Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

(Third Person POV)

Artem was suddenly pushed to the ground, having been swarmed by the walking corpses. He was pinned down hard as they dug into his body, attempting to rip him apart.

"Damn." Artem said, surprised by their speed, "They're fast..."

The wights were swinging their hands at him, ripping his body apart as some of them began to bite them. Artem felt no pain, simply the sensation of pieces of his body being pulled away. He tried to move, trying to get away from them but he was completely overwhelmed.

The wights ripped his arm off, their loud shrieks filled the cold air as they continued their onslaught. In the distance, the White Walker simply watched in silence, looking at Artem being completely ripped apart.

Artem closed his eyes, "Hm..." He said as the remaining pieces of his body were completely white, emitting the cold steam of ice, "Futile."

The wights' limbs were suddenly frozen stiff, the pieces of Artem's body dropped to the ground and began to slowly return to him, slowly forming him back into one piece. The wights tried moving, but some of them got their limbs shattered, as they were frozen completely to the little bone they had.

Artem reached for one, clutching his head, "It is as if my body can tell that this is danger." he said aloud, the wight's head freezing completely, "And thus, the powers of the cold are activating. You will not be able to harm me."

He squeezed his hand, the frozen skull shattering and the wight simply collapsed to the ground. As the wights decided to swarm him again, adamant about ripping him apart, Artem simply closed his eyes.

Then, around ten meters around him, a wave of ice was released. It froze everything that was in that area, the ground and snow along with the Wights. The corpses were stopped, their bodies encased in pure ice as it fused to their bones.

Artem slowly stood up, some of the ice that connected to his body was snapping off. He looked over to the remaining group of wights and then at the White Walker, which was staring at him with emotionless eyes.

He then raised his hand towards his face, his breath visible as it was pure white, "An Other." He said, "You dare bring your cold against me?"

The Wights rushed past the frozen area, and Artem punched the ice, shattering completely and destroying the Wights. In the process, the remaining corpses tripped over the ice pieces. Artem reached for the nearest one, activating his powers and covering it in pure ice.

He then lifted it up from the ground, flinging it at the others. The frozen corpse shattered, stumbling the others. Artem stepped forward and was suddenly tackled by a Wight, his entire body shattered into ice as he fell to the ground, freezing the Wight.

"Tch...." Artem said as he slowly reformed right next to the Wight, "This is getting obnoxious. I don't think they'll end."

As he said that, more and more Wights began to appear, slowly walking towards him. He got to his feet and patted his shirt down, looking right at the White Walker that was staring at him. The Wights then rushed him and Artem extended his hands outwards.

"There's no other choice." He said, "I don't know if this would work."

"Ice Age"

In a split second, an area much larger than the first one was covered in a flash freeze, the snow and dirt completely frozen as the Wights were stopped in their tracks. Their rotted bodies had turned completely white.

The right side of Artem's face was slowly covering itself in white ice, the cold steam emitting from it as Artem looked over at the Walker, which was just out of the range of his technique.

Artem was panting, the attack was able to stop all of the corpses but it did take a bit of effort from his part, leaving him a bit out of breath. He wasn't so sure if it were work in the first place; he simply visualized what he knew about the ability. To release a freezing cold around him, in an instant, to freeze anything within it.

"Tch...." Artem said as he glared at the Walker, "I meant to get you too."

The White Walker took a step forward, its mouth slightly opening and releasing a growl that was akin to ice shattering. It walked past the frozen corpses and even thrust its spear through one, shattering it.

It reached Artem and swung its spear at his head, cutting through the top and shattering it with ice.

The Walker then turned around and began to walk away when he heard the ice pieces slowly return to Artem's body, his body reforming as he stood there behind the Walker.

The Walker turned to look at him, its emotionless eyes stared at him. Artem saw that there was a slight shift in his eyes, one that was unbecoming of a creature like the White Walker.

"Surprised?" Artem said with a smirk, "You didn't think your weapon wouldn't kill me in a single hit?"

The Walker opened its mouth, releasing a loud shriek that reverberated throughout the air, piercing through Artem's ears. The mere sound of it was enough to strike fear in any ordinary man.

But Artem was no ordinary man.

Artem stomped his foot in front of him, releasing a wave of ice that hit the White Walker, encasing its entire body. All but its head, which was jutting out halfway from the ice wall that had been formed in a matter of seconds.

Artem had his hand on the spiky ice wall, a slight smirk on his face, "So...." he said, "You're not that strong. Can you break out of this?"

The Walker let out another growl, trying to move its head, but to no avail. Artem walked forward, making his way to the Walker and reached it. Through the ice, Artem saw that it was still holding its spear.

Then, the ice cracked, which took Artem by surprise.

"Oh." He said, "You can."

The Walker let out another growl, which unsettled Artem.

Artem then swiftly punched the Walker in the head, shattering the ice momentarily before more ice appeared, expanding outwards and forming large ice crystals.

Artem then stepped back, seeing that the Walker was motionless now, "Tch." He said, "That was something."

"Terrifying fuckers."
