Chapter 9 - One Mistake, Never Again!

Outside, a black SUV was parked far behind. Ms. Valentine was inside, her legs crossed as she watched as Riley was thrown out and collapsed on the floor.

Her breath hitched at the sight at first, heart caving in slightly but she composed herself, tapping her fingers calmly on her knees before she clicked on her phone screen.

'Get her into the car.' She ordered her guards who were inside another car parked right behind hers.

Valentine never left without her bodyguards/ escort, because she knew a lot of people were trying to harm her...

The guards were four in total but only one, stepped out and carried Riley into Valentine's own car.

Riley was drenched, Valentine's cashmere seats soaking in the water from Riley's wet clothes.

Valentine, narrowed her eyes closely at Riley's unconscious form, her chest rising and falling in shallow even breaths.

The dim streetlights filtering through the tinted car windows, cast faint shadows across Riley's pale face making the finger print on her cheeks more visible.

As soon as Valentine's eyes landed on those swollen red marks. Her eyes grew twice their size, veins growing wild.

''Vincent?!'' She called her driver.

"Yes ma'am?"

"I need you to find out what happened inside that club by any means necessary. Do not leave out any information!" Her tone was edged, without the realization her fist was tightened in Riley's knees, knuckles turning white.

"Ouch..." Riley whipped out softly her eyes still closed, as she felt Valentine's claws digging inside her swollen and bruised knees.

Again, Valentine's composure snapped like bone, replaced by something black and molten that surged into her veins.

She quickly ripped the fabric of Riley's trousers apart, her eyes landing on her bleeding knee and a small hollow space that wasn't supposed to be there. She stared at the wound as if the world had narrowed to that wound.

Did someone drill a nail in her? A fucking nail to my baby? Her imagination ran wild, blood boiling hot as she wished to just rip whoever had touched her girl violently.

"Drive to the penthouse and call Dr. Devin immediately. Tell him it's urgent." Her tone was edged, lethal and cold.

The car instantly swerved around the corner, tires screeched, engine revving as the driver sped up, driving and running through the red light non-stop.

Valentine didn't realize what was happening to her. She was literally panicking and shaking, her finger unsteady on Riley's knees. Her heart was literally caving in at the sight of Riley's injured skin.

Her heart was literally inside her stomach until they reached the penthouse.

The guards who were driving behind them quickly came and opened the door. But when one wanted to pick Riley up, Valentine's dark tone stopped them in time.

"Don't you dare touch her!" She snapped, alighting from her side before moving to Riley's, picking her up in her arms and entering the elevator.

They arrived fast, Valentine rushing in her room, laying Riley on the bed.

"Where's Dr. Devin?!" She screamed, her voice cracking in panic.

"Right here!" The doctor's voice followed. He was a man in his 40's. Brown hair and polished suits with his medical box by his side and stethoscope round his neck.

"What happened to her?" Dr. Devin asked while checking her pulse.

"I don't know... Take a look at her knees," Valentine's hand was on her waist. Heart beating faster.

After one hour of cleansing and attending to her wounds. Dr. Devin spoke,

"She's okay. Never was in danger. The only issue is that she wouldn't be able to walk properly for a few days. Her knees seemed to have been punctured by something sharp."

"Then why is she still unconscious? Don't you see how she looks? She doesn't look okay, make her okay!!!"

"Calm down,Valentine. I don't know who she is for you to be acting this way but she's perfectly okay now. She just needs to rest a bit, she looks like she has been stressed for a long time and her body is just taking time to recuperate. Just keep her warm and covered. It's still pouring outside, you wouldn't want her to catch a cold." Dr. Devin concluded.

"Fine!" Valentine shrugged, taking a seat beside the bed.

"I don't need to show you the way. Do I?" She eyed the doctor which just made him chuckle.

"I haven't seen you acting this way in a long time. And nope, you do not need to see me out. I know my way around." He chuckled, shaking his head with a smile on his face as he walked out of the room.

Valentine was now alone with Riley. Her nerves had calmed down but her eyes still darkened at the sight of seeing that hand print, although now faint was still visible on her cheeks.

The worst was the hole in her knees.

Her only wish now was to find the identity of the bastard that hurt her girl?!

She took one of Riley's hands in hers rubbing soothing circles.

"I've had my eyes on you for a long time, baby. I made a mistake by letting you go the first time but I'm not letting you go the second time. Never again, even if it means chaining and locking you by force and hiding you away in this penthouse." Her tone was possessive as she rubbed over her reddened cheeks.

*Beep Beep*

Her phone beeped in her bag.

It must be Vincent.

She picked up her phone and she was right. Vincent's name was at the top of the screen with a message.

"Jessica sterling. The name of the person responsible for hurting the girl gruesomely."

Valentine's eyes turned cold at the last name.

'Sterling?' That's the name of one of her rivals. A mediocre millionaire who thought he could match her assets and decided to wage war and throw shades at her company?

His stupid, godforsaken daughter had dared to touch who belonged to her?

She scoffed coldly at the thought.

What a fool!

She ditched her phone on the table, turning back her attention to Riley.

"Don't worry, baby. I will make sure she pays for what she has done. I promise!"

She stood from the bed, tucking Riley into the sheets as she covered her with a heavy duvet.

Glancing at her one last time. She turned on her heel and left, heading to her study room to plot on how she was going to make the so-called sterling household, pay together for their daughter's crimes.

It was certain that she was going to create a huge mess that would surely leave a mark on the sterling family.
