Fu City. As the name suggests, this was a city of blessings. The "blessing" of Fu City lay in its mountains and waters. Fu City was a dazzling pearl on the southeastern coast of Dragon Country, known as the City of Livability.
The city was located in a coastal area, surrounded by winding mountains and clear rivers, possessing unique natural landscapes. Given the "eight parts mountain, one part water, one part field" terrain, Fu City's Pokémon species were quite abundant, with Grass-type and Water-type Pokémon being the most numerous.
Therefore, as the provincial capital, Fu City had a breeding farm with strong local characteristics, named Sea and Land Home. Here, people could travel, participate in special activities, and purchase Pokémon. This was a legitimate store.
At the entrance of Sea and Land Home, a long queue formed from early morning. This place was a must-visit attraction. Currently, it was the peak of the summer vacation, and even more people were coming.
Kaito was one of those queuing. He came here mainly to purchase Water-type Pokémon.
Kaito's New Status and Rewards
It was a scorching summer day. The loud chirping of cicadas enhanced the intense summer atmosphere. Even though it wasn't noon yet, the sun was scorching. Most people were sweating profusely. If one were observant, they would notice that Kaito had not sweated at all. He used his Psychic Power to form a barrier on his body's surface, blocking the heat and greatly avoiding the heatwave.
Out of boredom, he took out his phone. This was the first time he had taken out his phone in two days, as he had been in the mountains without internet.
After connecting to the internet, Kaito found a series of messages from Liu Xuan and notifications from the PokéTube App. He learned that his thesis had been rated as a Top-tier Thesis, so the National Research Institute held a meeting and granted him the status of Doctor.
This surprised him a bit. The National Research Institute's official account sent him an invitation. The invitation confirmed that after becoming a Doctor, he could have his own Research Institute (he could choose the location himself) and receive a large annual stipend for experiments. Kaito guessed they considered the farm he inherited, so they specifically mentioned he could conduct experiments there.
After a moment of contemplation, Kaito typed his agreement. Free benefits offered, he wouldn't refuse them. With this identity, he would have more confidence in everything he did, as a top talent protected by the authorities.
The system confirmed: Task Completed: Become a Doctor at the National Research Institute. Task Reward: Title (Person of Research), Designated Legendary Pokémon Clue.
The New Abilities and Clues
Kaito reviewed the rewards:
Person of Research (Title): Research conducted is highly likely to proceed on the right track; experimental success rate is greatly increased; research conducted is highly likely to be convincing to others.
Designated Legendary Pokémon Clue: A one-time use item that allows you to choose a Legendary Pokémon and reveal its whereabouts.
Researcher status unlocked: Research Log unlocked. Records every research endeavor; continuous research success yields rewards. Currently Successful Research: Eevee's New Form: Leafeon. Obtained Leaf Stone.
The title Person of Research sounds similar to the titles in the Pokémon Special manga. Kaito thought. He guessed that if he reached a certain height in a particular field, he could obtain a title like Person of (Something).
Next was the Designated Legendary Pokémon Clue. With this, he could go find a Legendary Pokémon he wanted to see. He'd set this aside for later use.
As Kaito pondered, the queue moved forward, and finally, it was his turn to enter. After going in and buying Pokémon, it would be time to register his information. His disguise would most likely be dropped then.
Kaito is now both an Honorary Master and a National Research Institute Doctor! Which Legendary Pokémon will he choose to track with his new clue, and what Water-type Pokémon will he add to his farm?
