Chapter 50 - Phase Two, The Increased Difficulty

Morintis's heart jolted.

The Skeleton Warriors stacked upon each other, forming a shield-like defensive line that firmly protected him.

The meteor-like fireballs crashed onto the Skeleton Warriors, exploding into showers of sparks, creating a spectacular display.

Morintis was acutely aware of his own weakness.

His Constitution was too low.

If he endured a powerful attack, a massive amount of damage would be transferred to his Skeleton Warriors.

This would cause the Skeleton Warriors to suffer tremendous damage.

But if the Skeleton Warriors acted as shields for him, the result was completely different.

With their powerful Constitution and super high defense,

they could almost ignore this level of damage.

Standing behind the Skeleton Warriors, Morintis's gaze fell upon the orc squads that had appeared ahead.

A group of Felinid Mages waved their wands, unleashing a Rain of Fire attack.

Numerous Felinid Warriors brandished their weapons as they charged forward.

These monsters had appeared silently, without any prior warning.

A slight curve formed at the corner of Morintis's lips.

Who cared how they appeared?

Not having to wait for a spawn timer was good enough.

The mage monsters continuously cast spells from the rear; the Rain of Fire didn't cease.

To ensure his own safety, Morintis had 10 Skeletons form a shield to block the mages' attacks.

Simultaneously, he sent another 10 Skeletons to engage the warrior orcs.

"Skills!"

At his mental command, red light instantly gleamed on the Skeleton Warriors' blades.

Furious Strike!

With the Skeleton Warriors' formidable 5000 Strength attribute, using the skill doubled their attack power.

Felinid Warriors were instantly killed one after another.

Light gathered in Morintis's palm.

Deafening booms erupted.

Corpse Explosions spread wildly.

Felinid Warriors fell like harvested wheat.

In mere seconds, the hundred or so charging Felinid Warriors were mostly dead.

Ten Skeleton Warriors shot like lightning towards the Felinid Mages.

Their 5000 Agility brought astonishing speed.

The vast attribute gap was so great that the Skeleton Warriors left afterimages in Morintis's vision.

In the blink of an eye, the Skeleton Warriors had crossed several dozen meters and appeared before the Felinid Mages.

Blades rose and fell.

Each strike was an instant kill.

The Felinid Mages' Constitution was inferior to the warriors', making them perfect targets for the Skeleton Warriors' one-hit kills.

The Rain of Fire vanished, and everything returned to calm.

While peace reigned for Morintis, the examiners in the control room were still wide-eyed.

After pausing for just over ten seconds, Morintis's points soared like a rocket again.

14,605 points.

In less than ten seconds, his points had increased by 6000.

This represented another 120 monsters killed by Morintis.

Two instances in a row already indicated the pattern.

"This guy has area-attack skills."

"This class is defying heaven!

Its single-target skills are already变态, and its area-attack skills are just as变态."

"Not only are the skills powerful, the summons are equally powerful."

"I think this class has already surpassed Legendary-tier and can rival those few specific classes."

"We can't say that for sure yet.

His level is still low.

It depends on the future."

Being strong at low levels doesn't necessarily mean being strong at high levels.

Conversely, being weak at low levels doesn't mean weak at high levels.

Some classes remain unremarkable until they obtain a certain god-like skill, after which they become irreplaceable.

There is a class that is usually useless,

but once war breaks out, it becomes god-like.

All its skills are large-scale, army-wide area skills.

Having one such professional in an army can double the entire army's combat power.

Morintis was unaware of the examiners' thoughts.

At that moment, he heard a deep rumble.

The entire earth shook several times, as if from an earthquake.

The corpses vanished amidst the tremors, as if swallowed by the earth.

An intangible gas seeped from the ground.

The air grew more bloody, even carrying a stench of decay.

It was enough to make one gag.

The sky grew darker and more gloomy.

The oppressive atmosphere made it hard to breathe.

"Phase Two."

Morintis looked up at the sky.

He seemed quite adapted to this aura; it didn't bother him at all.

Perhaps it was related to his class.

The aura of death didn't make him uncomfortable.

Only the increasingly strong stench was something he disliked.

The earth's tremors gradually ceased.

Morintis had his Skeleton Warriors surround him, maintaining vigilance in all directions.

A few seconds later, the sound of footsteps arose.

"They're here!"

Morintis thought to himself.

A large number of monsters appeared abruptly from all directions.

The monsters emerged from everywhere, formed into small squads of five monsters each.

[Felinid Brawler]

[Level: 16.]

[Felinid Archer]

[Level: 16]

Each squad had a 3:2 ratio: three Brawlers and two Archers.

Both Brawlers and Archers were level 16.

At least 40 squads were scattered around.

From a distance, it looked as if Morintis was surrounded.

Upon entering Phase Two, not only had the monster level increased by one, but their numbers had also doubled.

Morintis wasn't worried about this.

To him, they were just level 16 monsters.

Even without using Corpse Explosion, just his 20 Skeleton Warriors could chop all these guys to pieces, given a bit of time.

He was currently pondering another question.

"Judging by this difficulty, it would be very hard for other classes to pass Phase Two."

"Even if they can pass it, it would require a significant amount of time."

The difficulty of Phase One wasn't particularly great in Morintis's eyes.

With some effort, most professionals could get through it.

Phase Two was much harder.

Just increasing the level by 1 and doubling the monster count—these two changes alone were enough to multiply the difficulty several times over.

Coupled with the appearance of Archers—archers were known as the natural enemies of Mages—this change would make most Mage-type professionals hesitate to proceed.
