Chapter 2 - Restrained

He zoomed across buildings at fifty miles per hours. Many people below say the glimpse of a person zooming by and pointed it out, some even calling the N.E.P.S. Some people thought it was a Thanatos or some other Ethereal. The boy kept running and running until finally, after about an hour. He made it. Finding a white haired girl on the ground with a bleeding neck unconscious. He was thankful for his efforts. As he lifted her up into his arms and walked slowly back. For a moment the girl opened her eyes, they were brown and beautiful like a trees. "What's your name, Miss." the boy asked calmly with a huff as he slowly limped his way across the road. The girl slowly blinked, exhausted from her bleeding injury but still spoke back in a soft tone. "Anby. W-what's yours?" She asked hesitantly as he blinked again slowly, trying to get a good look at the boys face. "I don't really remember my name all that well, but you can call me Rentaro Fen." Rentaro said with a wide smile on his face. "I don't want to keep my other name. So I'll just use this name for the time being." Rentaro thought mildly with a straight face as he tried to look around for help before this girl died in his arms.

After some time of searching he wasn't able to find anyone so he decided to find a place to rest his now bursted muscles which was hurting like hell was living inside them. He was able to find a suitable alleyway nearby and down into it. Laying the resting and bandaged up Anby on the floor as he pulled up the hem of the pants and wrapped up his lower legs and shins along with his feet. He would need to rest those for a while.

"Hmm. This sucks. I was hoping I could just find her then send her off with another person after getting some type of reward. Seems not though. Oh well. At least I saved her." Rentaro thought glancing down at the sleeping girl with a sheepish expression of guilt for trying to use her like a piggy bank. He glanced away solemnly feeling a bit hungry, but he happily saw a convenient store right across the street. So he stood up, stumbling slightly as he made he way towards the store. Upon entering it Rentaro was amazed by the amount of snacks and drinks inside. He then started to excitedly search around for anything good, even asking the owner for any recommendations. After about five minutes of goofing around Rentaro was able to get some snacks and drinks, but suddenly two people entered the building. A women with pink hair and a armored metal man with bright yellow eyes. "Boss come on, cheer up a little! Your buddy o'l pal Starlight knight will buy us some snacks!" The armored knight exclaimed with laughter. Strange. Rentaro thought. How could a piece of metal talk? Well it wasn't his problem anyway. As Rentaro pulled up his bag of money, payed for his stuff and walked out the door he realized something. Why not just send Anby off with these people, it would take a load off his shoulders that's for sure. But it made Rentaro feel bad for not saying goodbye. Rentaro stood above Anby's sleeping body, her breathing calm and soft like a cat's fur. He lifted her carefully. Then moving sneakily across the street, opened the car door to pink haired woman's car and laying Anby inside. "Goodbye for now, Anby. Let us meet again someday." Rentaro said with a smile use smile. And with that he closed the door and ran off before instantly seeing the Pink haired girl and the armored golem step out and enter the car. Rentaro waved his hand goodbye as he watched the car drive off in a different direction, before he himself turned away and walked off.

It was night and moon was up bu the time Rentaro could reach his spot. He was able to reach the same beach he sat at before leaving to go save Anby. But something bothered him. Why was his body so weak? Or so young? How old was he? He suddenly tried checking by using the dark energy within him and got answer. "I'm between 16 and 19 years of age. That makes sense. The nature order of this world doesn't have other worldly laws like my own, so for my body to accommodate my power it's needs to be stronger and more refined. More muscles and a better balance in the core and physique." Rentaro deduced calmly with a frown as he felt the energy in his body very hard to circulate around. "And because this world doesn't have supernatural powers like energy the order of this world is trying to restrain it and confine it." Rentaro mentally frowned, angry at the thought of not being able to use his energy. He had kept up his superhuman abilities but yet his Devourer technique and dark magic were being restrained. Rentaro decided that it time to find some place relatively safe to live in. Some place safe and worth staying. But first he needed to know where he was. Standing up slowly despite being injured and bruised he continued his way towards an apartment complex. It looked like a wooden inn to Rentaro. As he entered the place, hoping to see a land lord of sorts, through a narrow door he found himself staring at man sitting on a chair next to a sigh. "Sir? Are you awake?" Rentaro asked kindly, striding over to the man and staring down at him. The man, wearing a lousy ripped up hat, dirty shirt and shorts with sandals, lifted his head up to look at Rentaro. "Huh? Oh? Have you come to lease for an apartment? That will be 600,000 Dennies per month. Either up front in coins or card. Your pick." The man huffed out as he drank from a bottle full or wine. The man's exhale of joy from the taste making Rentaro curious. Without hesitation or even a think about the laws within New Eridu. Rentaro grabbed a wine bottle, popped it open and took a long swig. The man gasped and tried to stop the ignorant boy from drink such liquid but it was too late and just watched the young teen drink the full wine bottle in a whopping 10 seconds. Temporarily stunned by witnessing such an event the man shook himself and yanked the bottle away from the boy. "Are you crazy! You could be arrested for illegal drinking! And that was my last one! So you'll at least have to pay for it!" The man shouted at Rentaro angrily. Grabbing the boy by the collar and bring him close, letting his spit spread onto the teens face. "Relax, mister. I'll pay for it. Just calm down." Rentaro said calmly as he wiped his face. The wine was a strong and sweet taste. It was his type of wine, however it had little to no effect on him. If only it was alcohol. "Calm down! You're asking me to calm down after drinking my hard earned wine without paying me first or asking! Calm down!" The man roared loudly, causing his mistress or wife so to speak to come out from her home. "Shaun Yun, what on earth is the matter?" She exclaimed, glancing at both Rentaro and her husband, Shaun. Rentaro looked at the women and bowed politely. "My apologies madam. I have seen to offend your husband after drink a bottle of his wine. I do offer my deepest apologies to you and your husband." Rentaro had now gotten onto his knees and pressed his head onto the ground in proof that he didn't mean to cause such confusion or malice. The mistress stared at the boy, who to her point of view looked frail and starving. Motherly instincts kicked in and she knelt down to help the young teen. "Well, whatever mistake you made. You can easily repay it without violence. Right?" She said giving a sour expression towards her husband. Shaun just huffed and took a small swig before setting it down and storming off into the building his wife just left. His wife sighed, exasperated by the turn of events. She then turned to Rentaro and bow her head too. "I'm sorry for my husband's behavior. He… has been having problems lately." She had this pleading tone of understanding, her gaze drifting up to look at Rentaro. However Rentaro was a little flustered and ushered the Miss lean back up. "Please, Miss! Do not bow before me! I was in the wrong for not asking first. It's just that… I'v been an orphan for so many years and so I'v done lots of things without asking. Please forgive me." Rentaro gritted his teeth as he knew he had just lied to this kind woman right in front of her face. But to think about it logically, how would anyone react if some random kid said. "Oh yea so I just appeared here out of thin air because I came from another world." Like seriously? They might put me in some prison with a bunch of crazy people or just kill me on the spot. He had to make some sort of excuse that made sense.

The mistress stared at the young boy in sadness and disbelief. "Oh my! I'm so sorry. It must have been hard for you. However, it still doesn't change the fact that you did something bad and wrong. In any case. How will you pay for living here?" The kind woman asked with a raised eyebrow. Rentaro thought for a couple moments, deep in his mind. He would do house work or even try to help fix things with magic, but he couldn't tell them that. He's been a servant before, maybe that could work? "I could be your servant? You just wouldn't have to pay me. And I could always help fix's things around the complex to make sure people come here more?" Rentaro offered calmly with no hesitation. His eyes filled with determination. The women furrowed her brows, studying the boy. She didn't want make a young boy a servant, but since he had no place to stay it would seem bad to send him off back into the cruel world. However, their house was a mess and it did need a spring cleaning. But to not pay the boy, well she'll figure something out. "Alright. You'll stay in an apartment on the condition that you clean and fix certain stuff that we tell you too. Got it? I'll write us a contract and you will sign it. You can live here for as long as you need too on that condition of helping us clean and fix." The women said in a serious tone, glaring deep into the boys eyes with a smirk. She'll work this boy dry to the bone. "Understood, Miss. Uhh, wait I never got your name." Rentaro asked with a curious smile as he looked up at her. The women smiled widely with a laugh. "It's QuinnTessa, but you can call me Quinn. Now run along towards your apartment, you need to be ready for the morning." She mused in reply as she tossed him a set of keys. Rentaro caught them in mid air with a swipe of his hand, his face carrying a smile as he nodded while walking off towards his new home.

When he walked up to it, unlocking the door and opening it he found that the room was small, about 100 feet wide and only 90 feet long. It had one small room for a bathroom, a bed, a narrow kitchen with a fridge, a desk with a lamp and a one window. To Rentaro, this was perfect and was the best he could ask for. He was used to small rooms like at wooden Inns where they only had one bed and a desk. Simple, bland, clean and yet oddly satisfying. The floor was wood but was smooth to the touch as Rentaro took off his shoes and socks, placing them neatly on the side of his bed. He then poked the bed and after feeling how soft it was lied flat out on it and giggled to himself. He's never felt anything so soft and comfortable, it was like the bed was letting him fall. His body jolted awake after letting the body relax a little too much. But that gave him an idea. While he used this technique in his other world, would this one allow? First Rentaro tried covering his hand in dark magic just enough to cut bone and flesh, that seemed to work but it would only last for about five minutes. That was the time he needed. He covered his hand in dark magic, a black flaming like aura surrounding his hand, and sliced off his other hand clean off. Blood flowed out like a dam and sprayed everywhere. The pain was mild, but the technique had worked. "Now for the next part." Rentaro thought calmly.

Back on his other planet, magic and blessings were two separate sections. Blessings were mostly used by knights with very few mages getting blessings for magic but they were mostly two different forms. However Rentaro who was better known as "Devourer king" or "King of Chimeras." Had studied ways to make a new path. Some people within his world, like himself and Caspio, were warlocks. Powerful warriors who would could use magic and blessings at the same time while fighting. They would make new and stronger techniques than what the normal mages or swordsman's could. However because of this they died quicker due to injuries and had gone almost extinct. Rentaro, during this time period, then decided to find to a way to prevent such injuries from happening. As a dark mage who specialized in powerful dark spells he also had an arsenal of normal spells as well. He was first to create black fire, ice, lighting and earth. He also had blessings, but only one. However it wasn't a blessing given to him by the gods, but by a saint, his wife. While it was a gods blessings, he never considered it one that he got from hard work. He was just lucky enough to get it. However, he thought that since Blessings were made up of positive qualities while dark magic was negative. Why not try merging them? That's when he created a technique called "Reversal Healing." Unlike normal healing spells that gets rid of any pain and regenerates any injures without the person feeling it. The reversal Healing has the user feel the pain and the regeneration process with the person feeling the process. The pain is excruciating and almost impossible to avoid with some saying, "It's like feeling my bones break while thorns were being stabbed into them along with feeling of being twisted." However for Rentaro, he wouldn't feel pain. When he born his body was never able to feel pain, but in this world. He felt it. The feeling of flesh twisting together, veins forming with bones breaking and form together, the twisting of flesh of something unimaginable. It was hell. He screamed loudly but covered his mouth instantly. He fell to the floor, the edge of his regenerating hand slamming down hard and jolting such immense pain Rentaro almost passed out from it. He gritted his teeth and kept going with the process, making sure that hand kept growing back until it was done. The feeling like acid was poured down on it was like anything he's ever felt in his life. He smiled widely, his mind breaking in two as he laughed at the pain. With was nothing! Nothing to when he transfigured his body to match that bulking armor. After about two minutes, the process was complete. Rentaro was exhausted as he stood up from the floor, stumbling over with blurry and wavy vision towards the bathroom where he turned the lever and let hot water pour out into the tub. His clothes were drenched in sweat and blood, so he took them off slowly. Trying to not pass out or faint, though that proved to be very and extremely difficult. Damn! He would need to keep using that technique until he couldn't feel the pain ever again. Although, it definitely was amusing to feel such intense mortal pain after being alive for nearly half a century. But the knowledge he knew back then is futile now, as he deuced that if he tried to beat any type of test or forms they would be very different then from the ones in his prior life. Then again all he studied for was magic, yea he was definitely what people called a nerd.

As Rentaro oozed his way into the hot water filled tub he could feel his body relax and his mind clearing. The feeling of muscles blowing in the wind, so free and calm. His blood flowing like a dead sea. The sound of his slow heart beat like soft little knocks on a tree. Breathing was easy with an experts meditative approach. His mind started to drift off and dream, but was instantly cut off when flashes of his wife's dead body entered the frame. He sprang awake like a bolt of lightning, face pale with shaking eyes and hands. He looked around the bathroom — nothing out of ordinary. Was it a nightmare? "I guess sleeping for first time in 500 hundred years did me dirty." Rentaro chuckled softly, an expression of nervousness and guilt appearing on his face. He stood up from the now slightly cold tub, stepping out onto a towel and grabbing an extra one to dry himself off. After doing so he wrapped the towel around his waits. Turning around he knelt down unplugged the water stopper letting the tub drain. After a few minutes he wandered out from the bathroom and noticed something laying on the floor in front of his apartment door. "A bag? I wonder what could be inside." Rentaro asked himself as he wandered over to the bag. When he opened it and took out its contents he found they were smooth clothes. A note was inside the bag with Quinn's name on it that had a wink like smile drawn on it. Rentaro smiled softly at the quick drawing and placed the note aside on the floor next to time. He then proceeded to put on the smooth silky black clothes and shivered gently at the coldness. He then slowly made his away over to the bed in the corner of the grey room, climbing into it with soft sigh. He lay there for several minutes. Then after a while of thinking decided he would use his flat rectangle for the first time. Pulling it out and opening it he found that it was easy to get into. It scanned his face and was unlocked almost instantly. He saw a couple of apps, with one saying bank. He clicked on it and it showed how much money he had. His jaw fell open and his eyes were as wide as saucers. "W-what? 100 Million Dennies?!?!" He screamed mentally as his hands shook like he was in Antarctica. He was never this rich before! Never had that much money? Yet this was given to him!? For free! Holy crap!

(Author: wish I had that type money. TwT)

"How did I even get this money!? Luck? God? Divine mercy? What?! This will make me look suspicious." Rentaro thought calmly but with excitement, a hint of fear escaped his throat. "Wait, I can pay for the lease when I'm not needed for working. How ever I can't just be that hidden rich kid that everyone thinks is homeless. I won't be like that crazy Fighter I met on the streets of Kilder near Franquin city. But then again, he did make for a good supplier of parts and he paid well when he stayed at my home. However, the people in this world can track money from what I can tell. It's like the "Radar seal" from the Wu Hao Clan. It can track any person and kill them no matter where they are in the world." He thought mildly with a frown. He thought maybe he would make one within this world after he's able to release some of the restrains the world was trying to place on his body. In fract earlier when he was in the mirror of the bathroom he saw a large circle with flames on one side and lightning on the other that had spread across his enter back. Then there was the orb inside the circle that had a swirling like action. He recognized it as the large rainbow black hole he head butted before coming into this world. "Is it responsible for my restraints? If so then that makes sense, given the fact that this world doesn't have people who can destroy mountains with two punches, use magic, regenerate, has enhanced senses and can transfigure their body in anyway he pleases. "However I'm not gonna underestimate the monsters within this new world. While the technology here is great it's not like the blessed armor or dwarf armor back then. What made Caspio and I almost unkillable. I could probably replicate that armor though or no. The armor would be too difficult, however my sword." Rentaro laughed mentally. "My sword would be the perfect expirement for use." He said aloud inside the dim lit room apartment room.

As he swiped on the box he found many of the apps amusing. Especially the app called "Webnovel." He didn't even need to make an account as he already had one? But what was an account? What was everything around him. However when he clicked on a button on the screen something appeared. "Create a book. Enter title here." The screen showed an image of a large grey smooth box with a smaller black rectangle in the middle. "Oh? So it's like a journal and a note book? Awesome. I guess I'll start typing." Rentaro said calmly as he started writing about his journey from his other life. The typing was hard but he slowly got used to it, albeit it took over thirty minutes just trying to figure out the emojis. After about an hour of writing he was able to purplish his first ever chapter. Rentaro then check the small alarm clock on the desk.

12:30 am.

"Well guess it's time to sleep. I'v got a lot of things to do in the morning." Rentaro said as he put down the phone on the desk. He then turned onto his side and fell instantly asleep.

"Glut? Are you awake?" A soft voice asked calml, albeit it was hard to make out who.

"Mirrdia? Is that you?" Glut asked calmly with a stir, covering his eyes from the blinding light that shine directly in his face. "Yes it's me. You fell asleep on the grass next to the sigil tree." Mirrdia said with a soft yet sweet chuckle. Somehow this felt wrong Rentaro noticed. This never happened. Was he dreaming or was this real? To test this theory he reached up and pinched his cheek. "Ouch! That hurt!" Glut exclaimed, rubbing his sore cheek. Wait. His voice sounded different, he was young again? His body felt off and he looked down. He was in his five year old body. Wearing a long white garment with a leather strap wrapped around his waist. He looked towards the girl sitting next to time. "Is that you, Mirrdia?" Glut asked staring at the girl's face. Before anything else he was instantly snapped into reality.
