For several long heartbeats after Kiara finished speaking, the Grand Arena seemed to forget how to breathe.

The wind that had been stirring dust across the stone floor slowed, as if even the air hesitated to move. 

Thousands of citizens sat frozen in their seats, their earlier murmurs swallowed by a silence so dense it pressed against the eardrums. 

What she had done was not simple self-defense. 

She had dragged the rot of society into the center of the arena and laid it bare beneath the imperial sun.

Magnus Phoenix felt the shift immediately.

He knew his father well enough to recognize the warning signs. 

The Emperor's posture had not changed, yet something in his stillness sharpened. Magnus' jaw tightened. He had supported Kiara because their interests aligned, because firearms meant power, and because innovation meant leverage against entrenched nobility.

But this?

This was not a strategy.

This was open defiance.
