Shimmerwood lay in the eastern quadrant of the dungeon like a forest that had swallowed its own sunlight.
The canopy was thick enough to choke brightness into a dim, permanent dusk, and though dungeons did not possess day or night in the true sense, this region carried the heavy stillness of midnight.
This was why the campsite here was favored by adventurers who wished to sleep.
The darkness granted a strange illusion of normalcy, as if one could close their eyes and pretend the dungeon was merely wilderness rather than a constructed rank with rules and overlords.
Only two kinds of beasts roamed Shimmerwood.
Dark Kangaroos, tall and sinewy creatures whose fur swallowed light, hopped between trees with restless, spring-loaded energy. Their eyes gleamed faintly violet in the gloom. They were common three-star beasts, not particularly aggressive unless provoked.
The second were Dark Turtles.
