Chapter 21 - Chapter 22: Showdown!

House of Lambs.

Without realizing it, Reno had been staying with the giants for over three months.

During this time, he not only mastered the Giant Race's warrior technique, Ikoku, but also established a deep friendship with the giants.

For him, this experience was extremely meaningful.

In the future, he might even be able to get help from the Giant Race.

"Reno, are you really planning to leave? Why don't you stay for a couple more days??"

"Yeah, yeah! If you and Linlin leave, who are we going to play with??"

"We can't bear to see you and Linlin go."

The children of the House of Lambs chattered, trying to persuade Reno, who wanted to leave, to stay.

"That's right. Just stay a while longer," Hajrudin, who had come to play, chimed in.

"This..."

The children's enthusiasm put Reno in a difficult spot.

"They're right. The children can't bear to part with you two."

"Reno, just stay a while longer. By the way, if I recall correctly, isn't it Linlin's birthday soon??"

"Why don't you leave after Linlin's birthday? Consider it leaving a beautiful memory for the children here."

While Reno was hesitating, Carmel spoke up.

"Is that so? Alright then."

Seeming moved by Carmel's reasoning, Reno nodded and agreed to her request.

"Yay! Linlin's having a birthday! We get to eat cake!!"

"We have to prepare well and give Linlin an unforgettable birthday."

Knowing Linlin was going to have a birthday, the children began to look forward to it.

Because whenever someone here had a birthday, they would get to eat many things they usually couldn't.

Since Mother liked Linlin so much, she would definitely buy lots of delicious food.

Standing beside Linlin, Reno sneered inwardly, fully aware of the situation.

Carmel was afraid they would leave. It seemed this woman was planning to make her move on him on Linlin's birthday.

Coincidentally, this was the exact timing Reno was aiming for. Carmel's proposal played right into his hands.

"Alright, children. Linlin's birthday is in a few days. I'm going out to do some shopping. Is there anything you want??"

Carmel asked everyone with a kind smile.

"Strawberry cake! Linlin wants strawberry cake!"

Linlin was the first to raise her hand, looking at Carmel expectantly with sparkling eyes.

"I want building blocks," Jace said, naming the toy he had wanted for a long time.

"Me too! Me too!!"

The children shouted out various requests one after another.

After all the children had finished speaking, Carmel looked at Reno with a smile.

"Reno, is there anything you want? I can bring it for you too."

"Thank you, Mother, but there's nothing special I want."

Reno shook his head, politely declining the nun's offer.

"Is that so? Alright then."

"Children, stay here and play with Reno and Linlin. Mother will be back soon."

Reno watched Carmel leave, the smile on his face slowly fading away.

Time flew by, and soon it was the day of Linlin's birthday.

Knowing Linlin loved cake, Carmel had gone out and bought various cakes and desserts.

She also led the children in preparing many gifts for Linlin.

Early in the morning, while Linlin was still fast asleep, Carmel woke up the other children, planning to decorate the place properly to give Linlin a big surprise when she woke up.

The children were full of energy; some prepared the cake, others started decorating the room, all busy and happy.

Carmel looked at Reno, who was preparing the surprise for Linlin, a trace of imperceptible ruthlessness flashing in her eyes.

Today was her last chance. She had to eliminate Reno.

Thinking of this, she put on a benevolent smile again and walked towards Reno.

When she was about two meters away from Reno, he suddenly turned around and looked at her.

Carmel's steps paused. Reno's gaze made her hair stand on end.

Fortunately, the feeling came and went quickly, so she didn't think much of it.

During their contact over this period, she had repeatedly investigated Reno, both intentionally and unintentionally.

He was just an ordinary human with no talent, who had merely stumbled into becoming Linlin's brother by accident.

Just as Carmel was about to speak, Reno beat her to it:

"Mother, I hid the birthday surprise I prepared for Linlin in the forest. Since it's a bit heavy, can you help me bring it over??"

"Oh???"

Reno's request made Carmel overjoyed. Was even heaven helping her??

She had just been wanting to create an opportunity to be alone with Reno, and here it was.

"Of course! Let's go right away." Carmel didn't suspect a thing; in fact, she was even more urgent than Reno.

And so, Reno led Carmel towards the forest.

Bent on eliminating Reno, Carmel didn't notice anything unusual. She wanted to get further away from the House of Lambs before making her move on Reno.

However, it wasn't until they reached the depths of the forest that Carmel realized something was wrong.

She subconsciously slowed her pace, looking around while asking warily:

"Reno, where is the gift you prepared for Linlin??"

"We've walked for so long; are we not there yet??"

As she spoke, Carmel summoned her little bodyguard, the Soul Homie Pandora.

Realizing that Carmel had sensed something, Reno suddenly stopped walking. He turned around to face Carmel, the smile on his face instantly vanishing.

"This is far enough from the Giant Village. It should be about right."

"Reno, what do you mean by that??"

Hearing Reno's somewhat abrupt words, Carmel suddenly had an ominous premonition in her heart.
