Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: You're the Killer

The communicator hung up.

Bruno fell into deep thought.

Meditation Technique was about wisdom. Breathing method was about bone structure.

Elise was just a little low on wisdom. Her bone structure was definitely strong. Maybe I should go to Sunset University?

Thinking like that, Bruno didn't hesitate. He decided to go tomorrow.

The moon was bright, the stars were few.

In the center of District 8, a building was fully lit.

Heavenly Gang, Mountain Division headquarters.

"Are you sure?" Tarnison looked at his subordinate with a dark face.

"Yes. The old man is Bolantie Dean. A 1st-stage Arcane Power user from the Dean family," the young man in front of him said.

The young man had tattoos on his face. He was tall and thin. He was called Executioner, a 3rd-stage Arcane Power user. He was a key member in the Mountain Division.

Tarnison slammed the table and shouted, "1st stage? How could a 1st stage do such a clean and quick job?"

Executioner shrugged and said calmly, "Surprise attack. The police also checked the scene. Kaiden didn't even have time to react before he died."

"Where is he now?" Tarnison's eyes turned red. "Go get him for me. I want to use his blood to honor my son."

Executioner's mouth twitched. He said dryly, "We can't find him."

"Can't find him?" Tarnison leaned forward. His eyes fixed on the young man like a wolf ready to tear him apart.

Executioner felt even more helpless. He pulled out a paper and said, "There's something even stranger."

Tarnison looked down. The paper had a medical note. It said, "Severely ill, no cure."

"What does that mean?" He was confused.

"Bolantie Dean was seriously ill. He was in the 'near morgue' of the tumor hospital. But two days ago, he suddenly left the hospital. The hospital thought he didn't want to die in the hospital, so they approved it," Executioner said, his mouth tight. His eyes glowed with suspicion. He thought this was very strange.

Tarnison was confused.

Wait, a 1st-stage Arcane Power user would end up in a hospital's "near morgue"? That 1st-stage user must be really poor.

Plus, a 1st-stage user who was about to die could kill his son in a surprise attack?

He had never heard such a stupid story before.

Executioner added, "I checked from the angle of the Tiger-Wolf Combat Technique. But it's possible that someone else used it on purpose to confuse us. But following this lead, we'll be going nowhere."

"You're right," Tarnison raised his hand and cut the young man off. "Only a lowly 1st-stage Arcane Power user would be willing to perfect the Tiger-Wolf Combat Technique."

Executioner nodded. "I agree."

The Tiger-Wolf Combat Technique wasn't a high-level martial art. Most Arcane Power users didn't want to train it. They had better options.

So, only a 1st-stage user would really study it.

Tarnison tapped the table and sneered, "Does he have any family?"

"Yes. His family is in Atdo City," Executioner said, throwing another file. "But after investigation, he had a granddaughter who used to go to the hospital to visit him. She's a freshman at Bloom City University."

"Good," Tarnison said with a cold smile. "Go find her. Spread the word. If Bolantie doesn't come out, he'll be waiting to collect his granddaughter's body."

Executioner shrugged. "As you wish."

The next day, the sun was just right.

Bruno was excited as he headed to Sunset University.

Bloom City was divided into nine districts. The top three were the noble areas, ruled by Lord Stanford, who controlled those three. The middle three were ruled by three viscounts. The bottom three were ruled by twelve barons.

Of course, if it were that simple, Hua Prefecture wouldn't be so messed up.

Even in the top three districts controlled by Lord Stanford, the power was deep and tangled.

But the three classes of districts were the same as the noble titles. The top three were high and clean, like heaven. The middle three were a little better, with guards watching over them. The bottom three were slums, a paradise for criminals.

That's why Bruno saw the baron title as worthless. How could a lowly baron control a whole district? The real power was in the gangs. He had no chance to get involved.

Sunset University was in the second district. The streets were clean, the air was fresh, and the greenery was great. Bruno thought the people there must live a happy life.

As he approached Sunset University, Bruno suddenly froze, looking at a man and a woman.

The man had his arm around the woman's neck, acting affectionately. But the girl had tears in her eyes and was shaking uncontrollably. When she saw Bruno looking at her, she mouthed the words, "Help me."

Bruno tightened his lips and stepped forward, shouting, "Let go of that girl."

The tattooed man was surprised. He didn't expect someone to interfere.

Bruno had no choice.

Because the woman was Agatha, Bolantie's granddaughter. He still had the contract with Bolantie. He had to step in now.

The tattooed man was obviously Executioner. In the lower districts, he could do whatever he wanted, but in the upper districts, he couldn't be too bold. He spat and said, "Kid, go away."

"I told you to let her go," Bruno shouted loudly.

Executioner looked around, not wanting to cause trouble, since this wasn't the lower districts. "What's it to you?"

"It's my business," Bruno grinned. "If you don't let her go, I'll scream."

"Damn it, you're pushing your luck," Executioner didn't like being treated like that. The next second, he exploded, stepping forward with a punch that carried a gust of wind straight for Bruno's face.

"Come on," Bruno didn't back down. His Arcane Power rolled around him. His spine twisted like a dragon, and he transformed into a fierce wolf, ready to attack. He stepped out of the way of Executioner's punch, then moved in close to his center.

"What?" Executioner's face turned serious. He didn't expect to be so easily dodged.

This guy was tough.

Bruno's attack wasn't over. His right hand spread out, his knuckles cracking with a loud sound. A cruel, violent energy filled the air as he lunged for Executioner's chest.

It was "Hunger Wolf's Heart Extraction" from the Tiger-Wolf Combat Technique.

"What?!" Executioner was shocked.

He knew this move too well!

These days, he had been searching for experts in the Tiger-Wolf Combat Technique. He knew it inside and out. Now, as soon as he saw it, he knew for sure, it was the Tiger-Wolf Combat Technique.

Kaiden's fatal wound was caused by this move!

Executioner lost his focus and had to fight back in panic, throwing his hand to hit Bruno.

A force far beyond his expectation hit him. Executioner felt a sharp pain in his arm and was pushed back several steps, unable to control himself.

"2nd stage peak?" Executioner said quietly.

Bruno said, "Now can you let the girl go?"

Executioner's eyelid twitched. His body moved like lightning, rushing at Bruno. "You just made me angry."

Bruno sneered, lowering his body like a tiger leaping down a mountain.

They clashed.

The more Executioner fought, the more shocked he became. This young man was no ordinary guy. His fists, palms, fingers, and claws were all weapons. His basics were terrifying.

Even the simplest moves became magical in his hands. They connected perfectly, smooth and natural, as if they had been perfected through thousands of trials.

The full Tiger-Wolf Combat Technique?

Executioner's eyes turned red. He hissed, "You killed Kaiden."

Bruno's heart skipped a beat. Damn, this guy was from the Heavenly Gang?

"Still able to talk, huh?" He mocked, then launched another attack.

Boom!

Their fists met. Executioner felt as if he'd been hit by a high-speed alchemy car. His blood churned, his throat burned, and he almost spat blood.

A 3rd-stage Arcane Power user had shown weakness in front of a 2nd-stage user.

Bruno didn't let up. His feet shifted, moving like a wolf in the wild. He circled around Executioner and kicked him with a flying kick.

A clear crack of bone echoed. Executioner screamed and fell to one knee.

He lost.

At that moment, a whistle blew. A bunch of officers ran over and surrounded the two.

"Hands up!" One officer pointed a alchemy gun at Bruno.

Alchemy guns were rare. Only officers in the top three districts had them. With alchemy bullets, even a 6th-stage Arcane Power user couldn't survive.

Bruno raised his hands and shouted, "Officer, I'm not the bad guy. He kidnapped that beautiful lady."

Agatha stood there, stunned. Now she snapped out of it and said, "Yes, officer, it's not this young man. He came to save me."
