Chapter 97 - Chapter 97: Aerial Attack! Rocks Bursts In! Instant Death for Celestial Dragons!

"Garp, if you miss this chance, it won't be easy to find another. Whether you come or not is up to you." Kong fell silent, waiting for a response. As Garp's superior for many years, he knew the man had a deep sense of justice. Despite his hatred for the Celestial Dragons, when it came to Rocks, Garp would see the big picture.

"Give me the coordinates of God Valley."

Hearing Garp's firm voice, a smile finally appeared on Kong's face. That's the Garp I know!

Time flew, and the day of the God Valley Hunt arrived. Even the sky seemed to know it would be a day of bloodshed; it was a dull, featureless gray.

After a month of preparation, God Valley had become a death trap. 100,000 residents and thousands of slaves were the trapped prey. Fifty Marine warships circled the island, their cannons loaded and ready to fire on any approaching vessel.

On the island's edge, 50,000 elite Marines formed an airtight perimeter. Every soldier's rifle was loaded, and every pair of eyes was scanning for movement. Rear Admirals were stationed at regular intervals. Everyone was on edge. They knew Rocks was coming—the Overlord of the Sea with 100,000 bloodthirsty pirates. The Marines were outnumbered two-to-one.

The soldiers on the front lines were essentially cannon fodder. Further inland, the defense grew stronger, featuring Vice Admirals and CP0 agents with their Observation Haki active, monitoring everything.

At the very center were the true powerhouses: Kong, Garp, Sengoku, and the nine members of the God's Knights. They were the ultimate shield for the 200 Celestial Dragons.

In this suffocatingly tense environment, the 200 Celestial Dragons seemed completely oblivious. They were busy checking their weapons, their eyes gleaming with sadistic excitement.

"Hahahaha! When are we starting? I can't wait to hear the sounds of the 'prey' begging for their lives!" one shouted.

Suddenly, the gray sky seemed to ripple.

"Look up! What is that?!" a soldier screamed.

High above the clouds, dozens of massive islands were descending like meteors. Standing at the prow of the lead island, his cloak fluttering in the wind and two Devil Fruit powers swirling around his hands, was Rocks D. Xebec.

"CELESTIAL DRAGONS! YOUR KING HAS ARRIVED!"

Before the Marines could even adjust their cannons, Rocks leaped from the floating island. He didn't aim for the soldiers; he crashed directly into the center of the "Hunting Grounds."

BOOM!

The shockwave of his landing vaporized dozens of nearby Celestial Dragons instantly. Blood and debris sprayed across the pristine silk tents. The "hunters" had become the hunted in a split second.

"ROCKS!!!" Kong and Garp roared simultaneously, charging toward the center of the carnage.

The God Valley Incident had officially begun.

"Spoken like a true noble! These low-life 'prey' are just waiting for this Saint to hunt them. I certainly can't keep them waiting too long!"

"These lowly commoners... being able to serve as prey for this Saint is a blessing they couldn't earn in ten lifetimes."

"Let the wails echo throughout all of God Valley!"

"Start it already!"

The Celestial Dragons clamored, their voices filled with impatient arrogance. Standing to the side, Garp subconsciously clenched his fists, the veins on his arms bulging as he cursed them in his heart. A pack of sub-human monsters!

Steel Bone Kong glanced at the time, then at Saint Garling sitting beside him. "It's time," he said in a heavy voice.

Garling snapped his eyes open and gave a curt nod. "Bring out the prizes."

A group of CP0 agents, who had been standing by, immediately brought forward six reinforced chests. As the lids flipped open, six Devil Fruits—each adorned with swirling patterns and radiating an alluring luster—lay nestled inside. Even Kong and Garp couldn't help but steal an extra glance at them.

Garling rose slowly, his gaze sweeping over the assembled Celestial Dragons and the eight other members of the God's Knights.

"The rules remain the same as always. These six Devil Fruits are the prizes for today's Hunting Games! Whoever slaughters the most prey wins the fruits!"

"Let's get moving! My bullets are already itching to find their way into a peasant's skull!"

"Indeed! My blade is parched!"

"I'm going for a record number of heads this time."

In reality, the Celestial Dragons didn't care much for the fruits themselves. They were a bunch of pampered gluttons who had protectors everywhere they went; what use did they have for powers? Did they think someone actually dared to fight back? Ridiculous! What they craved was the process—the sight of their prey shivering in terror, begging for mercy at their feet. To them, that was the ultimate psychological high.

A short distance away, the huddled masses of God Valley residents and slaves felt their blood run cold at the words "It's time." When the rumors had first reached them that they were to be hunted for sport, panic had set in.

Some had tried to fight back with whatever tools they had. Within a minute, they had been ruthlessly gunned down by the Marines and tossed into the sea to feed the Sea Kings. That display of cold-blooded cruelty had shattered the will of the rest. Now, they could only wait.

In the crowd, Ginny, Kuma, and Ivankov glared at the "pig-like" Celestial Dragons across from them. If looks could kill, those nobles would have died a thousand deaths.

"Do you think... do you think we're going to die here today?" Nine-year-old Kuma asked, his voice trembling as he faced death for the first time. First a slave, now a target—was this truly his destiny?

"Don't lose hope, Kuma," Ginny whispered, squeezing his hand. "I've sent the word out. I know people will come for those six fruits. I know it."

"Ivankov, what are you thinking?" Ginny asked, noticing he was silent.

Ivankov was staring feverishly at the six chests, his mind racing. "If we could just eat those fruits... would we become strong enough to survive?"

"Don't be reckless, Ivankov! Those nobles are guarded by monsters. If they catch you, you're dead!" Ginny hissed, trying to suppress his insane idea.

"I'm not stupid," Ivankov muttered, though his eyes never left the prizes.

"Prey! You have exactly one minute to run!" Saint Garling shouted toward the crowd. "After one minute, the game begins!"

"RUN!!"

Without a second's hesitation, Ivankov, Ginny, and Kuma bolted. The rest of the crowd followed suit, scattering in every direction like a broken necklace of beads.

"Hahahaha! Faster! Run faster!!"

"If you're too slow, don't blame this Saint for being 'impolite'!!"

The 200 Celestial Dragons actually cheered them on, as if afraid the chase would end too quickly. The faster the prey ran, the more excited they became.

"Five!" "Four!" "Three!" "Two!" "One!"

"One minute is up. The Hunt begins!"

As Garling's voice fell, the 200 Celestial Dragons charged forward like rabid dogs. Even with 100,000 people running, the sheer density of the crowd meant there were targets everywhere.

BANG!

A gunshot rang out. A frail teenage boy jerked to a stop.

Drip... drip...

The sound of blood hitting the dirt followed. He looked down at the hole in his chest, his mouth working silently before he collapsed into the mud, eyes wide and unseeing.

"Hahahaha! Did you see that? This Saint got the first kill!!" A Celestial Dragon crowed, lifting his pistol to his lips and blowing theatrical "smoke" away from the barrel, even through his glass helmet.

"Don't get cocky! The game has just started!" The other nobles snarled, pulling their triggers repeatedly.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Bullets rained down. Bodies fell one after another. The death toll began to climb.

"ADMIRAL KONG!!!"

Garp ground his teeth so hard they threatened to shatter. He was at his limit. These dogs who treated human life like grass... Where is that bastard Rocks?! At this moment, Garp wanted Rocks there more than anyone else. His ideal scenario? Rocks kills a few Celestial Dragons, then Garp kills Rocks. Two birds, one stone.

Even the other Marine officers and soldiers felt a wave of nausea at the sight. But they were small fry; they could only grit their teeth and pretend to be blind.

"Garp, stay calm! Don't throw everything away for a moment of anger!" Kong hissed a warning. "If you strike now, you won't save them, and you'll be branded a traitor. Garling is just as strong as you; you won't win this by losing your head!"

Garling watched the massacre with a satisfied nod. He turned to the other eight God's Knights. "Don't just stand there. It's a rare outing—go have some fun. Just... kill slowly. Leave some 'fun' for the other Dragons."

These eight each had the power of an Admiral. If they truly went all out, the 100,000 people wouldn't last ten minutes, and the "fun" would be over.

"Don't worry, I know how to pace myself." One Knight vanished instantly, reappearing in the middle of a group of civilians. With a few flashes of his blade, a hundred people fell in silence, their screams lost in their throats. The metallic tang of blood filled the air.

"That guy... always so impatient," another laughed. "Come on, let's join in." The remaining seven began to stroll toward the crowd. They looked like they were walking slowly, but in a few steps, they were in the thick of it, unleashing their own brands of carnage.

Suddenly, a salt-tinged sea breeze whipped across the island. The gray sky turned pitch black.

"What's happening?!" "Why did the sun go out?!" "Wait—look up! Islands! There are islands blocking the sky!" "Enemy attack! Enemy attack!!" "It's Shiki! It's the Float-Float Fruit!!"

The Marine generals reacted instantly. The disciplined soldiers raised their rifles toward the heavens.

"ROCKS IS HERE! ALL HANDS, TO YOUR STATIONS!!" Kong's roar thundered across the valley.

"You bastard, you finally showed up!" Garp's face was grim as he finally released the fury he had been bottling up. A terrifying aura exploded from him. In just those few minutes, nearly a thousand people had already been slaughtered.

"Hahahahahaha!"

A booming, chaotic laugh echoed from above.

"You Celestial Dragons sure look like you're having a grand old time!!"
