"...."
_______
Kuro hand made contact with the first dragon constructed of ice. A brilliant white light struck the skies and blinded everyone watching the spectacle, then once it dimmed, the crowd no longer saw the twin dragons of ice. Only Kuro remained, freefalling with no care in the world, winking at the crowd.
"Soul Art #5: Resonation"
Kuro whispered with a hidden glee in his golden eyes, then with a simple snap of his finger he stood on top of a dragon constructed of ice. Kuro's arms were crossed and the mask of indifference held on his face, his right arm extended out to the side as if he was grabbing something.
Icy mist gathered around Kuro's palm, and he grasped it tight, watching as it warped into a long spear.
"How?! Impossible?!"
Ji-yun shouted in shock, witnessing his magic art technique be stolen right before his very eyes. Kuro grinned at Ji-yun shocked expression, feeding off the uncertainty within Ji-yun's heart.
"Soul Art #1: Law Alteration"
The headmaster exclaimed in a distorted chant. The ice dragon conjured by Kuro's newly acquired ice magic had faded from existence itself. It was as if reality had deleted the mass of energy.
Kuro sighed at the sudden erasure of his counterattack and landed on the ground with grace, not disturbing even the thin pieces of grass. Jin-yun regained his composure and dashed forward, remembering the rules established in the sparring.
Kuro eyes caught the subtle blur that closed in at rapid speed. His ice spear held firmly in his held while Ji-yun wielded a pair of ice daggers.
"Icicle Projection"
Kuro uttered out in a hushed, distorted, whisper filled with ancient power. Once Ji-yun had closed the gap between them, Kuro lifted his spear vertically to block the horizontal swipe from the first dagger.
Kuro took a single step back, bringing his spear to the side in a one-handed spin to readjust his grip, matching jin-yun's down vertical slash with a horizontal block.
Then they blurred from physical view, random patches of grass were frozen from each clash between the two students. The crowd marveled in awe at the high-speed combat displayed by first years, earning a grunt from the headmaster.
"I see you can keep up. Let's see how long that last"
Jin-yun exclaimed during the exchange of their second clash, attempting a piercing stab which was avoided by Kuro side stepping and utilizing the spear as a pole to perform a spin, then a kick towards the abdomen.
Naturally this was blocked by Jin-yun who skidded back just a bit but to his surprise, Kuro moved faster than he could recover. Jin-yun was then met with a lethal reverse sweeping kick, which was fortunately dodged but just narrowly.
Jin-yun took this opportunity of weakness to attack, his hands held firmly around the ice daggers, a fierce gaze in his eyes as he swiped both daggers in opposite directions towards Kuro's midsection.
Much to the crowd's shock, the daggers shattered upon contact. Subtle phantom hue shimmering across Kuro's body and in the next few moments, Jin-yun was met with a kick to the face.
"My turn"
Kuro exclaimed calmly, his tone chilling as he stalked forward. On the other hand, Jin-yun staggered back while holding his face in an attempt to soothe the pain.
"Spatial Art: Relocation"
Another voice rung out in distortion from the distance, it was enthusiastic yet held a bit of an older tone. In mere seconds, Jin-yun was replaced with another male student.
"I'll fight in Jin-yun place."
The white-haired boy proclaimed in a tone of unwavering confidence. His stature was lean but muscular, his height reaching 6'1 which towered over most of the students. This boy was Kuriko Yama, the student council vice president.
Meanwhile, Kuro smiled in anticipation, and both rushed forward with zero hesitation. Kuriko steadied his sword and swiped horizontally which Kuro swiftly ducked under in prediction. Kuro responded by utilizing his superior agility to position the ice spear horizontally, intending on stabbing Kuriko right in the stomach.
Yet like a seasoned warrior, Kuriko repositioned himself and changed the trajectory of his sword slash, positioning it diagonally to meet with the tip of Kuro's spear in a clash of sparks and icy mist.
"Not bad kid"
Kuriko complimented to which Kuro nodded but was forced on the defensive by Kuriko who continued his onslaught of relentless slashes.
"Not bad yourself senpai"
Kuro replied and with that single statement, they were once again locked into battle.
.
Within the crowd, a long black-haired women stood observing the sparring that took place. Her skin fare like an angel and pale to match, her face held a stoic expression, and her figure was developed maturely. This woman was Oka Inuyi , the student council president and the strongest student in the academy.
At a mere age of 5, she awakened her magic art which allowed her to destabilize the atomic structure of material's imbued with magical energy. This eventually became her soul art at the age of 10 and evolved into something far more powerful.
She commanded a force that ripped atoms from its glued interaction, otherwise known as the weak nuclear force, radiation magic. This magic not only influenced cosmic phenomenon, but also was the very source that caused nuclear decay.
Oka Inuyi was no ordinary human; she was an anomaly born from another world. She one day woke up within this fantasy world with knowledge of her magic and the world she now lived in. Her family was the emperor & empress which made her a princess.
.
Eventually the two students broke apart, skidding to a stop with a heavy pant and excited grins. They enjoyed the battle so much that they forgot it was a sparring match and the students were watching.
This time Kuro blitzed forward with no delay, the wind whipping in a violent burst upon the instantaneous movement. Kuriko smiled devilishly and readied himself as well.
Kuro appeared with an arching horizontal slash, followed with a reverse arching slash performed in a consecutive manner. Kuriko elite agility and reaction speed allowed him to duck underneath both slashes, side-stepping into an arching horizontal slash aimed to bisect Kuro's midsection.
This was blocked by Kuro's staff, now positioned vertically in anticipation of the attack. Much to Kuro's surprise, the ice spear was sliced right through, yet Kuro stepped back in time to narrowly avoid the blade.
"Sword Art #2: Cutting Edge Technique"
Kuriko whispered in a hushed tone, his arms repositioning above his head. Magical energy exuded from the blade of the sword like a lit flame roaring to life. Kuro eyes widened, knowing he did not have enough time fix his position.
The sword came down in an audible swoosh, slicing through the very air molecules within the immediate space. Kuro forced every muscle, every fiber of his being, to step sideways in an attempt to leap away from the incoming arching projectile slash of raw magical energy.
"Chaos Art: Flames of Discord'
Kuro uttered out in a hushed whisper, his words bringing to life flames imbued with chaotic energy. These flames shrouded both Kuro hands in a fury display, the crimson flames flickering in & out of existence as if it was defying the laws of nature by existing in the material world.
Both hands shot out towards the incoming projectile slash, both hands brushed passed yet this contact albeit barely, had forced the connection between Ji-yun and itself to sever by disrupting the soul link.
This resulted in the projectile slash being consumed at a rapid rate by the chaotic energy, forcing it to disperse into a mass of magical particles, returning to its state of nature.
"Match concluded. It's a draw"
