Chapter 77 - A Record to Stand for a Century

None of the hundreds of pairs of eyes present could believe the new record that had appeared.

The sound of people swallowing hard could be heard constantly.

Someone pointed at the new record on the light screen, their face etched with disbelief.

"Is that even possible?"

"A single person, soloing a Nightmare dungeon."

"Even though it's just a low-level Level 17 dungeon, it's not something one person can solo."

"That's not even the key point.

The key is the time.

He only took 50 minutes, a full 9 minutes faster than the previous record."

"How did he do it?"

"This person named Morintis has the class 'Necromancer'.

What class is that?

How come I've never heard of it?"

Everyone shook their heads.

"I haven't heard of it either.

It should be a new class."

"Yes, it must be a new class.

Never heard of this one before."

"Could it be a Legendary class?"

Amid the discussions, Morintis appeared at the dungeon entrance.

"He's out!

He's come out!"

"Classmate, how did you do it?"

"While some people can solo Nightmare difficulty dungeons, how did you manage to both solo and break the record?"

"Big shot, can you carry me?"

...

Surrounded by a crowd, the corner of Morintis's mouth twitched slightly.

He looked up and saw the new record he had created, understanding what had happened.

He then chose to pay Points to eliminate the Cooldown.

The next second, Morintis entered the dungeon again.

"He's gone in again!"

"Solo again?"

"Is he going to solo again?

Isn't he tired?"

"Let's not crowd around; we might scare him.

After all, he's only Level 17."

"Right, someone here is Level 30 and was just calling him 'big shot' and begging for a carry...

Shameless."

Amid the chatter, most of the crowd finally dispersed.

Hannah was also in the crowd, her face unable to hide its shock.

"He's truly amazing."

"Could it be true that he really earned 50 Contribution Points during the trial?"

Just after entering the dungeon, Morintis's Communicator vibrated.

A message arrived.

[New record created for Mutated Forest dungeon.

Rewarded 1000 Points, 5 Contribution Points.

(Can only be obtained once)]

Morintis was slightly stunned.

So creating a new dungeon record not only gave Point rewards but also Contribution Points.

A pity it could only be obtained once.

But that made sense; otherwise, there would be a loophole.

Experienced teams could control their completion time, improving it by a few seconds each run.

They could then continuously set new records and farm a large number of Contribution Points.

The Academy naturally wouldn't leave such a loophole.

Regardless, getting Contribution Points was an unexpected bonus.

Morintis had just wanted to level up, purely and simply.

The Skeleton Warriors had already charged out.

The 108 Skeleton Warriors once again swept through the forest's beasts like tigers among sheep.

With the experience from last time, he didn't get lost this time, and his speed was faster.

In just over 20 minutes, Morintis had reached the end of the dungeon.

The Skeleton Warriors swarmed forward.

In the blink of an eye, four more corpses lay by the pond.

A water column shot into the sky, and the final Boss, the Mutated Dragon-Turtle, crawled out of the pond.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

Skill: Corpse Explosion!

Four consecutive explosions roared before the Mutated Dragon-Turtle could even achieve anything.

It was dead on arrival.

Along with a huge amount of water blasted into the sky, the pond's water level instantly dropped noticeably.

A large crater appeared on the ground, and the Mutated Dragon-Turtle was blown to pieces, covered in wounds.

"Flip it over!"

The Skeleton Warriors, prepared for this moment, rushed forward en masse.

No one had ever used this strategy before.

No other class could possess so many summons.

Given the Mutated Dragon-Turtle's size and weight, flipping it over should have been impossible.

With a miserable cry, the Mutated Dragon-Turtle found itself flipped onto its back, exposing its most vulnerable part.

From this moment on, its fate was sealed.

Actually, its fate had been sealed the moment it crawled out of the pond.

The Skeleton Warriors swarmed it, all activating their skill.

Skill: Furious Strike!

Greatswords glowing with red light fell upon its belly.

Blood gushed out like a fountain.

It was infinitely smoother than the last time.

First stunned by four Corpse Explosions, then subjected to the full assault of the Skeleton Warriors.

In just one minute, the Mutated Dragon-Turtle breathed its last.

[Mutated Dragon-Turtle slain. Experience +150,000]

[Obtained Bronze-grade weapon: Dragon-Turtle Longbow.]

[Obtained Low-grade Monster Crystal Core.]

[Dragon-Turtle Longbow: Bronze-grade. Agility +40. Increases power of Bow skills by 6%. Usable after Level 12.]

In the Dungeon Hall, the bell tolled once more.

People who had just left the Dungeon Hall came running back.

"What's going on?

Another new record?"

"It's still the Mutated Forest?

The time improved again?"

"Damn,this result is defying heaven!"

"I'm going to faint.

Someone tell me this isn't real.

This kind of time is impossible."

The new record time was fixed at 24 minutes and 32 seconds.

Not only had it broken through the 30-minute barrier, but it had also surpassed the 25-minute mark.

The previous record, which had stood for over three years, was 58 minutes.

And that was set by a full five-person team with a nearly perfect composition.

Nothing like Morintis, who single-handedly created a record others could scarcely imagine.

Breaking the original record was extremely difficult.

Otherwise, the old record wouldn't have hung here for over three years.

"I bet this record won't be broken for a hundred years."

"A hundred years?

I'd say five hundred years, and it might still stand."

"He's completely leaving no hope for others."

"Do you think he'll go brush other dungeons and set new records?"

"Very likely.

I just can't figure out how he managed to deal with that old turtle Boss at the end of the Mutated Forest dungeon.

It's as hard as anything."

"That turtle's Constitution is ridiculously high, nearly immune to physical attacks.

Only elemental attacks can hurt it."

"His class is Necromancer; it's normal for him to have elemental attacks.

But it's just too fast.

When I ran this dungeon before, just the turtle took an hour."

"Really don't know how he did it.

Too impressive."

Morintis now glowed all over.

As the Mutated Dragon-Turtle fell, Morintis finally leveled up.

He reached Level 18.

From the time he first changed his class until now, it had been less than half a month.

He had gone from Level 1 all the way to Level 18.

His speed was astonishingly fast.

His attributes increased once again.

The Four Core Attributes of the Skeleton Warriors had reached a high of 5800.

After these two dungeon runs, Morintis also saw the shortcomings of his Skeleton Warriors.

While their physical attack was very powerful, it was too one-dimensional.

If they encountered monsters with extremely high physical defense, the effectiveness of the Skeleton Warriors would be greatly reduced, or even become useless.

His Soul Flame skill could make up for the deficiency, but it wasn't efficient enough against bosses and was limited by his total Spirit.

"The Necromancer class probably doesn't only have Skeleton Warriors."

"Keep leveling up.

When I reach Level 20, I'll buy some Skill Scrolls and see if I can get new skills."

Before Level 20, he didn't plan to use any more Skill Scrolls.

Even if there were skills available at Level 10, the success rate of Skill Scrolls would be greatly reduced.

It was better to wait until Level 20 and use a batch together.

His class was special.

He couldn't use other methods to acquire skills like other classes could.

Skill Scrolls were his only option.

Morintis didn't even know how many skills he had.

Being the first Necromancer, and a Unique class at that, he had no one to use as a reference.

So he could only use as many Skill Scrolls as possible, striving to acquire all his skills.

At the low levels, it was manageable.

Low-Grade Skill Scrolls at 100,000 each weren't too expensive.

But when it came to Mid-Grade Skill Scrolls, the price skyrocketed to 10,000,000 each, which was a bit frightening.

"Take one step at a time.

Don't think too far ahead."

Morintis appeared outside the dungeon.

He found himself surrounded again.

But this time, everyone was much calmer than last time.

"Classmate, can you reveal how you killed the Mutated Dragon-Turtle?"

"Yeah, classmate, how did you fight so fast?

Are there any tricks?

Can you share?"

Many people earnestly sought advice from Morintis.

Morintis said lightly, "Just flip it over."

Flip it over?

The crowd had a sudden revelation.

Someone exclaimed, "Right!

Why didn't I think of that!"

"That old turtle, its shell is hard, but the flesh on its belly is soft."

"Exactly, just flip it over!"

"Classmate Morintis is really talented to come up with such a great method."

Amid the discussions, Morintis had already walked towards the nearby dungeon.

Level 20 Dungeon: Spider Lair.

Entry requirement: Levels 18 to 22.
