Johnny woke up in a hospital, groggy and disoriented, with no memory of what happened the night before. He looked around trying to gain some consciousness, but he still felt like drifting to sleep, which he did again and again. Then he looked at his arm, which had something in it. It looked like a yellow stone had been embedded in his arm. He tried to scratch it, but he didn't feel anything, and it looked as good as embedded in it. He sighed and decided to watch something on the hospital's TV, which had some pretty good shows, although it was almost limited to nothing.
While he was eating a bag of nachos he found in a cabinet under the sink, like a complete idiot, a nurse walked in and took one good look at him and covered her mouth in shock, trying to take it all in. She falls on the ground trembling, and Johnny looks at her confused as he scurries out of the door, slamming it. Johnny is left there confused about what just happened but then something weirder happens when the sheriff from last night walks in.
With his memories eradicated from last night, he doesn't recognize him, but people around him with black suits and guns tell him this is no joke. "H-Hello? "Are you going to kill me? "Johnny," he said frightfully, backing away, although he was on his bed and had nothing but the walls to back into. They got closer, walking each step and being silent; one of them was holding a laptop, and another was holding a small little stool that you could hold on to.
Then one of them placed the stool in front of the bed, and another one put the laptop on the stool and opened it to show a slideshow. "Hello Johnny Greensmith, you may be lost and confused, but I'll guarantee I'll try to at least answer most of the questions you have." They pressed a button, and the next slideshow showed. "This is artful. He is a mentally unwell psychopath who has been kidnapping and torturing and experimenting on people to turn them into creatures we can't perceive. We don't know much about his backstory, but he is super religious and claims this is God's will. We assume it might've been religious trauma that made him like the man he is today."
"But what has this got to do with me?"
"You see that little yellow gem? You see, it chooses what it embeds. It's made of new and mysterious substances and is believed to have fallen from the heavens because it bypasses all laws we have established, and only a few could embed themselves with it. People who did have been shown to be either children of God and follow Christianity and be very holy and Christ-like. Of course, they're not perfect, with some major flaws, but it seems like it chooses holy people at heart."
On the neck slide, it showed it. It looked like some basic yellow gym. "What's so special about it?" Johnny asked skeptically. "You see, we used atomic microscopes and noticed it had no particles, no atoms, no nothing; it was like it didn't exist, no trace, but we can still physically see it, hold it, and taste it. We believe 100% that not even science can explain this item, and to avoid panic and people thinking science is fake, we decided to keep it secret, but that also made me forget."
He lowers his head, although his hat is covering his entire face. "If you tell anybody, you'll die." Johnny's heart skipped a beat, and his face went cold. "W-What...?" "Yes, it is messed up, and maybe that's why we are not able to embed the stone into us, but it is needed to avoid public panic. I'd rather defy God than bring the public to panic. I don't care if this was a gift or to show God is real and he gives fortune; I'm here to win, and I'll exploit him if I can!" Sheriff said with some loud emotion in his voice, but Johnny was still trying to understand everything.
"Look, the point is that you've been chosen, and we need you to defeat him. We suspect there are others, but he has been the most prominent in killing people and experimenting, or maybe there is a supernatural force that helps him; we don't know."
"Tomorrow begins your training, so get ready. But we will bring you to your personal keepings first..."
