Chapter 354 - Chapter 354 The Dragon Seeker

In Pear Orchard, the pear trees were like beautiful satin. This small hill was covered with pear trees, canals, fountains, and wooden houses. There were also tall sentry posts on the walls, monitoring the surrounding movements.

Gendry and Dany sat on a tapestry, accompanied by his confidants, Anguy and Ser Barristan. However, Dumb Harry, Jon, and Dacey were first sent to the Kingsguard barracks. They were excellent among the young, but needed further elevation, especially Dumb Harry.

Balerion curled up under Gendry's arm, as hot as a stone baked all day in the scorching sun.

Vhagar and Viserion fought over a piece of cooked meat, flapping their wings and exhaling smoke from their nostrils.

Dragon attacks also have precursors: they roar, smoke first erupts from their pointed mouths, then their heads bend one after another, and they begin to breathe fire.

"These Children are so untamed," Daenerys said with a smile, her silver-gold hair and purple eyes shining in the sun, a charm belonging to ancient Valyria.

"In the future, it will only be charcoal black and azure blue," Gendry thought. "Dragon King bloodline" would not gain much advantage in front of "Stormborn bloodline." It is known that House Baratheon's lineage is strong, with the power of the storm in its blood. This was not always the case in the history of the Targaryen Dynasty; there were also some Children without silver hair and purple eyes, such as Rhaenyra's first three sons, and Baelor Breakspear. However, these individuals later never reached the Iron Throne, dying due to various accidents.

The ancestor of House Baratheon, Orys, was said to be a bastard of a Targaryen. His hair, beard, and eyes were black. After marrying into House Durrendon, subsequent generations of House Baratheon began to have black hair and blue eyes, perfectly inheriting the appearance of their Durrendon mothers.

"They grow very fast, but they are too small now. I cannot let them suffer any harm," Gendry said, looking at the three dragons. The growth rate of the dragons was indeed extraordinary. In a year or two, Balerion might be able to carry a person.

"Dragons are creatures of blood and fire," Maester Qyburn said. Behind him stood a knight eight feet tall, with legs as thick as trees, developed chest muscles, and arms like an ox. This man was named Jon Strong. This was a guardian knight trained by Qyburn, awe-inspiring, and it neither ate nor drank. The knight's armor was black steel plates, his face hidden behind the huge armor, and above the knight's helmet was a carved image of a galloping steed.

Gendry knew this was a patchwork. Qyburn had assembled this inhuman warrior using the body of "The Mountain" and the head of a dothraki Khal. The Mountain's head had been destroyed and sent to Dorne by The Red Viper. Drogo's head was also destroyed, so another method had to be found. Khal Jhezkahn's head was still available, so it was put to use.

"Lys and Volantis still haven't made a move?" Gendry asked.

"Indeed, there's no movement. They are wavering between war and peace. However, many city-states in Slavers Bay, like Meereen, and the exiled governors of Myr and Tyrosh have sent a lot of money to Volantis and Lys to incite them, because our capture of Tyrosh and Myr effectively cut off their revenue," The Handsome Man said. "I think they will eventually make a move."

"We have to wait until the election of the Regent, until the Tiger Party fully takes the stage."

"It seems the time isn't ripe yet," Gendry thought. It was also possible that the Two Cities were intimidated by his swift and fierce offensive and hadn't had time to react. "Once the war gets a bit more lively, perhaps they'll make their move."

"I will continue to focus on their intelligence: Lys, Volantis, Pentos, and especially Braavos."

"Braavos," Daenerys murmured, recalling the red house where she used to live.

"One day we will return to Braavos," Gendry said, holding her hand. Braavos currently seemed like a friend, but he was unsure how long Braavos's friendship would last.

Balerion, having been under Gendry's hand for a while, grew somewhat bored and once again spread his wings, flying high in a different posture.

"Currently, we are just waiting for Volantis and Lys to make a move. If they can also bring out some royalists from the Two Cities and the Disputed Lands, that would be even better," Gendry said, looking at everyone: The Handsome Man, the treasurer; Qyburn, the intelligence officer; Fletcher, the quartermaster; Barristan, the Captain of the Guard; and Grey Wolf, the commander of the Kingsguard and the Free Army.

This was the Two Cities order Gendry had shaped after the original governors died or fled. The Free Folk Association, soldiers, bankers, craft guilds, wine guilds, and small merchants became new supporters of the storm. I pushed these people into the council, while professional technical personnel belonged to the city hall and the court of justice.

"If they can come, it would be best. These people seem to awaken my youth," Fletcher said, stroking the yew longbow in his hand.

"winter is coming, and we don't have time to play war games with these fools from Lys and Volantis..." The Handsome Man also sighed, naturally aware of the changing seasons.

"Have the dragon seekers arrived, Maester Qyburn?" Gendry asked Qyburn.

"They have, Your Highness, Princess," Qyburn nodded. "Since the Red Comet, the fluctuations of magic have intensified, and there are still some skilled sorcerers who can link dragons with the Red Comet."

"Would you like to meet them?" Qyburn asked.

Ser Barristan, however, frowned, "Magic is water without a source; these sorcerers should not be received."

"There's no need to see other sorcerers. Has anyone come from Qarth?"

"Yes," Qyburn nodded. "Two quartesi people arrived on camels; they have been waiting for a long time. One is a strange Warlock, and the other is a masked woman."

The next day, in the brightly sunlit courtyard, Gendry, Daenerys, Ser Barristan, Qyburn, Anguy, and Jon Strong received the two sorcerers who had come from afar.

"Before you stand The Liberator, the triumphant storm, the swordbreaker, heir to the Iron Throne, Lord of the Stepstones, Myr and Tyrosh, His Highness Gendry, and his fiancée, the last true dragon, Stormborn, the silver-haired Princess Daenerys," Anguy announced loudly, looking at the two strangely dressed individuals.

"People from afar, please state your names. We are here," Daenerys said.

The man with the pale face and blue lips spoke in a guttural dothraki: "I am the Great Warlock Pyat Pree. We originally had a merchant companion, but he feared the arduous journey and chose to withdraw."

The woman wearing a lacquered wooden mask spoke in the Common Tongue of the Seven Kingdoms: "I am Quaithe of the Shadow Lands. We travel in search of dragons."

"Far away," Daenerys Targaryen told them, "yet close at hand."

Gendry looked at the two, his hand resting on the dark blade of his sword, orphan-maker. The Warlock represented The Undying, while the sorceress was more mysterious. As for those who didn't come, they were the merchant representatives of Qarth. Qarth was also very chaotic, with Warlocks, merchant guilds, and royalty all vying for power.

"Greetings, Storm," Quaithe half-knelt before Gendry. "I see the shadow of the storm in you, an ancient storm. You are the storm sweeping across the world."

"Great Storm, may we see the true dragon?" the Great Warlock Pyat Pree requested.

"The true dragon is before you, she is my wife," Gendry said indifferently, showing no warmth towards the Warlock from Qarth.

"This... I request to see the true dragon, the scent of sulfur and fire."

"And what about an exchange? You've come all this way, surely not just to open your mouth," Gendry snorted coldly, standing up. His tall stature was awe-inspiring.

Seeing this, the Warlock also became a little afraid. Within a few steps, the sword would be faster.

"Dragons are merely a minor path. If Your Highness permits, I shall lead you to witness the most magnificent truth in the world, which is sorcery. I offer nightshade water, through which you can glimpse the future. If you are interested, you may also come to the House of the Undying to discover the secret of immortality," the Great Warlock rattled off, full of sweet words.

Ser Barristan's gaze was like iron, and he tightened his grip on the blade in his hand. He felt this person was like a superstitious preacher, bewitching people's hearts.

"Enough, get out," Gendry said loudly, stopping him. "I don't have time to see your House of the Undying, unless you still wish to see blood and fire."

"This..." the Grand Warlock tried to persuade again. "If you turn back, the door of wisdom will be forever closed."

Gendry gestured, and Ser Barristan stepped forward, his sword gleaming brightly. When the Grand Warlock saw those cold eyes, he exited the room himself.

Gendry then looked at Quaithe. Quaithe was a sorceress with true abilities; at the very least, her prophetic abilities were very strong. As for her offensive capabilities, perhaps her value was equivalent to Melisandre's? Quaithe's attitude was clearly favorable towards the magic dragon and the true dragon.

"You have done well, Stormborn," Quaithe praised. "You must be careful."

"Careful of whom?" Daenerys asked. Was she an enemy too? Or a dangerous friend? Daenerys couldn't say.

"Careful of everyone. They will come day and night to behold this miracle reborn into the world, and then greed will suddenly arise. For the dragon's flesh and blood are made of fire, and fire is power," the sorceress replied.
