Chapter 2 - Oh the horror!

"MOOOOOOOOOO."

The cow and boy duo walked through the wide open fields, with the brown-haired boy, now named Moose, closely examining the strange creature as it walked ahead of him.

"Do all flesh creatures look like you?" He asked, his cute face trying its best to look contemplative. "No, that can't be right...I don't look like you, but then again, I've never seen myself."

Sighing, the boy would keep to himself for what felt like hours as they kept walking. Finally, he'd snap out of his trance as he was interrupted by...something. A voice?

"Hey, you there!" The boy looked up and spotted a strange-looking man. He was completely bald, hiding his obvious baldness with a straw hat.

The man's appearance didn't stop at that; he wore bright blue overalls that did not seem to go well with the man's yellow teeth.

The boy looked around for a few moments before pointing at himself. "Are you talking to me?"

"Well, who else would I be jawin' with? You're the only critter 'round these parts." The boy simply shook his head in response and pointed at the cow behind him.

"Nuh uh, Moose is with me." He said with a grin, much to the man's chagrin.

"That there 'Moose' ya jabberin' 'bout? Wal, that's one o' my prize cows. Reckon I'd be much obliged if ya wrangled her back over here, and moseyed on home to yer kin. What kinda folks let their young'uns just roam wild like that, anyhow?"

"What?" The boy was confused, scratching his head at the man's strange way of speaking. "Do all living beings speak like that? If so, why don't you?" The boy turned his head to the cow behind him, only to receive a Moo in response.

"Oh, okay." The boy responds to the cow happily and turns back to the confused rancher.

"Well, sorry to upset you, but Moose gave me permission to use their name, which means they're coming with me." The boy continued, a stupid grin plastered on his face.

"What in tarnation are ya babblin' 'bout? Just hand over the damn cow 'fore I wrestle it back from ya!"

"What don't you understand, ya idiot. I and this 'cow' as you call them, have formed a bond deeper than you could ever form with another living being." The boy attempted to copy the man's way of speaking, but it just ended up sounding like gibberish.

At this point, the rancher was just dumbfounded. "Well, ain't your folks teach you nothin', you little rascal? Reckon it's high time you learned a thing or two 'bout payback."

"What's that mean?" The boy wore a deadpan expression, which only fueled the rancher's anger. "Shut yer trap." The yellow-toothed man would unravel his belt and wrap it around his fist.

"It's high time that I teach you a...." The man paused mid-speech as he stared at the boy in shock. His breath was coming out in short, ragged bursts. "I-It can't be."

Before him, the boy held his right hand up, a light blue aura emanating from it. Small stones and ungrounded grass floated up before him. A small grin spread across his young face, trying his best to emulate cockiness. 'I have no idea what this is, but I'm doing it, I suppose."

"Y-you're a magic user?!" Immediately, the rancher dropped to his knees, releasing hold of his belt and putting his head to the ground.

"F-FORGIVE ME FOR MY INSOLENCE! I HAD NO IDEA YOU WERE A MAGICIAN!" The brown-haired menace of a boy could only look at him in confusion; even the once calm cow had been startled by the man's sudden outburst.

"Uhhh, you don't have t-" Before the boy could continue, the rancher would cut him off. "I will gladly give you that cow, just please don't kill my family!!!"

"...Okay?" The boy just stared at the groveling man, opting to lower his glowing right hand before things escalated. "Sooooo, uhh....Nice weather we're having."

Just as the boy decided to speak, the man decided it was best to run off, apologizing in the distance. His cries of fear were heard for miles.

"GAHHHH, what'd I do?! Did I do something illegal? How am I supposed to find my creator....now." Whilst in the midst of his panic, the boy paused. "MY CREATOR, I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT MY MISSION TO FIND HIM!"

Sighing, the unruly child pouted at the sight of the older man's retreating figure. "Tsk tsk tsk, that guy completely wasted my time." The boy said as if he didn't waste his own time.

Turning back to face the cow, the boy's face would wear a nervous smile. "Thank you." He stated simply, his eyes slightly watering as he steeled himself in preparation for what he had to say.

"Ahem, as you probably heard me shout, I need to find my creator and...you might slow me down."

The boy's eyes would widen as he rushed to correct his mistake.

"W-what I'm trying to say is that I'm really grateful for you doing all that you have for me." The child scratched the back of his head shyly.

"B-but this is something that I need to do!" He suddenly yelled in the cow's face, startling it.

"Oh, uhm, sorry. Let me just get to the point. To find my creator, I'll need to find more flesh creatures to help me."

The boy looked to the setting sun with a grin before turning back to the cow that was mid-chew.

"I'm not saying that you aren't a good enough flesh creature, but I'm like 90 percent sure you don't even get what I'm saying." Looking down at his feet, the usually hyper boy is now at a loss for words...finally some peace.

"So, since I can't risk taking you with me, I'll make a promise to you instead." The boy gave the cow a wide grin.

"When I find my master and learn my purpose, I'll come back for you!"

"MOOOOOOOOOOO."

Ah, yes, the sun sets on the beginning to mark all beginnings.
