to Miach.

"Yes. It is." Miach sighed again. I'm probably going to get that reaction a lot out of him from now on. "Development abilities aren't something you can just...have without leveling up."

OBJECTION!

"Can't you get a development ability through gaining a skill thats similar enough to it?" I remember something like this being the case. Finn obtaining the development ability [Spearman] and Ottar obtaining [Spirit Power] through skills, instead of chosing them from level ups.

Mich frowned and Naaza looked confused.

"I don't know how you learned about this, but ...yes, I stand corrected. It is possible to gain a weaker version of a development ability if an adventurer gains a skill or spell similar enough to its effects." So I was right! Good, that means I still remember some things from the manga and wiki. "But you have neither any skill, or spell, so that doesn't explain how you could possibly already have TWO on your falna!"

"I'm built different." I tell him as serious as I could, while looking straight into his eyes.

...

Mich responded with a blank look.

"Well, we don't have to worry about that for now." Our resident dog-girl began, grabbing our attention. Both me and Micah turning our gaze to her. "We don't have to share Ozias's status with the guild until he decides to enter the dungeon. And if I'm remembering correctly-" She turned to look at me "-you said that whatever it is that caused you to have two development abilities from the start, also allows you to gain skills related to them?"

I nod.

I did indeed say that. Having a system means I'll get skills from doing basically anything, but skills related to the class I currently have? I'll get twice as much of those, at minimum!

"Good! Then that means you'll just have to help us brew potions until you gain a skill that can explain your [Mixer] ability!" Naaza said- no. Hummed sweetly with a soft smile.

It was a mask.

This gall wants to chain me to a alchemy station and create potions so she could laze around behind the counter all day!

"Dad, my sister wants to use my body to make more money." I said, turning to Miach.

"DAD!?" Mich choked.

"Sister...?" Naaza raised an eyebrow.

Well, the gods refer to their adventurers as their children, so why not embrace it and call Micah my dad? The previous owner of this body was a street rat orphan anyway. And since Naaza is also his 'child' that also means she is my sister! Simple.

[You have gained the title: {Son Of Miach.}!]

...

Why is Miach crying?

--- --- ---

After a...VERY long hug, and a bunch of crying from Miach. I was fortunately saved by Naaza as she convinced/ripped me off from his clutches, before being dragged to the back off the store while she put him on cashier duty.

Apparently Gods get excited when one of their adventurers actually acknowledges them as their parent.

Or maybe that's just Miach, but I doubt it.

"So, what this about me being your sister?" Naaza asks as she brings a crate full of ingredients to the brewing station in the back, and places it beside it.

"Well, I'm an orphan, gods refer to their adventurers as their children, and the whole process of gaining falna can be considered something of a divine adoption." Gods literally put a drop of their ichor on your back and soul, and in my eyes that's just a mystical way of sharing their bloodline with mortals. "And since we've been both divinely adopted by the same God, that means you're my big sis!" I finish with a smile.

"I- uh-" Naaza stuttered as she frowned. Probably deciding if my logic had any sense to it. "I see." She said simply, face going back to her usual sleepy expression as she began taking out some ingredients from the crate and putting them on the alchemy station.

And maybe I'm imagining things, but there was a certain aura of... contentment around her after that.

So, naturally, I decided to ruin it.

"Which also makes you a filthy degenerate for having the hots for our dad."

Naaza choked on her spit.

--- --- ---

[Alchemist class has leveled up!]

[Through repeating an action multiple times, you gained the skill {Brewing}!]

{Brewing}: Any attempt at creating a liquid drug through alchemy is now much easier.

I raised an eyebrow. It took me making 10 potions for my first skill to show up.

Which doesn't sound like a lot, but considering that each low-tier healing potion that Naaza assigned me to make took 15 to 20 minutes to cook... Yeah, I've been here for around 2,5 or 3 hours.

Doing the same thing over, and over again. Repeating the same written instructions that my degenerate sister left me with before she stormed out of the room.

It was a tedious work, but an easy one.

If I had to be honest, it was the same as fallowing the recipe for a meal. If you listen to the recipe for tomato sauce, you'll succeed at making tomato sauce.

"Alright, let's see the results I'll get from the next potion." I murmur as I pour the finished red liquid into a vial and place it beside the rest of my work.

10 vials of healing potions made!

Only 40 more to go...

I glance at the alchemy table, the one I got from the system when I chose the [Alchemy] as my second class.

It was the alchemy table from Skyrim.

I wanted to use it, SO BAD, but...I'm kinda scared I'll mess up? My [Alchemy] class provided me with the knowledge on how to use it, basically grinding each ingredient into various states of paste/powder, put them all into the same bottle together with water, and then heat it up by placing the bottle in the middle of that glowing green dent in the middle of the table.

It's much faster than the alchemy station that Miach owned, where you had to prepare each ingredient by cutting off certain parts of it. Add certain ingredients before or after other ones. Cooking certain ingredients while letting other soak in oil for 5 minutes, etc.

The Skyrim alchemy table just...skips all of those things.

My guess is that it probably has to do with the glowing thing in the middle where you cook the potion after you dumb all the ingredients inside the container.

But would the ingredients and recipes from this world work on the Skyrim's alchemy table? The maximum amount of ingredients you could use for a potion in that game was 4, and the recipe for a low-tier healing potion that Naaza gave me required 6.

...

No, I'll experiment around with it in my spare time. I got a job to do, and I want to do it right.

"Huh, this is easier now." I comment as my hand movements feel much smoother. Grabbing, chopping, and slicing the ingredients while moving around the alchemy station with a certain grace I lacked before gaining the skill.

"Ozzy~!" I froze, stopping my diligent work of crushing marigold petals (that are a BITCH to pluck off even with my new skill), and swallow nervously.

Fuck it, I did it, I must own up to it.

"Hey, dad! What's up?"

Micah sniffed, and wiped an actual tear from his eye, lips trembling. It was a blink or you miss it reaction, as he quickly composed himself and walked up to me with a casual smile.

And just as he was about to speak again, his eyes zeroed in on the alchemy table I got from my system.

I half-heartedly continued to work, allowing {brewing} to pull up my slack for the eleventh potion, letting the skill guide me as I watched Miach.

The god of healing, medicine, and surgery was... transfixed on the alchemy table. Locked in a one-sided staring competition with the it long enough for me to finish another vial of healing potion.

And just as I was about to say something, Miach moved.

Puting his index finger into the center of the alchemy table, right into those weird green embers, and holding it in them long enough for his skin to sizzle.

Naturally, I was weirded out.

But I was even more weirded out, flabbergasted even, when Miach took out his now burned finger from the alchemy table, and directly into his mouth!

Not going to lie, I squirmed uncomfortably as I watched him scrape a bit of his burned skin, and straight up gagged when he used his tongue to taste it.

Ew.

Just ew.

But Miach? He didn't acknowledge any of my reactions. Instead, he reached into the crate of ingredients that Naaza placed the alchemy station, and began to work. Whatever reason he came here forgotten as he focused entirely on crushing his all 6 into various states of powder and paste.

And I just...watched.

My own assignment forgotten as I watched the God of medicine use an alchemy table he hasn't ever seen before like a pro without any explanation on what he is supposed to do for it to work. How did he know that this alchemy table is used only by grinding the ingredients with a mortar and pestle? I knew that because the [Alchemist] class supplied me with that knowledge...but Miach?

I can only guess that it's his domain that allows him to do that.

The whole process took...maybe 5 minutes, if not less? MUCH faster than what I've been doing.

And the result? A neon red liquid.

A health potion.

"...where did you get this?" Micah asks after inspecting the potion he made.

"I conjured it into this reality by reaching and grabbing it from a extra-dimensional pocket space." I anwser truthfully, and laught in delight at the confusion written on his face when his lie detection ability confirms my words as truth.
